Several passengers spoke with cabin crew to find out why it was so hot and whether the air con was working. They responded saying air con is not effective due to the extreme temperatures. Only 30mins after takeoff the cabin temperature dropped.
00:36 you can imagine how heavily the AC was misting the air on TWA 800 whilst it sat under the sun. In the central tank the fuel vapour was misting the same way...
It was indeed one of the worst disasters in aviation history. The air conditioning packs directly below the fuel tank transferred sufficient heat that a single ignition source caused the fuel air vapours to ignite resulting in an explosion.
