Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look at this Gen-Y Hitch Shock Absorbing 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Pin Box. Now, this 5th wheel to gooseneck adapter box is going to let you tow your 5th wheel trailer with your gooseneck hitch, attaching to your truck's 2 5/16 inch gooseneck hitch ball. Now, this is designed to replace your Lippert Rhino 5th wheel pin box on your trailer, and this is going to mount right in place of that pin box. And these mounting holes that you see here are going to be the same, so you're gonna be able to reuse your original hardware to bolt this right into place. Now, installation is going to be relatively simple with this.
However, I do wanna let you know that this pin box is very heavy, so you're definitely going to want at least a second set of hands to help you lower your original pin box and then to put this one up in place. I needed two other guys to help me put this on the table, so you do wanna make sure that you have plenty of support when you are installing this. Now, this is made here in the USA of a heavy-duty steel construction. And this has a towing capacity of 25,000 pounds and a pin weight capacity range from 3,500 pounds to 5,500 pounds. And that pin weight capacity range is due to Gen-Y's shock-absorbing design, which is going to ensure a smooth and steady ride for you.
Their technology functions like a torsion axle to limit transfer of road shock from your trailer to your truck and vice versa, reducing chucking and the rough fore-and-aft motion. And it also limits bounce and the jarring up and down motion. So as this cutaway demonstrates, built into Gen-Y's pin box are tubes with inner bars that are surrounded by rubber cords. And as the coupler end moves, these inner bars twist inside of the tubes, attempting to follow the coupler's motion. But the rubber cords prevent the bars from twisting too far.
And as each bar turns, these cords compress to absorb the rough shock. So this means that any shock experienced by your truck can be absorbed before it reaches your trailer, and the shock experienced by your trailer won't get transferred to your truck. And another benefit of this type of system is that there are no air bags maintained and fewer moving parts to repair or replace than with other shock-absorbing solutions. This does feature Gen-Y's SnapLatch coupler, which is going to secure to your hitch ball with its self-latching design. And let me give you a brief demonstration of that, I do happen to have a 2 5/16 inch ball here.
And so, just to show you, I do have this open, ready to connect to this ball. So I'm gonna slide the ball into the coupler. And as you can see, that's going to quickly and easily latch securely in place. And then when you wanna disconnect, you're just going to turn this latch, and then that's going to allow you to easily disconnect from the ball. So again, real easy to connect and disconnect. Also included is this latch hook. Let me bring that into frame so you can see. And that's going to allow you to open the latch from the outside of the bed of your truck. I do wanna point out that this coupler will work with a recessed ball if the top of the ball is within one inch of the truck bed. Also, if you notice here, we do have these cross-shaped holes on both sides of this pin box that's going to give you attachment points for safety chains. And the safety chains are not included with this, but if you are looking for safety chains, on your screen, I am including Gen-Y's safety chain. And you see that item number there on your screen, you can just take that item number, put it in the search field of our website, and that will take you to that safety chain, and you can add that to your order. Now, this does feature a durable silver vein powder coat finish that's gonna do a great job of resisting corrosion, I think the finish is gonna hold up really well for you. And Gen-Y has a great reputation of building very high-quality, robust products, very durable, very long lasting products, and this is going to be no exception to that. So if this meets the specifications that you are looking for, this is going to be a great pin box for you to consider. Well, that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you. Again, my name is Andy. Thank you for joining me.

our Gen-Y 8066AL is killing us in our F350. it is SO bumpy if the roads are not smooth, which half are not smooth. I even put airbags on the truck and removed overload spring.

Not the case with all Gen-y hitches, they have messed me up twice and I had to pay restocking fee return shipping fee and a custom design fee for which I did not see anything that was custom and still did not work. FYI I think they just charged the custom fee so they could add no returns on custom hitches nothing was custom on hitch. I give them exactly what tongue weight was and first one flex down so much hit bed second one does not flex at all and is as ruff as ride as the factory I replaced with, my wife says this gen-y hitch rides even more ruff than the factory I took off so not everybody has had the same experience with gen-y hitch. I am sure they make some good hitches but not in my case.

Last we heard, Gen Y was 'working with Lippert' to gain their approval of the use of their products on Lippert frames. They don't have any update on this and to be honest they've been working with Lippert for a few years on this. Our best advice is that if your frame is still under warranty, you'd be best off using the Reese Goose Box. If you're out of warranty, feel free to use the Gen Y. www.etrailer.com/Gooseneck-and-Fifth-Wheel-Adapters/Gen-Y-Hitch/GY23GR.html
