Thank you for this. There is always something to learn. This is the greatest fighting game I've ever played in terms of the variety of hit to counter, the various strategies employed, learning to enter and exit, the variety of mistakes one learns while winning, and the ability to gradually overcome your weaknesses by training in the hyperbolic crucible of ranked play
I can't stress enough how much this has helped me. Recently made the leverless switch and I was pulling hair out trying to do honda headbutt into lvl 3 before this.
Dude super helpful! You’re one of the few people putting out hitbox tutorials. As someone who just got one and learning any sort of guidance is super appreciated, thank you!
@@CalebAdamsfor raw drive rush learn to do the shortcut (buffer first Forward) then next quickly press Forward again while pressing your parry button
thanks for the video, it helped me realize i was doing the most wonkiest inputs for dp while i couldve just been doing what was in the video haha. time to put in the work now
Thanks a lot for this video, really helpful to learn this inputs also your other videos helped me a lot, pretty safe to say I reached Master Rank thanks to them
SF6 has some weird input bugs that effect people using all kinds of controllers. I’m guessing that you get dp by accident after walking forward, correct? If so, I recommend going to neutral then quickly hitting down-back before doing the sandblast input
This was exyctly what i needed, i was struggling to input supers in this game, its my first SF game, so double QCF is kinda arkward to input for me. After this video i will never missinput again with the holding forward then tapping down back after the first QCF!
Hi, I just got a leverless controller... there is indeed a learning curve from what im use to. Can you tell me where i can find the chart for the numbers/buttons (e.g. hold 6, 2 + jump+ punch) Which buttons are 2 and 6? Thx a lot!
@@Chris_F Amazing! Thx a lot for the info. I got the Keebbrawler-01 from Mavercade. I think it will be a game changer.... in a couple of weeks lollll!!
Thank you for the guide, I am having issues with canceling ex qcf into qcb lvl 2 super (Luke combo trial 11). do you have any tips? It's also my first day on leverless so I may just have to get more comfortable first.
I’m not home right now so I can’t give specific advice but like you said it’s day 1. Just work on fundamental motions and cancels and you’ll get it down soon I’m sure
Thank you! I'm enjoying this tutorial. Do you have one that also works on which setting should be used?. There's like some weird button setting that people say levon or leave off. IDK.... If you've already made one let me know. I'll go check it out, give it a thumbs up etc
Thanks! No I don’t have a video on that as it’s fairly straight forward. Use the Capcom cup approved SOCD settings if you are a tournament player; that being, down + up = neutral
This may be a bit off topic but would you recommend that we use a leverless controller? I'm still fairly new to fighting games and have been using a standard arcade stick but have had issues getting moves to come out
Short answer: it won’t fix your execution issues right away Long answer: I always recommend people use the controller that motivates them to play and practice with. All controllers have their pros and cons, but switching to leverless won’t fix your execution issues right away. If you think that getting a leverless is a fun way to play then yes, I highly recommend the switch. I find that leverless has a bit of a learning curve for the first few weeks but if you can get over the initial hurdle it def becomes a great controller!
@@Chris_FI see! I'll just have to be patient and keep practicing and see if switching to a leverless controller might benefit me down the line. I absolutely LOVE your incremental and beginner friendly lessons on SF, keep up the fantastic work!
Push attack just basically means press any attack button corresponding to what super you're trying to do. So if the super you require to do is a punch, then press a punch button when you're supposed to "push attack". And if you're super requires you to press a kick button, then press a kick button when you're supposed to "push attack".
Great guide do you have any tip for canceling DP into super? (in my case that's for cammy so from a dragon kick to super level 3 with punch). And also i got often some problem to cancel to quarter circle in some cases like dive kicks or spiral from light, sometimes i got something like 24 instead of 214 (even if i repeat only the quarter circle part to be more consistent) so if you have some tips or ideas for that it would be great thanks :)
Unplug the snackbox. Push and hold the options button (furthest left) AND the jump button then plug it in. Hold the buttons for about 3 seconds. That should change the SOCD to d+u=neutral
I recently got my leverless coming from stick... being used to playing on pc with keyboard I reckon it would be easier, let me say the inputs are not as intuitive as I thought they'd be
I was in the exact same position as you. Just spend a few minutes in training mode running basic drills before you hop online and youll get it down soon I’m sure!
This helps a ton! I picked up chun at the same time I started playing leverless and it feels like I am insane, screaming into the void and noone is out there. I'm having fun though. How movement feels on a leverless makes it worth it.
Hi man, do you have any tips to buffer a cancel from a light to super on hitbox? (in my case i'm a cammy player, so i can't do something like 236 delay stand lk 236 lp because that throws a spiral arrow even if i delay the lk, and the window for buffering a double quarter circle after a sstand lk seems too hard to do). Thank you for your answer.
Imagine you are on the 1P side. I would try holding 6, then pushing kick while holding 6. Then piano your ring and middle finger two times to get a qcfqcf motion. That’s what I do
@@Chris_F I literally just found this input while messing around! Great to hear you recommend it so I know it’s worth investing some practice on the timing. Thanks.
@CB-nz7be depends on your controller, there is no one “way” to do it. Ultimately, unless you’re entering tournaments then this isn’t something you need to worry about as a casual player
“Better” is relative bc it all comes down to the method that works best for you. However the way I show in this video is the fastest in terms of frames.
@@Chris_Fif I don’t have SOCD on my hitbox, will it make it harder to use the dp trick you showed? Cause I’m having a hard time getting the dp to come out and I’m getting jump into light punch instead. I have to like press foward then up+down and wait a split second before hitting jump for it to work but it’s inconsistent.
I have a hit box but it doesn’t work on my PS5 version of SF6. Do I need an adapter of some sort or the PS4 version of SF6? And if an adapter which one?
Unfortunately hitbox doesn’t work on ps5 without a ps4->ps5 converter or a new board inside the case. I think Brook is the brand you want. I’m sorry but I have a snackbox micro for ps5 so I’m not sure which adapter you need but I’m very sure Brook is the brand that makes it.
I've been gobbling up Chris's SF videos as a fighting game noob. Does anybody know what his binds are i.e. does he have Drive Impact, Drive Parry and/or Throw bound on L1 and/or L2?
For the first shortcut standing DP, what's the reason to press Jump? It seems easier to just hold 6, 2+punch. If I press all at once it usually throws the punch then jumps, unless I delay press Jump right after 2.
So the reason this works(assume you on on 1P side) is because you're not releasing your ring and middle finger at the exact same time, giving you a qcf motion as a result. If you release 1 with your ring and middle finger at the exact same time both times the super won't come out. That's why I included the method I did in this video; it's consistent.
Bro thanks for the video. I'm a Diamond 4 JP using stick and just ordered a leverless controller. I want to main another character, help me decide between Luke or Ken or a charge character that is easy to learn.
@@Chris_F I will try more. It's maybe 90 minutes. Idk what I'm doing wrong. New to hitbox. Thank you though I'll keep trying. Down forward (hold forward) tap back down and kick.
I recently decided to take the leap and purchased a leverless controller. (Can't wait for it to arrive!) This is exactly the type of video I was looking for. Thank you! I'd love to hear any more inputs/tips you have on getting used to playing on one.
Congrats on your purchase! I think everybody has different things they struggle with in the beginning so I’m not sure if my experiences can help you. Hit me up on twitter or message me here if you have any specific questions!
I'm 46 years old, and my left shoulder joint becomes painful when I play SF6 every day for about 2-3 hours with an arcade stick. I've pre-order a HitBox controller and might receive it in October.
@@Chris_F im talking about raw super, like in reaction to some wiff (like DeeJay lvl 1). You told about canceling, right? And im having trouble with raw super
@@Chris_F is the overlay basically used when running OBS type software? Can I run it as a stand alone in a borderless window? If not all good. You da man!!
this is so interesting. i figure i only need to hold neutral down and do 3,2,3,p to get lvl 1 super also. also, i only need to hold 2 then press 3,3+p to get a neutral crouching dp. im on a keyboard but it seems like it should work.
I feel like naming the 4 directions instead of using notation would be a lot more clear here. It gets confusing once you try to cheat the system using SOCD
I know that lots of different people are comfortable with different input terms so I tried to use directions with my voice and numpad with text to cover the main two. Also I’m not “cheating” the system. These are Capcom Cup tournament legal controller settings.
Happy to hear you love the channel, thank you! I didn't make this video with the goal of convincing people to switch to hitbox but for people who just bought one and need a starting point.
Usually love your videos - this one misses the mark a bit, which is a bummer since I could really use the help. Your movements are too fast to see, so I would love to see slowed down versions of your inputs. On top of that, I am not a Ken player so I don’t know what each of his commands are - you could put those diagrams in here too (with arrows like they show in SF6 and not number notation).
Thanks for the comment and for watching. I included the input history on the left as well as the virtual controller built into training mode plus a hitbox overlay on the top of the screen. If you find it hard to follow my hands, I recommend using RU-vid’s built in slow playback. As far as the ken commands go, these are all special moves that are either hadouken or tatsumaki motions, which most of the cast have in their move list.
you can just adjust the playback speed, the stuff he's showing in real time, unfortunately has to be done quickly/in a certain speed for it to be applicable. I understand it can be hard to follow but he shows the inputs for us on the side and shows us the command he's inputting at the top of the screen as well.
I know it’s hard to get your hands on one, but I also have a snackbox micro and I cannot recommend it enough. They are usually pretty good with stock if you pre-order at the beginning of their purchase windows
