If you've been considering learning Dutch, check out the following useful phrases that might end up saving your life, or at the very least, ease you into socializing in Dutch and making you seem 10 times more fluent than it actually might be the case. Afrikaans is my first language and i can understand most of these phrases without subtitles. We simplified things and have influences from other languages as well but for the most part Dutch makes up like 90% of Afrikaans. You need to speak what we call "Suiwer Afrikaans" to be able to somewhat communicate with a Dutch person. Klop gedaan meneer!

Is er een verschil tussen “versta”, “begrijp” en “snap”?

I think there is a diffence between versta in Flemish and Dutch. In Flemish it is 'I don't understand you' In Dutch 'I can't hear clearly what you are saying'.

Limburg: Aste(bleef), danke, sorry/excuus, det maakt niks, ...., môrgge, welterusten, Ik geef Nederlands, Ik ben van Belfeld, Ik begrijp het niet (verstaan=horen, begrijpen=understand). Veer zegge noeits Ik hou van jou. Ich bin zoe verleefd. Dich bis miene sies.
