And this was the moment and performance that made me fall in love with her and the song! I was like 10 or 11

i can't express in words how much i respect and love this woman's work. i've listened to her for the first time in 2008 when i was 7 years old, and i loved her voice and her songs (even though i didn't understand a bit of english). but i never got to look her up on the internet cuz at the time the internet services on my country were really expensive (Brazil) and i only got to hear her songs on radio or the mtv channel. Years later when i had kinda forgot about her (13yo) i came in contact with the cartoon Steven Universe on tv (and bc i'm brazilian all the cartoons around here are dubbed in our language. english was not that common or encouraged here at the time) and the character Garnet really appealed to me for some reason. at the time i already had access to a better internet service and was almost fluent in english (bc of constant contact with foreign media, music, games, etc...). Anyway, i knew who the brazilian voice actor for her was, but i was curious to know who was the original voice. and to my surprise, it was her. and as a teenanger (14yo), i got kinda obsessed and also caught by the nostalgia feeling. so i started to listen to all her songs and look up about her background. and honestly... she inspired me to become a voice actor here in my country too, and the way she supports her fans and say things about the harsh reality without fear of being shunned for telling the truth... i... i just got and still get speechless. Estelle i know you are probably not going to see this but, your art really helped that 14yo brazilian boy to figure out his path and speak his truth without fear of judment. and also provided me many MANY moments of happiness, chill and FUN with your amazing songs and lyrics. Thank you for being an example for us that want to be artists in any way, but are not encouraged in any way by our families (in my country our families usually tell us we're gonna starve to death if we choose to be actors or singers or dancers, etc...) or country system (our school system doesn't encourage ANY form of art related carreers). We usually don't believe we can, even though we can!! you and your work gave me the strength that i needed to stand up for me. Ps: I know it's totally impossible to happen. but i really hope that someday i get to give you a hug and personally thank you for this haha.

BGR is one of my favorite award shows. Really touching speeches and heartfelt performances.
