I sell stationary. My top seller is planner stickers. One day I was making bracelets with my daughter and got the idea to sell bracelets. I looked at what was selling and decided to add some. So I added the bracelets and had ones that said things like “I love stickers” and sticker addiction”, but I also give people the option to Customize them with something else in case you stumbled onto them and you’re not crazy about stationary. It also helps me fall into gifting since my customers only buy for themselves.

Scott.. what about me as a 22 year seller on 4 platforms and being 76 years old following a LONG term plan? 😅 Also I am now going to transition away from one of a king vintage items, liquidate all that inventory 800 pcs. and start making my own custom decor. How in the world do I end what I am doing for 22 years and make a whole new transition? Tough one huh?
Hello Scott, I'm a 20-year seller and I'd love to help you out but I need to know what you're trying to transition to. If you feel that your custom decor would appeal to your previous customer base in any way whatsoever you are going to want to ride on that previous success by using the old account. I would do anything you can to make items that would appeal to your previous customer base to leverage the Goodwill of that account as much as possible during the transition. It is okay to have a small amount of items that don't appeal to your customer in your store as long as it doesn't pass about 20 to 30%. That being said you are decreasing your reach significantly by having even that percentage in the store so make sure that during the transition time make sure that eery custom item you make appeals to people who like vintage things.

Awe this is so hard to reset my mind. I have been taught that you can just put any products in your shop because buyers are not looking for shops or brands. They are just searching for products and they look at your shop. I am niche down on website, email and social. But I thought it was ok to go crazy on Etsy, my business coach disagrees with you 😅

People who advocate for spaghetti on the wall do not understand branding or business and you should immediately ignore them. Building a business is like building train tracks for what is hopefully going to be a bullet train. Non-business minded people who just wanna make a buck are driving around chasing sales, and are just gonna run out of petrol lol.

Hi guys, thanks for this episode. Here is the question, how do you guys send the email opt in link to your customers? Via etsy messages? I think Etsy messages would be a bit risky for the shops, also the customer will see the notification that leaving etsy system to follow the link could be risky. Another option is the QR code, but people are not paying attention to this. Buyers are not even reading the product description carefully, they are not ready to scan the QR code, only a 1-3% could be ready to scan the code, that is totally wasting of time. What other option would you prefer?
