Wonderful. The frag, the review and the (on my screen) lavender color of your shirt. Lol I have both Faun and a linnen (massimo dutti) shirt in the exact same color. To me faun is a chypre with a distinctly 'bleeding' rose note and the earthy maple syrup of immortelle. Also a hint of skanky cumin, possibly just a facet of the immortelle. It's retro yet quirky and modern, and i adore it. Thanks Pep. Love your thoughtful reviews.
This is my favorite perfume, in a mini collection of 23 perfumes. I absolutely fell in love with this one. It really is hard to describe, to me it's a very green, masculine scent with a rose base note. I find it unique, strange, and so far, still my no. 1.
Nice to see you back! Don't worry, the abstract and evocative descriptions are a great bonus. You're going to make people like this one in spite of your wishes, it seems haha.
Just received this fragrance as a blind buy. Your description is dead on. Your description is precisely what I get from this fragrance. It is an instant love for me.
Great review, Pep. What you said about people seeing immortelle listed in a note breakdown and having a preconceived notion of what the fragrance would be like is true for me, haha! I'm glad that you clarified this is not immortelle-dominant; it's a note that I tend to struggle with. But, I'm still curious about this one, and as you mentioned it seems to still be under the radar in the fragrance community--which I actually like. Also, totally unrelated to the fragrance, but I really like your intro music!
I'm really curious to try this one, the immortelle scared me a bit since it's a very polarizing note for me, but after your description I need to get a sample of this
Great review, Pep. This is a tricky one for me, I think more due to certain expectations on the namesake (the myth, not the play) which I just can't seem to push aside whenever I wear it. Though I have attributed that unexpected flip as it dries down more towards that namesake than anything else. It lures me in, it changes before my eyes.. but then fails to meet those expectations of a more primal, sexual nature. It's a great perfume but one I've never been able to justify owning more than a decant of.
Really good review. So often I watch reviewers describe scents that I am familiar with, and I think to myself, "You don't know what the hell you're talking about..." Often it seems to be the ones churning out content solely for clicks and ad revenue. This is the exact opposite of that. A spot-on description of what I personally think of as an under-appreciated scent. Also, I have the exact same relationship with scents that I love despite not fully understand why.
Good point about Immortale, it's just one of those notes that seems to want to dominate when it's present. I like the note, but it's intriguing to think of it as a supporting player. This one is high my to try list. Eloge du Traitre is one of my all time favorites, so there are elements of this that sound like it would be up my alley.
@@TheScentinel never. I am happy to own it as perfume is my hobbie. I enjoy leting people sniff it. some people rectch. I also have Marquis de Sade - labdaum perfection. Une Amourette is also magical. love them.
@binkkytube Nice! Honestly, when i smelled Secretions, it wasnt as bad as i had prepared myself for. But i am not sure it smelled of all those bodily fluids to me.
Puppy breath was my first thought. wet metallic visceral. After a time it to me smels like I picked a cockel shell off the beach at low tide. sniff it and think, I think somthing is still alive in there!
I’ve recently been sampling this house. I will need to re visit this one. I feel like this is one that I liked. There were ones that I thought I would like but ended up not working for me. My favorites so far are Bijoux Romantique and La Fin du Monde. I still have more samples to go through.
Love your like finding a genie in a bottle that only works for you analogy! How I love your way with words! BTW, what was the first fragrance you wore after your break?
Why is it that nobody can easily explain this fragrance? I guess I have to get a sample. Im not a big fan of this house so I refuse to blind buy anything. I own 6 from ELDO. I don’t like the others. They’re so weak and bland.
Always better to get a sample, since it seems your nose sometimes disagrees with reviews. It wouldn't be a safe blind buy and i'd never recommend a blind buy anyway.
@@TheScentinel yes I agree, perfumes like this you need to sample first. I read what other ppl on Fragrantica had to say about it and a huge majority really didn’t like this perfume.
