Connor: Hey everyone Connor here today at etrailer.com. We're going to be taking a look at the Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver here for our 2020 Volvo XC 60.So this is what our trailer hitch is going to look like installed. As we can see here, it has a very nice factory-like finish here. The majority of our trailer hitch is actually going to be hidden behind this bumper here, so the only part that's going to be visible from outside the vehicle is the receiver tube opening here. This is going to do a couple of different things. Number one, as we mentioned, it's going to provide us with a very clean finished install look, and number two, the receiver tube opening is going to sit super close to this bumper here. So it's going to give us the best ground clearance. Our trailer hitch here has a class three rating, and what this is going to do is it's going to provide us with the larger two inch receiver tube opening.
Now, there are many things we can use with this two inch receiver tube opening.Number one, bike racks and cargo carriers. We're going to have the greatest selection of these because of the larger opening. And number two, we can also use our hitch for towing. It's going to be plenty capable for towing. It's going to give us a 6,000 pound gross trailer weight rating, which is going to be the maximum amount we can pull outward on our fully loaded trailer.
And it's also going to have a 900 pound tongue weight rating, which is going to be the vertical downward force on a receiver tube. Now, keep in mind for our bike racks and cargo carriers, the vertical tongue weight is going to apply to those as well, but we shouldn't come anywhere close to that with any accessories, such as bikes or cargo. So if you're not familiar with Draw-Tite trailer hitches, they do something sort of special here on the side of the receiver tube, and that's going to be this dual hitch pin hole setup. Now one of these is going to be the standard five eighths inch hitch pin. That'll accept our standard five eighths inch hitch pin and clip. Keep in mind, this is sold separately and this will be used for securing our bike racks, ball mounts, cargo carriers. Anything we need to insert in here can be shared with a standard hitch pin and clip. But Draw-Tite does something a step further, which is they developed this J pin stabilization device, and that's going to be what the second hole is for.
Basically the purpose of this is it's going to pin. The small pin here is going to insert into that smaller hole, and it's going to pin our ball mount, bike rack, or cargo carrier, inside of the receiver tube, so we're not going to get near as much ravel and play as we would with just a standard hitch pin and clip.Furthermore, the j-pin stabilization device has a locking mechanism on there, so we can get some sort of theft security as well. Then on the bottom here, we're going to see our safety chain tabs. And these are going to be nice and large out of the way. So we can use our smaller S-type hooks and our larger clevis type hooks no problem at all.Now we're going to have some measurements here for you that are going to help you when you're selecting your hitch mounted accessories. I also, for these vehicles, which sits sort of lower to the ground here, I like to give a ground clearance measurement.
The distance from the ground to the bottom of the receiver tube is going to be about 11 inches. Keep in mind the safety chain tabs hang down a little bit as well. Those are going to be about nine inches off the ground, but for the most part, we really shouldn't have any issues with that aside from maybe some really steep driveways. So you just need to keep that in mind when you're in those situations. In regards to ball mounts, the distance from the ground to the top inside edge of the receiver tube opening is 13 and a quarter inches. What this is going to do is it's going to help us when we're selecting our ball mount so we get the correct rise and drop according to what our trailer needs. Then last but not least, we have the distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the outward most edge of the bumper. This will be useful when we're selecting our bike racks and cargo carriers that fold up against the vehicle, so we can ensure that they do not make contact in the stowed position. This measurement here is going to be about three and a half inches. So it's not tucked very far back there at all. Enough that we don't hit our shins when we're walking by, but not so much so that it's going to create issues with any folding accessories. So in regards to insta

Great video. Everything came apart and went back together very easily. Took about 75 minutes. Bending and hammering fascia support was a little un-nerving but you don't see it when you're done.
