I was looking for this comment. That kid has absolutely incredible studio sound. if it's not w JLCO it will be with another very intense studio band. Guy has a serious life and career in front of him.
I met and heard Nathaniel on the road with JLCO last month - he’s a very fine young man and an exceptionally talented and motivated trumpet player! He wasn’t subbing, but sitting in with the section with Wynton, Ryan, Kenny, and Marcus handing off parts to him from time to time.
Thought for a minute I was listening to Mongo Santamaria, or Chano Pozo..... great sounding band. Wonderful to hear the vibe of Johnny "Rabbit" Hodges and Benny Carter in 2023...

gah damn, you know more schools attended ellington this year from washington than any other state? public schools tho… we couldnt compete with these guys :(
@@petestrckl6538 Im just talking the Southwest end, Roosevelt and Mount Si are hella good. We have Battle Ground High School in Southwest Washington but they haven’t gone to EE
@@calintt oh wow, then i guess they have gone(couldn’t find a video but I’d love to see it). My fault, still the culture around this area(Clark County) promotes music programs with as little competition as possible in order to make it as fun as possible. While I’m all for it being fun, the success of the bands are a little more important that only making it fun
I know it’s tough to love what you love bc peers may not share that same passion. But keep focusing on yourself and searching for and surrounding yourself with people who love this music as much as you do. Again, it’s tough because you are in an environment where people don’t care and may even put you down for loving this music. But it will allow you to go miles because at the end of the day, high school nor a competition decides whether you love to play or not. Rooting for you Alejandro 🙏
