having played both, the main difference is that in ETS you have maybe a few hours leeway on your delivery schedule, whereas in ATS you get a day and a half... In ETS, dispatchers always want it delivered last week, in ATS sometime next month seems to be OK.

@@leecarrington1932 Yeah, TS should lean more into the time management side of trucking. It feels like you're on a casual sunday drive sighseeing and not on work. The Hard Truck series, although more of an open world racing game series than a straight up simulator, spiced things up with strict time limits and delivery competitions with other truckers.
@Winchester1979
@Winchester1979 Год назад
IIRC both ATS and ETS2 uses the same formula to calculate how long the delivery should take, which is an average of 60 kph/40 mph. Given that some states allow you to go almost twice that fast on the interstates, you'll never be in danger of being late unless you drive like a grandma in ATS, or on specific delivery routes (across the mountains between Nevada and Colorado for example). In ETS2, it's a bit easier to be late, since you can actually be forced to use roads where you can't go faster than the calculated average. (Germany has a speed limit of 60 kph if you're in a truck off the highways.
@daniellxnder

@@Winchester1979 Great technical explanation! Yeah I rarely has to go under 40 mph in ATS except when driving in cities so it makes sense now how I frequently end up with like 6+ hours of time left compared to ETS' ~1 hour especially if there's a detour!

I agree with you. Same with me, although I have a bit less "millage" than you do :D My total real life hours are around 1k total for both games. I really enjoy them both though. Depends on the mood maybe. I would say that parking is a bit more challenging in ATS though with the bigger trailers and longer wheelbases + tighter loading yards in some places. So I slightly prefer the bigger challenge that ATS gives me in that respect, plus I've always had a soft spot for long hood conventional trucks such as Pete 389 which is my favorite! No, you're not REQUIRED to stay in the right lane. It's just that most highways have 100-120 Km/h speed limits, and you're not allowed to go faster than 80 or 90, depending on the country. You are allowed to overtake in the left lane, it's just that you're not allowed to hinder traffic by being too slow either - which is why you /mostly/ stay to the right. If you've ever driven on the Autobahn or other places in Europe, you've experienced the annoyance of the semi that's overtaking another by going 2 Km/h faster than the one on the right lol.

I only have ETS2 but I’m trying to drive as good as I can. But sometimes when I get bored on the highway I will drive in and out of gas stations with high speed😂😂 it doesn’t always end well 😅

Playing both atm, i find ats has much more interesting parking challenges, more driving in beautiful city/town crnters, trucks are more stable...but ets trucks are so beautiful :p..... both games rock!!!

You can overtake as Truck a traffic Jam go back to the left lane, you just can't use the emergency lane in Europe example where it's common: Friday the border Frankfurt (oder) DE - Swiecko PL.

As someone who specialized in just in time delivery and fragile cargo in ETS2, going 90KM/h in a city is not the norm, is the bare minimum, the cargo must reach its destination fast no matter the cost

6:30 if that's too tight for one trailer, then how do I get two through perfectly every single time? it's more easy to me than ATS with one trailer sometimes tbh considering it's easier to know how much space you have to the front.

How did you get the traffic jam in ATS? Everytime I drive to a road event or detour traffic spawns behind me and there is never a traffic jam like real life
@JVerschueren
@JVerschueren Год назад
1:46 you need to come to a full stop before proceeding into the junction. You made a "rolling stop" both times, so you got randomly fined once, just like running a red light in ETS2. Now, in real life, cops will usually not fine you, certainly not when you drive an 18-wheeler and the junction was clear, but, technically, they could and you know the game is zero tolerance when it comes to fines. 6:08 don't go completely into the turn lane and take a wider swing... extra points if you can knock over the white on blue arrow in the centre with the trailer's headboard. (Yes, I'm such a child* 😁). I think in most cases the ETS player is the same person as the ATS player, so, unless we all have split personalities, I think it's futile to look for differences or stereotypes. (*): That said, in real life, I think I'd be sorely tempted to "tweak" inconveniently placed road furniture, just to make a point.
@draugnaustaunikunhymnphoo6978
For the first one, you don't get a fine or not stopping. The fine was about him not turning as tight or as soon as the game wanted.

I'm really scared of traffic events on ETS2, because it does never get resolved. I wouldn't mind waiting for 5-10min and watching about the situation going clear, but no matter how long you wait the situation stays same and NPC's doesn't do anything. SCS really should add some new animations on traffic events, so the situations would get resolved and you wouldn't have to load the Auto-Save everytime there is something happening on road. _- Idk if there is some mod for that, but I would download it right away if there is one._

Actually in ATS there's a simple rule when you can or cannot turn right when there's traffic light. It must be green light for the direction you're riding.

1:45 I get it's a parody, but I gotta call you out here. You rolled right through and barely slowed down, which would be a traffic offense IRL as well. But the clip where it didn't give you a violation, you had slowed down to a near stop, so the game didn't count it as an offense.

I'm doing all those things in both games. and i even do much crazier stuff, Like going over 100 km/h or even over 160 km/h and then making a sharp 90 degree drift turn with fully loaded truck. and then speeding up again to 100 km/h, dodging traffic on the shoulders, going from lane to lane also to dodge traffic, runing red lights. And when and AI run in to me or me in to him, i'm just keep going like if that was just a fly hitting my windshield.
