I can see the people at Ethos tomorrow morning wondering why they got hundreds of orders for this :) Thanks Brian looks like some good stuff will order some when I am out of what I use now.
I used it for the first time on my truck, two things that jump out at me was the small nozzle and the small bottle amount of product. Other then that, it’s great!
Yea,i was not impresed with the small bottle size either but...i,ve had it for about a month now and i,ve hardly cracked a third if that.i guess the amount used depends on what you use it for.i use it for touch ups after a wash.pollen and lite road film.the microfiber saturates extensively after a while, use it then a clean dry one to buff and remove streaks.i wouldnt use this in hot sun, cures WWAAYY to quickly
Ethos defy is the best on the market right now it is way better than anything from the Adams products and the chemical guys products! Ive purchased a ton of different detail sprays from different companies and i can honestly say my search is over because ethos defy is amazing it offers crazy slickness and its extremely hydrophobic and it leaves a nice ceramic layer of protection on the car! You can also use it as a waterless wash! I love it! ❤
How is the durability, especially compared to something like Beadmaker? I'm interested in this primarily as a drying aid / topper. How long does the slickness hold up ?
Holds up really well.winter wash self serve spray wash if you cant get your p washer out...quick dry towel spray on pretty decent re protection if you pre prepped for winter.if not still decent protection.
Bought the product. The nozzle exploded on the third pull. Also sent the wrong size off amazon. The Ethos team were great and sent me a second bottle ALL THE WAY TO AUSTRALIA. If anyone buys this, its great, just keep a spare nozzle just incase.
I have been watching your videos for around 2 years. I honestly never saw a product reviewed as “go get it now”. So I went and got it!! Can’t wait to try it and compare to the Griots 3 in 1 ceramic wax! I honestly buy a lot of products reviewed on this channel and have never been disappointed. Thanks Brian!
Fab, when do you think you will make a video on Ethos Graphene Matrix Coating? I want to offer it to my clients because of the durability and ease of use but I want to see more reviews on it.
FAB Automotive Detailing Great! I offer Ethos Ceramic Wax and CQuartz UK as my two options after paint correction for my clients. I wanted to switch to a ceramic with more durability without being difficult to apply.
@@natebramlage55 hey i know durability varies by location and up keep but i am considering the ethos ceramic wax so wanted to know average durability that you are seeing from your clients?
2 bottles @ 40% off and $3 shipping! Sold! I was just in the market for a topper with some pop. Tac shinee is 86'd, gyeon qd scored high with forensic detailing in gloss meters just under shinee but reviews where a mixed bag. This seemed like a better buy overall. Ethos lineup, bottle labeling, triggers, and website is streamlined and consumer friendly. I like that a lot. Thanks for the review. P. S. Brian, will you be reviewing Scott from DPC's new prosumer line of coatings coinciding with his new website and product(s) launch?
I started using this about 2 weeks ago. I love it. Its been a rainy week in NY and i usually have to wash after it because of water spots and rain. Not with this, it leaves the surface slick.
If this was 16oz for the same price, it would be perfection. And I haven't even tried it yet, just ordered it though! Ethos is underrated, especially the gloss their products bring. I don't see the Ethos refresh for sale anymore🤔 I like that as well as the ceramic pro wax.👍
You’ll be amazed at how little you’ll use. The sprayer they put on this bottle is perfect. Coated an Escalade and Palisade windows and paint and only used less than a quarter of the bottle
@@shinecoastdetailing9793 I'm pretty sure they fine tuned the sprayer specifically for defy's formulation. When I squeeze the trigger on a Chem guys bottle... X amount of product shoots. The defy trigger is small and specifically shoots an incredibly fine mist, it's like 1/3 the volume of the CG trigger squeeze or less. I sprayed a Kia suv minus the glass and didn't use a 5th of the bottle. If I put this in a CG spray trigger I'd probably dumped half the bottle. The mist is a bit delicate to work outside with a breeze so I squeeze slower to compensate a bit.
Took over 2 weeks to receive my order. There's no company phone to call and ask questions. Everything is done by email. The Defy Product is easy to apply and wipe off. I was expecting a least a 12 or 16 oz bottle for the price. Leaves paint feeling soft and does repel water. Don't care for the spray nozzle. The locking button is a pain. I've only used the product for 2 weeks now. Fix the spray nozzle and quantity size. Then I would consider recommending.
Fantastic video my friend! Glad to see you love it as much as I do!!! Ethos has been putting in a lot of work and testing to bring some game changing stuff to the market! Absolutely LOVE defy! It's currently on my car now! Also, I do all my appliances with it too!😁👍🏻 take care my friend!
I had my car full PPFd, recently, and I went back, yesterday, for the PPF 2 week checkup, and I received a 24oz bottle of this, for a ceramic booster/ topper/ maintenance wipe, and this stuff is incredible. I live about 35 miles from the detailer, and when I got home, I had bugs on my windshield, and my front end. I sprayed this on the windows and the front end, and it wiped right off. No streaking, and no fuss, and it was super slick. Literally makes me want to throw my Beadmaker in the trash.
Brian or anyone else, how would this compare to Beadmaker? I’m primarily interested in gloss and protecting my base layer of sealant. Can this product be used as a topper on a sealant? Thanks!
Absolutely. Throw the bead maker away. I tried bead maker once and tossed it. It lasted all of a week on my paint. This is will last longer and it’s benefits stick around. I put one coat on 3 weeks ago and it’s still acting like I just put it on. Sat through many rain storms and two washes so far. Buy it
Ken-Jeeper yes sir I am. Not sure what difference that makes in the quality of a product! I’ve tried enough products to know right away what’s good or not. Beadmaker was virtually non existent after one rainfall
I have to agree about bead maker. It felt and looked fantastic after application. That was in3a Sunday. By the next weekend I couldn't tell that I applied a drop of it. It was completely gone. For a drying aid or quick detailer I guess it works. As a long term protectant, no way I would recommend it or use it again.
Does anyone know what the starting gloss unit numbers were on either car? I love seeing the results of how products can increase gloss. One of my favorite parts. Thanks
All his test panels avg around 75- 88 before applying a product. Hell do a quick polish with probably hd speed and apply 2 coats of the test product. Very few shoot up over 97. I've only seen like 3 break 100. Anything over 93-95 is going to look outstanding.
Mr. Brian, thanks for your review and video. I purchased Defy because of Ethos announcement, detailers reviews and because of preparation for drought season. We have experienced the saharian dust in Puerto Rico where the highest recorded was years ago with 154 and this past June 23rd blasted that record with 305. All vehicles had this fine white dust in them that even going outside to look was a risk, especially those with respiratory conditions. Also, when driving you couldn't see clearly beyond 500 mts, so imagine what it was like taking a look outside the window you couldn't see clearly mountains or even buildings. In preparation to undergo by drought season, I finally received it in July 1st and used it in my stepfather's Toyota Camry sport 2004 metallic green as well as in my mom's Toyota Corolla 2014 Super White and all came out as excellent as you did on that Nissan. I was going to use it on my own Kia Soul XLine 2020 but have been working on my regular job a lot besides drought season has almost stopped my detailing side job but not entirely because of Defy and/or ONR. I was able to let Mr. Tim Coates know about what a great product he has with Defy like others he has that I've been able to try too. In my opinion, definitely Ethos Defy has surpassed any rinseless product available. Xoxo from Puerto Rico 👍🇵🇷
Im wondering about the fillers, maybe it has those in case you use it as a waterless wash to fill and cover up the micro-scratches and swirls that were caused ;) No but seriously, I'm still not convinced waterless and rinseless washing is not causing and damage to the paint in any way. I can see the increase in gloss it produces right away though. Correction, gloss and slickness is impressive :D
Literally got on here to message you and tell you to try Defy! I’ve been using it for a few weeks now and all I can say is this is a dream product! I have never used a product that applies so effortlessly. The benefits blow any spray sealant out of the water. It lasts longer than a week unlike everything else. It lasts through washes and rains. Finishes on glass streak free. The water falls off the paint like a good ceramic coating. Other company’s might as well shut down manufacturing because they will never be this good! I will be using this on my customers cars
I’ve honestly hit it on accident a couple times but always change it back to like - maybe some sausage fingers cause I don’t see why there would ever be a dislike to any of these videos.
Overpriced, but Ethos has some killer stuff, this is one of them. Bought the gallon to feel better about the price. Not much different than my other waterless washes but it's got awesome lifting and flashing.
Defy by a landslide. I have both. I use Uber more cuz it's cheaper when I'm just going to work. I bust out defy when I'm going somewhere nicer like out for dinner and want to be a little more flashy. I use Uber on door jambs wheels glass cuz I don't need gloss there. I always have a bottle of of both in my trunk. Saves me a bit of defy.
@@karlinwilliamson9329 pink one. I use it for more cleaning power than gloss or protection. When I want to add a dash of gloss or protection I'll defy my car. I haven't bought Uber ceramic bc I have defy and also I'd rather get something else like McKee's sio2 Rinseless concentrate. Also a other good one.
I've used it and really liked it. I've tried many of their products and have yet to disappointed in any of them. top notch company with great products and customer service
Probably a great product. To expensive for the amount u get. If they made this a rinseless with dilution ratios it be in it to win it. Most people would as well. Only con is the price. Nice video
D3fy will make you lazy...but when the weather sucks ...its great stuff.as any waterlless wash dont use it on serious filth from the knees down...better off waiting on weather to cooperate and do a wash.none the less i love the stuff.dust / pollen lite road film...just watch the crap off the road.not a miracle in a bottle if you have sand etc.better off leaving it or self serve sprayer car wash ...my 2 cents.
Could be used with a maintenence wash but would just be over using product since it does seem to last. I would layer this with 2 coats for optimal results. From my knowledge it is not recommended to be diluted. Wolfgang UBER Rinseless Wash or ONR would be more economical for that, now with that being said the gloss & sickness is second to none this product lives up it's name the quality is worth the value no doubt about that 👍
Wondering, Is your shop a converted old house ? It has features that suggest that to me. Either way, It looks like a great set up that is very personal and functional.Glad you have a secure spot to your magic .
Just ordered the Ethos Defy. Can't wait to try it. Not buying any more products this year. No more! Brian, your "must go out and get" choices have been a game changer👍
And what are your thoughts? I am surprised at how slick it becomes after the wipe-off. It works well on interior surfaces, infotainment screens, and I use it in the house, too. What I do not care for is how it atomizes too well. I have to hold it very close to the surface, otherwise half the spray flies out into the Ethos* *lol
@@craig.encinitas exactly my thoughts too! I messaged the guy who works or owns Ethos and told him about that. I'm just going to try and change the sprayer. Love the product- slickness and gloss are unreal. I think but don't know for a fact, that they put silicone in the product for that slickness. Have not used on interior. Seems like it would make too slick. But use it on windows, light's, wheels. I also use on my stainless steel sink in the house. Thanks for your comment. Might try it on interior. But the sprayer has to go for sure.👍👌
Dave Gillis - In fairness to Tim, the sprayer has such a fine mist because the bottle is pretty small. And since a little bit goes a long way, I get why they have it like that. Ironically, Ethos Car Care and Adonis Detailing are located just down the street from my work building here in Vista, California. I may have to stop in sometime and say hello. Tim does stand behind the product, and he is quick to message me back through Instagram. I like to support local businesses, and have used the ceramic pro wax on a couple cars I have detailed recently. Slick, shiny and easy to apply. What more could I ask for? -Cheers.
@@craig.encinitas Cool! I support locals too. Glad to hear you do. I work on my car in a carport so it's twice as bad in the slightest wind. I'm in Michigan so weather is changing soon. Give a shout out to Tim for me. Tell him love the product and next time I need wax definitely going to try his ceramic wax.
I have used it for a 2ndry touch up after a wash.who,s perfect? You miss spots, you have water spots etc...amazing. not a fan of waterless washes, but for pollen anything that comes from the air.lite road film you get after a rain,no issues.the shine is amazing.my 2 cents.it wull clean up car wash snafus such as soap residue you missed.i bought the stuff no paid endrsement here.
Most impressive! It's great to see how some of these companies are really putting their all into making top shelf products for the enthusiasts as well the professionals at very affordable prices. Kudos to ETHOS, TW, TLC, and a few others... Definitely raising the bar!
Ethos customer service is top notch.just email Tim,usually same day or 24 hours worst case...or call you might catch him at his desk,i have.mostly about heat and sunlite issues.
I received 2 bottles of Ethos defy , i was amazed but the ease of use also the slickness, i used it on my airplane which has a one year old paint and always hangered, the paint is so slick that for a minute i thought the plane is gonna fall out of the sky after a short flight i believe i saw higher than normal airspeed (5 miles) more verification is needed, i just hope that the product is reasonably durable, thank you Brian.
Mythbusters proved a clean waxed car can increase your gas mileage by about 1-2 on a decently long straight trip. Should apply to planes just the same.
I applied this to my white traverse and went on a long trip and did two weeks of driving through an agricultural town (lots of dust) and noticed way less dust/bugs definitely a thumbs up
Similar to Adam's CS3 and New Jersey Devil possibly. It's funny they come out with something similar. Like did anyone notice how fabric coat sort of showed up on everyone's website or store all about the same price and durability. Just got me laughing. Hey Bryan will u try the NGC version 2 when u get a chance over here at SPS we haven't finished our reformulation but Artdeshine released theirs. Plus can't wait for your review on Fireball Butterfly and Dak Do. Also Angelwax's genesis and legacy coatings are pretty great in their own way. Anyway thank you as always for your time and knowledge. Cheers! Side note hey Hank with Hanks Auto Detailing we should start a clear coat hardness chart. I realize there are plenty of variables but still would be a wealth of knowledge. Thanks
Feel free to email me and let’s start it. I started a google doc that has some of the go to products Brian uses and some of the questions I see most often. My email is henry@gofreeman.com
Defy will last longer and is more versatile in that you can use as a cleaner. Bead maker has a little more gloss and they are but equally as slick but different. Bead maker feels like a shell of ice is on your car where as defy feels like oily slick. I like bead maker more. It’s cheaper and more user friendly. If you spray too much defy it’ gets streaky and it cures so fast you would have a very hard time in direct sunlight. Just my two cents.
I'm on their email list for new products and such. Got notified about this when it was released and I've been holding back on buying it until I saw a review. Thank you, Brian, for posting this information. I just bit the bullet and bought a few bottles to use on our vehicles. I have a few other Ethos products and I'm very happy with them. When Brian is excited about something, I pay attention to that because he's knows his stuff!
Its the best stuff on the market right now you will absolutely love it ethos defy is the best detail spray and waterless wash ever! Truly the best out there!
Looks great nad from what I understand it will soon be available in Europe. How would you rate it against TAC Systems Shinee Wax for the gloss? I love that stuff.
Yes. That's the perfect scenario. As long as you don't have heavy bugs caked on mud etc this will handle it. If you're not sure, test out in your door jamb. If it is Cleans that you're probably good to go. If it's iffy, do a regular wash then.
I usually love the content this channel puts out. However, if I had a nice vehicle like that and went through the trouble of taking to a detailer for a maintenance wash just to have the guy simply take a couple of microfibers and do a waterless wash like that, I'd be fucking pissed (if I had paid full price). That little "safe" waterless technique surely must have instilled quite a few swirl marks. Smh
Daily driver looks good. Might have to try some on the old noggen/head. Might be a improvement over the Fusco wax, you use sometimes. LoL. Jp in SD. Love your enthusiasm for this product. RAG SPINNIES. OH BOY.
I have been using this for 6 months now ..after an initial wash to my motorcycle .. I applied ....I have only washed my bike once put over 5000 miles on it ..I just give it a quick once over with this stuff and BOOOOOM ..it is clean ..I love it and have bought it as gifts for others
Brian, Ethos claims 3-4 average size vehicles "top to bottom" with an 8oz bottle of Defy, are you seeing this same result with your use of the product ?
Does Defy have Si02 in it? I just bought some to use as a quick booster but I'm not sure it has ceramic in it now. I could have sworn I read it did, that's why I bought it initially lol
Brian, could I use Ethos Defy on top of IGL F4 Renew? Seems to be better than IGL Premier as a topper but i would like to try Renew just wanted to make sure I could top it with Defy
I like the looks of this product. Black Cadillac looks fantastic. I'm going to buy this product. It's exactly what I'm looking for. Putting last coat of black turtle wax spay this week. I want this as a topper for gloss and slickness. Is it ok to put on top of my ceramic turtle wax Brian? Great video! Seems like it was made for me. Just what I was looking for. Thanks for sharing
Tried many, many waterless washes, but the Ethos is the best I've seen. After one try on my black truck, I was hooked. Brilliant shine! No where finishing the bottle I just received, I have already ordered a gallon.
Is this the correct product to use after the graphene coating by Ethos? The sacrificial layer like Carpro Reload or is it a finishing detail spray? I am going to do the Ethos Graphene after watching your video and wanted to know the proper sacrificial layer product to use. Thank you.
God dangit. Another must have product. I appreciate you testing on the Black Vehicles 👍👍. Most detail channels avoid Black because it exposed there insufficient skill and lack of knowledge.
