Caldwell has been every bit as good as Durham. He is often missed however because he is usually at the bottom of the packs doing the really hard yakka.
Caldwell does everything well and has been great but Durham gets the praise because he does things that everyone can’t (more flashy) It’s kind of how everyone watching Harley Reid even tho other first years having similar stat lines
Caldwell has been exceptional and his hard work is astounding. If he improved his kicking or stopped the random out on the full kicks he would become our best player.
Definitely not how I'd describe Caldwell's kicking; he is much more trustworthy when delivering to our forwards. Caldwell closer to Merrett than the rest of our midfielders when it comes to delivering the ball imo
Isaac Cumming should be a player we should go after. Great foot skills, had a terrific 2022. Would be a great asset in the back half and an upgrade on Kelly and ultimate Heppell replacement.
Hey Felix, in terms of most to least likely I think will be the following: Ainsworth - Now no.1 as Stengle as re-signed Perryman - Don’t know enough about him but seems he would be a Heppell replacement Harley Reid - In the future Cam Zurhaar - He and Stringer are like for like. Stringer will likely sign for 2 more years. Can’t see him taking Stringer’s spot atm Lastly, our ruck situation is worrying me. Draper has been injury prone and I don’t believe his skills have improved enough over the last couple of seasons. I think Bryan has so much potential and would like to see him given more AFL time next year at least. At this stage I’d put my money on him becoming better than Draper. Don’t want to lose him. Alternatively if we did lose him, could we go after Rowan Marshall? I have heard he’s not that settled at St.Kilda
Great video as always. Could you please make a video sharing your thoughts on potential list changes (potential delistings, retirements, etc) for 2025?
Honestly, Harley Reid just isn’t worth it. We already have Caldwell and Durham, and in a way they could be considered almost as good as Harley Reid, you just don’t notice them as much. It’s honestly worth pursuing someone that we could benefit from more, like Ainsworth or Stengle. And besides, we put Harley Reid away relatively easily in our first game against WC this year. Also we’d have to wait a while and pay an unimaginable amount of money to get him. It really just isn’t worth it.
By the time Reid hits his peak the likes of Merrett and Parish would be near retirement. Reid would be an investment for the future and even now. But I shudder to think what WC would demand to lose a young superstar. The times WC have been down and out they've ended up with Chris Judd and now Harley Reid. It would be nice have a generational talent just for once land on our lap.
@@Alby911 That’s a good point, I didn’t think about that. But by then there also may be some young midfielders more suited for us. It really depends. Who knows, maybe he will end up being worth it!
EE always on my "A" each week. Such a great show. Let's tie up Sammie Draper ahead of time. His influence at Bomberland is intangible. We always perform better when he is on the park. Let's make him a one club player. Get the deal done ahead of time.
You still need to be careful with managing the salary cap though. That kind of money would have to be for someone like Stengle; our small forward brigade just isn't dangerous enough as a whole
I don't get not playing Bryan. He needs minutes in the 1's. So are we gonna lose Bryan, and rely on a 36 year old Goldy, and an injury prone Drapes? Could end up being a disaster.
Totally , Bryan needs more senior time . I love Drapes but he is injury prone , his a loose unit and his football skills are dubious. Goldy has been good but how long will he be viable?
After last nights game against Geelong it’s time to give Draper a spell and concentrate on Bryan . Yes , those umpiring decisions in the 3rd quarter were horrific (Geelong were basically gifted 3 goals) but for Draper to stand there for 2 minutes with his arms in the air acting like a spoilt child rather than immediately get back to the task at hand shows me he lacks the mental capacity for AFL football. I fear Essendon are making a big mistake relying on Draper over Bryan , add that to his dubious skills and being injury prone is enough for me to move him on at seasons end while he still has some currency.
@@HLsab Completely agree mate, but will we? Essendon seem to put stock in players others wouldn't, acting like Draper is the next Madden. There would quite a few I'd move on.
Shiel is gone. Nick Bryan too unless Goldy retires. Hind is safe. Draper becomes number 1 ruck. Caldwell stays. Ainsworth, not sure. Maybe too pricy. Stengel - yes! Richards goes north or west. Berry, no. He’ll stay at Brisy. Don’t want Martin. Reid doesn’t move this year. Under contract for another two years with another year at WC’S option. Zurhaar, maybe, but a bit player. Thomas - NO!!! Perryman - Yes. Joe Daniher, don’t want him back if he couldn’t commit in the first place and wanted to get out of the “Melbourne Bubble”. Stay in Brisbane and just dream of of a GF.😂
