This is the final episode of this 2001 German series on the post-war ethnic cleansing of Germans. It looks at the aftermath of their expulsion; the resettlement of expellees in what became East and West Germany and how they fared in subsequent years, particularly in West Germany. This includes discussion of integration, the award of compensation through the ‘equalisation of burden’ policy, the expellees’ associations and the case of Neugablonz, a new community and manufacturing centre created by the expelled Sudeten Germans of Gablonz. The documentary also looks at those Silesian Germans who were able to stay in what was now Poland.
