Is the kit supposed to use a recovery chute??

Why do you put the engine block right where the engine goes at the bottom?
@rwkhobbies1969
@rwkhobbies1969 Месяц назад
@@MercyStephen-pf9to The booster has a thrust ring on the aft end so that when staging occurs the entire booster separates (not just the motor). (Without the ring the motor shoots out the back and the booster tube gets charred by the sustainer motor).

Can you fly this rocket as just a single stage? If so, would that cause a CG issue?
@rwkhobbies1969
@rwkhobbies1969 5 месяцев назад
Yes, you can absolutely fly it as just a single stage, no cg issue.

How did you get the faded blue to white with the paint?
@rwkhobbies1969
@rwkhobbies1969 2 месяца назад
@@michaelwoodard6728 just spraypaint, no special tricks or masking. If you paint one of the colors, let it dry, then paint the next color while spraying a little bit of overlap the way the spraypaint just goes on naturally gives it the faded look.

Did you paint the white first or the blue on the main body tube?

I need help so my model rocket can hold a A motor up to a C motor motor but only a A motor fits how to I make it so a C motor fits
@AndersManix
@AndersManix 3 года назад
Both A and C motors are the same diameter. However the c11 motor is bigger because it’s 24 mm while an A motor is 18 mm. You can use a c motor just make sure it’s 18 mm like a c6 5.

Hey there. Geat video but one thing I have learned before is that especially you never want to use Elmers on the shock cord part. The heat will make it gummy and it has a high chance of ripping off and you could lose your rocket. I just don't want that to happen to you ;) If I were you, I would use CA Or Superglue... We have been building for years with superglue and its never let us down. But hey it's your rocket and if it works for you, that's great. Just trying to help!!

2 stage rockets are very fun and also very frustrating. Sooner or later they will fail. The 2nd stage won't light, or the 1st stage won't separate cleanly and that will cause the 2nd stage to fly erratically, or the CG will be too far aft, etc, etc!! When I was a kid in the 70s, my first 2-stage was a Beta - it was very small and flew on a mini engine. It was VERY reliable, until the day it wasn't... The 2nd stage didn't light and it lawn-darted, pushing the nose entirely into the body tube. Every multi-stage rocket I had eventually failed. Those were fun days!!

Put your aluminum 90 against the body tube lined up with the launch lug line. Secure it with tape or rubber bands. Lay your launch lug right up against the aluminum. Carefully put two dots of CA on the lug/ body junction, opposite the aluminum. So none goes over to the aluminum! This is the best way to get two launch lugs lined up dead perfect. Then fillet. It works best prior to attaching the fins. It’s more accurate than trying to line up by eye.

Can you put the launch lug lower? Just wondering the instructions had it place lower and near one of the fins
@rwkhobbies1969
@rwkhobbies1969 4 года назад
Yes it's fine to put the launch lug lower per the instructions. Let me know of any other questions good luck with the flight!

What happens to the set of fins that detach? Or does it not detach?
@rwkhobbies1969
@rwkhobbies1969 4 года назад
The set of fins that are painted black, which I call the booster stage, become detached (or really more like jettisoned) from the rocket during flight upon burnout of the booster stage and ignition of the sustainer stage (blue set of fins) motor. At this moment, due to pressure between the motors (which should be taped together with clear tape) causes the booster stage to jettison from the bottom of the rocket and the sustainer stage continues under the thrust of the recently ignited sustainer motor. The booster stage will just free fall down to the ground by itself. It does not need a recovery system because its shape causes it to tumble/flutter, like a leaf falling off a tree. Does that make sense? That's a really good question feel free to ask more questions so we can ensure a successful flight!
