Love The New Breed! Your set sound absolutely killer. Did you make a video on how you mike and mix it?
@JuanCarlitoMendoza
@JuanCarlitoMendoza 3 месяца назад
Thanks brother! I love New Breed as well. My favorite drum book of all time. I haven't made a video on it because I'm trying to figure out a way to attack the topic. There's so much to say and I don't want to put out a 30-45 min video that only 1% of people are going to watch. HOWEVER, I have an idea and I might attack that video soon. However, If I do make a 30-45 minute course it will be on my website (which I am leaning to do).

Carlito please ¿ What is your process of learning this kind of exercises? Thank you
@JuanCarlitoMendoza
@JuanCarlitoMendoza 2 месяца назад
I normally focus on what body motions are Happening. For example, so I have to lift? Do I have to drop the stick and snap, etc. I do this very slowly so I can learn those mechanics and it will eventually transfer naturally once I understand the exercise(s) and their mechanics.

Looks good and sounds groovy! Thank you for sharing! If you were to customize this exercise for a beginner, how would you simplify it and progressively build it back up as the student levels up over weeks/months? Would you remove hits from the groove to simplify it? Would you practice only two limbs at a time and practice different combinations? Any pointers will be greatly appreciated.
@JuanCarlitoMendoza

Start with a simpler hand pattern maybe just quarter notes on the hi hat, snare 2 and 4 and then read the reading exercise 1. When you’re comfortable move to to 1b using the snare hand ostinato and then move to 2a, etc. It should be a logical progression.

@@JuanCarlitoMendoza I just realized practicing the "Left Hand" with out loud counting is enough of an exercise for me at this point as I only practiced the hi-hat and time keeping with right hand so far Looking forward to your upcoming videos...

@@JuanCarlitoMendoza Thank you Carlito for your answer. So, you only use the sheet music as a last resource?
@JuanCarlitoMendoza
@JuanCarlitoMendoza 2 месяца назад
no i’m a visual learner and it makes it a lot easier for me to connect the dots. So I’ll look at it first, then work out the movements while I’m reading and taking notes. I’ll break it down in chunks, so measure at a time or beat by beat and if I need to, note by note. I don’t move on until I get it right. From there I’ll add on. Patience is the key in this and making sure you’re not moving too fast
