A thanksgiving gift for everyone who bought the 5 Boxes Essential Licks series. This solo is comprised entirely of licks taught in that series, so if you bought it, you already have all the teaching and tabs to play this solo. Once you've learned the licks, you can practice your timing and tempo along with this solo.

This is not a lesson. This is a supplement to a premium lesson series. For people who don't own that series, it's simply a demonstration.

I like when people say video starts at this time but with this video and in this situation, you shouldnt even leave that comment here cuz this whole video should be watched start to finish because hes explaining something before he plays that relates to what hes about to play, it's not like trying to watch a UFC fight Or football game and you wanna skip all the BS and get right to the fight Or game, Every bit of information he says before that time you mark is important and should be listened to by the viewer". I dont know just saying my own opinion. this wasnt a performance even thow its bad ass playing, its a lesson so all of that before hand is important.

My God you've been at this a long time. So glad I just watched this video after seeing the title for over a year while perusing your channel. For some reason I figured this video was a backing track; didn't know it was tied to the 5 Boxes series that I own. This is a very special gift. Granted, this is going to be a long journey, but my goal is to develop the mind and ear to play licks over the appropriate chords. Very useful. Thanks as always for the exceptional everything. You are a blessing.

You answered your own question, to an extent. Through playing other's works, it is a mere step to go from there and come up with your own licks. Besides, there is nothing wrong here, particularly for the beginner.....how many times have you heard the same thing in different songs by different artists in completely different eras. In the end, it all works out, with time and effort; that is why we all go through the process of learning licks in the first place.

Place your index, middle and ring fingersover the D G B and E strings, press down at about the 15th fret or higher, strike as if you were going to play just a bar across all the strings but as soon as you pick the bottom strings ,slide your hand fast down the neck but keep the pressure on the frets the whole way down. Careful not to cut yourself on the fret edges :)

Can you tell me though, other than the Strat, what other equipment you have going on there to get that wonderful Bluesy tone?

@Larry13th
@Larry13th 12 лет назад
you can tune up if you want
@julianvickers
@julianvickers 11 лет назад
I honestly don't believe that is the case. People like SRV, Albert King etc played using these boxes (Although, Albert King did use different tuning), so it makes sense to teach licks using them. In these videos, he is constantly focussing on the licks, timing and phrasing, which is far more important than learning scales. Developing an ear is something you learn over time by playing and practising, and it doesn't matter whether you're using scales or boxes.
