Hayden talked before about how, originally, Ethel was the matriarch of the story. She was the daughter of a preachers, the wife of a preacher, and hated men in the end. She was the original leader of the Daughters of Cain, a man eating cult of all girls. She said that she hasn't started on anything about Vera, so this probably comes from that point where Ethel was still the matriarch! Meaning, if we wanna use the current names of characters, Willoughby is the son of a preacher here.

@milolavander3563 YES!!! Feels like theres so some hints in the song. Obviously the the narrator and the son of the preacher being the parents of Ethel. The neighbors daughter going missing and being found dead being a foreshadow into her daughter's future "America beat you in line" being a tell of the time frame Maybe some more? That's as much as I can gather
