Eternabond is a repair tape for easily repairing damage to any solid surface roof like rubber, vinyl, metal,PVC, etc. It works particularly well for quick fixes with RV roofs. It is even great for large repairs or adding extra support where needed.
Application of the tape is super easy. Cut to the desired length, peel off the backing of the tape and stick down over the damage. The roof needs to be clean and dry. If applying in colder temperatures the tape needs to be warm prior to application.
We have been using this tape for 4 years. Even our first repairs are still holding up great and have not leaked once. We think eternabond is a great product that every traveler should have on hand in case of some roof damage. We have found many more uses beyond just roof repairs as well!

It definitely holds well. We put 8 solar panels on the RV roof with Eternabond Tape only. Our actual house roof was damaged during Hurricane Irma... the RV solar panels held on with no issues! Great product & review Tom.

I used this product according to manufacturer guidelines and it is still working well after 5 years in harsh UV southern climates with wind and rain. I adhered the mesh type tape over a front RV corner flashing and wall panel and it worked well. There is some movement going down the road and with expansion and contraction in a wood framed large 5th wheel as well. This is after expensive "professional" repairs failed. I would have just put larger corner flashing on, but my good friend who owned the RV doesn't always appreciate the details.

This stuff is the modern version of duct tape. It is a necessity in everyone's Just in Case kits. I have used it twice for emergency repairs. I had a stud from a semi trailer fly up onto my roof and melt a hole into my rubber roof. That patch is still solid three years later.

Great video and product. We use that when the units are being built. We call it slide out tape. Because we only use it on the out most edge of the slide out roof along the back edge of the facia on the out side. We use this to seal the mounting screws that hold the facia to the roof. If we used a sealant in a tube it would get all over the slide wipe or flaps. But back in my dealer days I used that stuff to fix a lot of things. A trade that had a sun room attached left holes over 35 foot of the unit. After running one long strip down the side and Installing a new 20 awning you could hardly see it. Also used it like your self to patch rubber roofs from the same in issues u mentioned. Only thing I have never been successful on was the under belly of the unit. Seams no mater how clean I got it and followed it with alcohol and any other tricks I could think of it always fell off. But I do have a small roll handy in the camper just in case. O and one extra piece of advice is round off the corners slightly. This helps it to stay stuck and look better

A few weeks ago i painted the black rubber type of stuff to the seals on the roof of our van but the van still leaked. .. so today in easter friday and i spent all day removing that paint on stuff because tomorrow i am putting down a similar tape on our van... .. i thought to watch a few vids to get a few tips .. cheers 😎👌

I used this tape and it's great. I was wondering u said it doesn't adhere to wet surfaces. I wanted to use it on the outside of my pool. I did use a pool leak kit. But the side of my pool rubbed on a stone while we played. I'm going out tomorrow and getting some to put on the outside. What do u think. Lol or maybe I'll be letting UK.

After getting hit with a Microburst Storm in Utah, and 70 MPH winds, several panels on my 19' trailer pulled loose including several at the front leading edge corners of my trailer. Since we were only about halfway through our trip, I temporarily used 6" Eternabond to cover areas where the siding had pulled loose. The Eternabond worked great and after returning home, i had the trailer repaired, but at the front corners where i had covered the corners, the adhesive left tracks up and down the sides opf the trailer. After trying severqal different solvents, the only thing I found that would disolve the Eternabond adhesive without removing the underlying paint, was Goof Off. I tried, MEK, Laquer Thinner, Acetone, Gasoline, Mineral Spirits and several other Adhesive removers. If you need to ever remove the Eternabond adhesive, use Goof Off. Wish someone else had old me this before all my experimentation.

Bruce Watts I would be tempted to try oil, like olive oil. It works great to remove sticky stuffs.

Also use Automotive pre Painting preps, "Wax & Grease" remover or Dupont brand Prepsol Solvent. Its primarily used to remove silicone oversprays, oils from air tools, and hand/finger oils before primer or paint are applied. Removes all tape and glue adhesives without harming painted surfaces.

Can you apply eterbabond to a moveable join such as a plastic hinge as sometimes used on camper trailer hatches? or is the more flexible sealant than can be used for that application?

i want to use it in my 1000 gallon tank to stop a leak at the side of the tank like a small split about 2.5 inches opening,can it work? and how long after i can fill the tank with water again after installing the tape inside the plastic tank?

I have used it over existing caulk without issue. I first cleaned the caulk with denatured alcohol. Just be sure that it is wide enough to cover the entire caulk. I had a series of leaks that stemmed from where the front trailer cap meets the roof. I used two strips of Eternabond. One that started half way across the original caulk leaving a good two inches to adhere to the roof. I then used the second strip to overlap the first by about an inch and then had about a two inches to adhere to the front cap. Its been water tight ever since.

Will it stick to a existing dicor seal around a vent to beef up the seal?

As long as the old surface is dry you might try it. We've had good results on a wide variety of surfaces and materials Tom. One comment ... Several of the examples he shows are plain edge. I suggest some form of edge sealant for EPDM etc. applications to improve the water resistance of this patch when applied... For instance Geocel4500., Chemline N-1 that sort of product. Dicor has a Lap Sealant...Why not that first?

I just put Dicor lap seal around a roof vent fan a week ago and it's still soft and looks like ugly bubble gum.. I regret not just putting this stuff instead. If I peal the Dicor off best I can or mold it flat, can I then roll eternabond over it?

One question--how long does it take to set? I have seen other tapes that can take 24-48 hours before they can be exposed to water, etc., which obviously complicates choosing when to make repairs.....

Etenabond is intended for temporary seal. It will not last long. I use poly seal and it's permanent.

I'm a roofer of 28 yrs & when I retired 15yrs ago I wouldn't have trusted TAPE but hey ...new chemicals w/better adhesions. Give it 20yrs in the desert..we'll see ?

With that kind of UV exposure, any roof will take a beating. Ten years for EPDM or TPE or other membrane roof, max. We installed a self-adhesive membrane on our flat porch roof 20 years ago (different brand) and it's still leakproof. I spent 10 years in roofing myself, and that still surprises me.

I am not sure I follow, if you are asking about sealing on top of the eternabond it should be fine, I have put dicore over it without issues.

I taped over my RV fridge vent with it after replacing the fridge with a residential style. Though I did put a little structure inside that whole. Still, a very large surface area.

I bought the kit with 2 50-foot rolls of 4", the cleaner, the prep (stuff to make the surface tacky) and the roller. I'm dreading the whole thing. I have a class C with issues in the cabover on both sides of the cab. My question is, do I really need to take all those steps or can I skip the prep can to make the surface tacky? I understand it needs to be clean and dry, but should I go that extra mile? Thanks. I need an answer or opinions fairly quickly.

there is a cleaner that Eternabond makes, and it works great. Spray it on, wipe it down, and apply the tape. I have used this to seal everything on my camper roof, and I dont need to use dicor hardly at all! The only things I use dicor on are my skylights and vent pipes , just because they are plastic, will become brittle over time and will need replacement. Removing Eternabond is very difficult, so I choose to use dicor for easier removal on these items.

Do the prep. Soap and water, rinse, use the spray prep cleaner (it's an acetone product) and wipe it down well with a clean dry rag. Since mine was a straight line, I used a straight edge and made a pencil mark for the leading edge. Apply the tape slowly and make sure you aren't leaving bubbles or gaps. I peeled the backing off about 6" at a time and made sure it went down straight. Use a roller or a stiff card to press the tape down and activate the sticky goo. I used the roller, then my fingers and an old credit card to work the tape down into gaps. I just did a seam on mine and it looks better than original, and I expect not to have to mess with it again for years. Altogether, the prep and application on an 8 foot seam took an hour or so. I would say the prep is pretty important... don't skip the prep. One of these videos recommended using the Dicor sealant along the edges of the tape... I may do that later in the year when the temps are cooler.

Putting this product over sand and grit is not in keeping with product guidelines. The examples you show look as if no prep was not done and the seal along the edges isn't that good, unless a sealant has been use. The finish is a mess for someone who does this for a living.
