the moment she sees Ethan, she's suspicious, but the moment she sees his team, she realizes the imminent danger. And knowing what Ethan does and her assignment there, she forms a semblance of the scale of said danger. I really like that. And the way she helps the team out later in the final act with the bombs, it's a nice parallel from her final act moment in the third one, albeit less intense since she isn't alone this time around.

I like that Julia's husband Erik is so understanding about the situation as you can tell by the say he says "See you later Doc." that he's been let in on the secret due to having his life saved by Ethan.

Such great scenes. I loved Luther's heart to heart with Ilsa and the moments Ethan, Julia and Ilsa had at the end. I hope the closure we get to the end of the franchise is as good as the closure we got to Julia's story. Beautifully done and the way it should be.
If am being honest the chemistry between Rebecca Ferguson and Tom Cruise was epic 😆 one of those film series where each film was better than the last 😌
Rebecca Ferguson is great for Ilsa, she has literally all the face features needed for the character (intelligence, good-heart, elegance, melancholy, subtle expressiveness) but she's way too good looking and this makes difficult for the audience to understand the most important aspect of her character: SHE LOVES ETHAN, BUT ETHAN DOESNT LOVE HER AT ALL (he just connects to her, he understands her sorrow and feels sorry for her, because her tragedy is a bigger, far more heartbreaking version of his own)...didficult to believe he fell in love with Julia, the girl in MI1 opening, Naya in MI2 but cant feel anything for the best looking woman in the franchise by miles, but that's the way it is. That's so clear it just makes me loose faith in humanity when i see most people not getting it: she always saves Ethan, risking his missions and life for him for no reason, while Ethan never does the same for her (he saves her only once, in Casablanca, but just because he was chasing her to get the disk back); she asks him desperately to live toghether but he refuses (and look at how subtly but deeply embittered she looks when his silence make her understand that...this is what a great actress does, not Julia cringe-worthy crying and moaning); at the end of RN he doesnt care about seeing her go, he's just happy he could help her, while she hugs him as she cant let him go; after saving him in Casablanca she caresses him like only a lover would do, but he doesnt even have a reaction, as she's nothing for him on affective level which instead he immediately has when he see Benji...and again, look at Ilsa's face when that happens and she's forced to step away alone as always; in Fallout first scenes she looks very embittered, so much Walker thinks she's ethan's ex girlfriend. What level of lack of attention and empathy people need to not see that?
She cant act, MI3 final is one of the cringest scenes i've ever seen. Opening scene is good just because of P. S. Hoffman. Saddest scene is definitely RN ending: Lane glass box and Ilsa hug with Ethan are the greatest most powerful symbolism i've ever seen in a commercial movie...make you cry if you understood movie and characters (not easy given how original, complex and deep they are compared to flat, useless dumb characters like Julia)
The scene were Luther and Ilsa talks about Ethan and Julian and the scene were Julia is talking to Ethan while he's lying down always crumples my heart.
"In all the years I've known Ethan, he's only been serious about *two* women." One of these women is Julia Meade-Hunt. *The other is Ilsa Faust.* One is light, the other darkness. But with Julia there is always shadow within light, and with Ilsa there is always light within shadow. Julia appeals to the side of Ethan Hunt that wants to live a ordinary life. A life where he can pretend that the guilt and horror he carries with him everyday doesn't exist. But Hunt can never escape himself, that is why he can't be with Julia. But Ilsa is different. She is a creature of his world and can relate to Ethan in ways Julia can't. She is a match for the wild untamed spirit that lives within him. But she is more than his reflection. She is an equal to his true self. We will see what Ilsa means to Ethan Hunt in Dead Reckoning Part I&II and how far he will go to protect the other great love of his life.
Thank you for uploading this, Ethan meeting Julia is my favourite moment from the movie, the team also being there makes it even better. But you should have not cut there in the end, I wanted the Elsa talking to Ethan moment too when Julia leaves.

Cause he doesnt love Ilsa man that's clear. He doesnt give much about her despite her loving him much more than Julia and being much better than her under every aspect. This is just a perfect depiction of how casual and tragic love can be: Julia goes away cause she cant live with ethan and he needs to let her go because he loves her, while Ilsa stays with him despite him not loving her, because she does: Ilsa's love for Ethan is much more powerful, tragic and poetic than Ethan's love for Julia: it's like the blind love a stray dog (which will follow his owner to the end of the world, and the owner is certain about that: "I'm coming with you"-"I know") would give to anyone who rescued him, total and heartbreaking, even if it gets almost nothing back. Almost no one getting it just goes to show the level lack of empathy has reached in our society. People only get love stories if they are forced into your face with a cliché character like Julia that doesnt have any other function in the plot except cringly crying and moaning all the time for being the impossible love of the hero. No wonder movies are all so dull and cliché if people cant even get a little more subtle form of love and tragedy. You cant even spell the name of the greatest female character in spy movies history lol, what happened to aesthetic taste nowadays.
I love how Luther allowed Julia to help her after he was against Ethan marrying her in MI3 along with how Julia’s new husband didn’t create a love triangle and how Ethan and Julia got that sweet closure

MI 3 was not the best, but Tom Cruise and Michelle Monaghan had such great chemistry in it. I'm glad they brought her back for this Edit: MI 3 was RATED as not the best over some of the other movies in the franchise. I personally liked it a lot
Here he was really just projecting his guilt for losing the bomb on her for no reason. Ilsa is literally the only character in the whole franchise who never needed to be saved by anyone: she saved Ethan five times and Benji twice. Her being killed was clearly just a cringe plot armor to a moronic villain that isnt able to kill a mosquito to make him look a little intimidating. Nothing narratively relevant about that, they clearly just needed to get rid of the actress for some reason. Pairing Ferguson is hard, but at least they could have replaced her with an actress a little more charming and with a less dumb looking face than Hayley Atwell.

Rarely seen such a shitty movie in theaters: last two MI were great so i went safe and it turned out to be one of the most awful pieces of crap i've ever seen. You feel him more with Julia because the movie is made this way, he loves Julia, despite Ilsa being better under every aspect and loving him much more and in a much more tragic way than Julia does. That's what makes this scene deep. Julia walks away from Ethan and he needs to let her go because he loves her, while Ilsa stays with him even if he doesnt love her, cause she does. I think that's pretty clear.
At one point somehow we need to move on eventhough we can't be with someone we had/have life with.. Sometimes it's just not meant to be.. At least at this point Ethan and Julia, can do their closure and start new chapter in their book respectively. Close. Seal. Move on. It's painful but that is what needed most.

I'm a fan of Ethan and Ilsa as a couple first and foremost. But if that doesn't work out between those two, I'd rather he go back to Jullia. In the end, Ethan and Jullia are made for each other if we're being honest. His reason for divorcing Jullia doesn't seem very logical to me either. Why could he do to another love interest what he apparently couldn't do to her??? Ending up with Atwell's character wouldn't make sense at all.

This scene hit me hard. There was a time that I was so in love with someone, but I had to give her up to fulfill the calling of my profession. Do I regret making that choice? No! Because like the hero I understand the importance of what I do, and sacrifices are necessary. Would I have done it differently? I do not think so. Was it difficult? Oh yes. I miss her everyday and I keep praying that the time would come when I can honestly say I got no more love for her. Till then this is the price of getting to do what I do..... And no.... It wouldn't surprise me if she and her husband Erik end up in the last 2 movies and help with a part of the mission by validating Ethan's cover as he's trying to infiltrate a hospital or medical facility. Or maybe they end up getting kidnapped and the team have to save them.

Just because they have both brown hairs, blue eyes and very white skin doesnt mean they are the same man, they look very different. Cruise chose Rebecca Ferguson cause he saw her in a TV show and thought she looks like Ingrid Bergman, his favourite actress: that's why the character is called Ilsa, that's a reference to Ilsa Lund of Casablanca.
