To clarify with the last tip since there is some confusion: My point is that you shouldn't fight for fighting sake. Every time your team goes for a fight it should be a sure thing which is why I noted the importance of flanking. The goal is to build battle high easily, and not lose it. This is why when you win a fight you want to move on to something else because waiting for new enemies give up your advantage and potentially sacrifices the gains you just made. Remember don't take fights that aren't a sure thing. Fight Smart.
Something worth mentioning with keeping the map open that it took me embarrassingly long to realize was a feature, is that there should be a little lock button on the left side of the map window that makes the window only closable by clicking the x on the window, and pressing escape will no longer close it (mouse and keyboard players, unsure what it does for controller players). This is great especially if you tab target and use escape to untarget at all because now you wont accidentally close the map in the heat of battle. Another button on the left iirc is an eye icon that makes the map somewhat see through when not focused, which is useful if you dont like the map being such an obstruction of vision for the environment around you. It helps make sure you can still at least catch movement from behind the map at the least, rather than making it a whole blind spot.
Thanks, I've been trying new things to help improve my video making, and this time around I tried to do some animation. Honestly it came out better than I ever thought it would.
This is a really good video. I just wish most frontline players would watch it -_-. Im almost always on a losing team 9/10 matches are usually a loss. And i know I can improve but im not the only one who needs it and this video proves it.
It's usually something people will do to indicated you should follow them or if on an enemy target them. The games where it was on me I was in a 4 man party so they marked me so they could easily see/follow me
Does anyone know how to make it so you see their Job above the Health bar? I have searched for it so much but can't seem to find it at all...Much appreciated
So I don't know exactly what your asking. If you're referring to the job icon thing then character configuration -> display names -> General If your talking about how in pvp it shows the job instead of the enemies name then that should be there by default, but if not it would I think also be found in the display names settings on the pvp tab
@@alin7061I believe it’s the default for all the enemies but I think your own team just shows their names instead. Are you looking to change your team/alliance’s names to their jobs?
Frontlines, where doing the smart thing is mostly about trying to guess which stupid thing the other team will do. Though I don't really get why the situation pictured would have Adder commit to center as it seems like they have every incentive to hit the close north point as Storm does. The fact that this map requires a person to manually cap without damage as opposed to point gain via crystal DPS, it seems like often you just need a few people preventing a cap until you mop of the easier caps. Often no team is throwing everything at the center so small groups just hold each other from cap until the outside is decided and people start to converge. At least, that is what I most often see.
In the scenario I used mid is the worst choice for both storm and flames meaning it is the least likely to be contested. If adder did go for the small point north it would in all likelihood be contested leading to a 1v1 team fight which is always an all or nothing engagement. Moreover, the team to benefit most from this fight wouldn't be adder or storm because this fight would let flame very easily flank storm going so far as to even contest the other small point giving them not only a massive point swing(as they could likely take mid as well), but more importantly allow for easy battle high. Also going for mid in this case also opens up some options as if storm does try to commit to the west point then adder can easily flank either storm or flames to build battle high, and then if able capture the other points
So the point is to get objectives. Avoid pinches and learn when to back off. Also people need to learn to push and target the weaker members rather than one tank. If there is a premade, silence or stun the drk k. Do not stick together as it will make you a great target for the drk k combo. Also, please use and abuse your guard and heals especially when you are blasted by their lb😂 ppl dont use them and die like jelly.
Great video but I'm going to have to disagree on your last point. Fighting is not your last resort. You wanna stay engaged fighting and building BHs as much as possible. Most matches are won by the team that can constantly win group fights unless there are terrible spawns. A little more advance strategy when you know you are teamed with confident fighters is: ignoring objectives early game and focus heavy on building battle highs. Enemy team won't try to chase you since you are technically losing at the moment. So mid-late game when better obj spawn, your team becomes unstoppable because you can claim any of them since you can easily wipe the enemy team.
My point with tip 5 is that you shouldn't prioritize fighting instead you should aim for objectives, pick your fights wisely, and don't overextend. It's why I said your team should constantly look for flanks as it is a relatively safe way to get points and build battle high where as picking constant fight's increases the chances of team losing bh and the enemy gaining. I would say the team that usually wins is the team that fights smart getting the best objectives for their team then pushing their advantage by flanking one of the fighting enemies. This way they build not only safe points but also easy bh.
@@TheNastyNamazu well said. In the video it sounded to me like discouraging newer players from fighting. I have seen many players just idle "defending" objectives or just dpsing The Crystals when they should be fighting.
@@Oshawa87 Okay so when you made your character you had to pick a data center and a server. You being in Canada means you likely picked one of the NA centers(Aether, Crystal, Primal, Dynamis). The reason this matter is if you happen to pick Dynamis that might explain your queue issue as it is the newest(made this expac) and so its servers have rather small communities. Also the peak hours can also vary depending of the data center as well. With all that being said you may want to try using the data center travel feature and try queuing on another center like aether which is the go to center for NA. You can do this for free by right clicking your character before logging in and hitting visit another data center. Though note you will have some restrictions while not your home center/server Here is the official page for more details: na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/playguide/contentsguide/datacentertravel/
since Frontlines has daily rewards in the roulettes, you can usually get in solo queue within 10 mins if you are playing peak hours (evenings on weekdays, weekends). If you ever try queuing in the morning on a weekday, you’re likely going to face a 30+ min queue that might never pop. I’m on Crystal though, Aether usually sees more activity in the queues so it might be faster there :)
@@seb9995 I thought it was more of one of the team members from your alliance hitting any of another team is when the enemy alliance pops up on your map.
Sadly, tip 2 is kind of hard to actually pull of, because, sometimes i feel like one of the enemy alliances have botters in or pre-made parties to demolish both of the company partys, like sometimes its insane how ppl can instantly "target" you and instantly cc and kill you like to the point of having no chance of even healing or react and i play a drk and i sometimes because of that i die within few ssecs even tho its a battlefield when im basically not the only one qwho shoulsd be targeted, if that makes sense like CC bots/cheaters but in frontlines. other than that good tips! my FL ratio so far since EW is 1st place: 47 2nd place: 61 3rd place: 60
Some of that is you play DRK. I know from how I and some other friends of mine play that any DRK is target on sight first priority and death especially early are fine to keep DRK from building battle high. A Battle High V DRK on the enemy team is basically game over unless you have one yourself.
It will never not be funny having some Macro spammer scream to "Focus (winning team)" and then 20s later scream "PINCH INCOMING" and then everyone dies
I don't want to nitpick but suggesting people to use flags is not great advice imo. First of all, a lot of controller players play this game on ps5 and even on pc. Second, even keyboard players don't want to constantly click flags in chat cause it takes focus away from your gameplay, especially during combat. The best way to do calls is by using sound effects and general directions like cardinals and intercardinals like south, north-east, etc.
Fair; however, the map marker thing was more so a side tip to let new players know how that works since I was talking about the map, but even outside of that the tip serves two purposes A.) Making them aware of how flags work yes, but also B.) Getting them to pay attention to the chat. I do say that their not likely to ones to be directing their team and that they should for watch for when someone is Furthermore, most players aren't going to try and direct a team and in the few cases where they do it is likely easier for them to just use flags. Now I do agree with you that directions and sound effects are better, but to be most effective with that you'll really want to make macros for easy use, and that just a bit more than most players care to do
I mean, flank just means to come up around from behind a group. You can flank a single team. But pinch usually specifies that you get trapped between two teams (one of which is flanking you while you are facing the other). I think they server to be two separate callouts when used appropriately
Or, hear me out, get two dark knights and 3 astros/drg and automatically win. Careful planning and tactics are overrated, there is no match for absolute power.
I disagree. I've seen alliances with those same classes and if they don't know what they are doing they will be useless. Pre mades have lost before and people also need to learn how to handle premades. My tips is, avoid clumping, use your guard and heals, silence or stun dark k, and kill the weaker members in that team ( the healers). But the most important key to avoiding premade dark k combos is that you have to know when they will come to blast their lbs. Usually you can see them rushing in and that's when the team needs to spread, back up and then push. The map is your best friend for avoiding premade combos/ pinched.
@@sugarmilk28I also came up another method of backfiring those team comp DRK DRG + anything what they cooked is using SAM LB (possible, the best they can). Currently this patch, Purify buff will apply in advance even you failed to purify a debuff and then guard (cross your fingers not getting guard pierce by DNC RPR etc) I did that before and plucked out of their battle high Vs and their total loss of 50 to 80 points.
Don't play frontline is the best advice i can give. Crowd control makes the game mode insufferable and for some godforsaken reason they never implemented diminishing returns. Have fun tank mains.
This video boils down to: 1. Teach new players the most basic of basics so they share the video. 2. Add generally bad examples for decisionmaking, so you get more wins thanks to your "guide" Genius
"fighting should be your last priority" What the fuck am I hearing my man? In no way, ever. This video is aimed at newer players yes? How are they gonna get better if they're encouraged to not play the game? Unless you're in a party with others who you can coordinate with, what wins Frontline games? It's being able to play the game, making as much of an impact as you alone can. How do you learn to play the game? By fighting. Obviously some fights are worse than others and shouldn't be taken, but for the first 5 minutes that literally doesn't matter. Learn what you're capable of in fights, learn what you can get away with, how you can make an impact on the game. New players should run into the bricks wall as many times as it takes. They'll learn and get better. But they won't get better if they're just looking for the smart thing to do at every point of the game. Tldr Do fight, don't ever """"defend"""" Be the aggressor
The first half of the match is sooo important for building battle high, I can't even count the number of times ppl have said "its okay let them fight" only to be steamrolled by "premades". No, they're not premades. They're just hyped up on battle highs from farming kills. I will never understand how ppl will be afraid of dying when it's pvp.. just respawn and rejoin the group it isn't that big of a deal lol
