Hi, everyone. If you are familiar with a super popular Inno Tire Hold Bike Rack, well today we're going to be taking a look at its upgraded version. It's back and it has more features to it, making it more heavy duty and able to carry around more types of bikes. So we'll take a look at the Inno Tire Hold HD, or the Inno 122 right here at etrailer.com. So I've worked with a lot of bike racks, so I'm excited to delve deep into the different features of this rack and what makes it different from others. But a quick overview of what I've learned about this is that we have a lot of good pros, like it's fast to load and unload your bikes.
You can use this with a ramp. It has a very impressive weight capacity and can carry 80 pound bikes. Plus, it's pretty affordable compared to other bike racks with similar features. Now it also has its downsides too. So two of them are going to be that the construction of the rack has a bit more plastic compared to other bike racks of similar design, and it has a bit more movement of the rack itself.
So with all that being said, let's get into it. First, can this carry your bikes For the types of bikes that this can carry, it's very versatile. We do have a dual wheel mount system, meaning there is zero frame contact. So no matter what type of frame you have, whether it's a step through frame or a carbon fiber frame bike, you're totally fine. No need for adapters.
Now the maximum wheel base is gonna be up to 51 inches for those longer mountain bikes. The maximum tire size is gonna be up to 29 inches. And the maximum tire width though, that's gonna be up to 3.5 inches. So for those extra fat tire bikes, double check those to make sure they'll fit within the cradles. To adjust for those different bikes, Inno has their very easy to use adjustment system for the cradle.
So I just push down on the cradle, I popped it out of its groove, I pick a different groove which matches my tire size, fit it right back in and then pull up to secure. So zero tools required. The two cradles on each side hold your bike in and then you have that weight capacity of up to 80 pounds for a single bike. But when you have two bikes on there, the actual total weight capacity is only 150 pounds, so that's like 75 pounds each. So just be mindful of that. Have your heaviest bike closest to your car and your lighter bike further away from your car. The dual wheel mount cradles are secured with this ratcheting latch. So when you wanna take it off, you first press on those levers and that starts the initial loosening process. That way, as you hold down on the lever, you can push the entire arm out. So one and two. And from here you can take the bike off or put the bike on. But for those heavier bikes, there's an extra feature that Inno adds just to make it a little bit easier. So if you pull this latch here, you can pull this out and then remove this brace that allows the arm to go all the way down to the ground. So if you prefer just rolling your bike up and onto the rack, that is an option for you. When you load up two bikes, you might find issues with clearances with brakes and seats and handle bars and pedals. And that's okay, very normal for a multiple bike rack. So the option here is you can adjust the bike anywhere you want on your tray and secure it in the position you desire. And if, when you slide the bike around, you still can't find clearance, you do have the option of loosening the bolts underneath the tray and sliding the entire tray over to get more clearance. Well I do like how Inno upgraded from their previous design and now you can fully lower each cradle. The downside to this design is this gonna be an extra thing you're gonna have to do and more parts and pieces that you're gonna have to consider before you hit the road. All those features work together so that your bikes can clear on the bike rack, but will your bikes and your bike rack clear on your car Well, it depends. So let's start with some measurements. First being the tilt away feature. This, when you pull the handle, tilts down to 120 degrees, so that's from your hitch, down 120, and that way you can open up your hatch, open up your trunk, or lower your tailgates. That tilt isn't super impressive compared to some other racks, but usually is enough to clear most vehicles. Something unique to the Inno Tire Hold though is going to be this mast assembly, and I've noticed that while you can move your bike
