Etsy has announced new seller changes for 2024 including a $15 setup fee for new Etsy shops. I walk through the announcements and also compare Etsy's fees to a few other sales platforms.

Yes that is so bad. And you get no help when they suspend your shop. So you dont know why they did that.

As a past Etsy customer I went this morning to buy something on Etsy but the captcha log on is so unbearable I quit. I came here to post about this. A few minutes ago I checked two sets of bus panels, then two sets of bridges. Am I in? Nope. Two sets of bicycle panels, then two sets of steps. Am I in now? No, two sets of traffic signal panels, then two sets of motorcycles. Then when the fire hydrants popped up I said "I'm done here" Off to another site to find what I need

I think it is best to start your own shop with printify pop up shop. Way more money and no fees.

Really, I thought that Etsy has invested in a lot of 'foot' trafic, can you do that with printify pop up shop? At first i thought you said Shopify. Which one is better?

@@unityofconsciousness475 Shopify is best if you can afford it but printify allows you to have your website own shop for free. You don’t have have fees and everything is done on their end. The problem with Etsy which is problem for new sellers who don’t really have money to spare. It looks like Etsy is going t start charging a fee to set your store up. They also are in the business of holding money. eBay does this same thing, but at least eBay gives you the option to speed things up with a tracking. The fees are really up there. Etsy really isn’t a good option if you don’t have free cash.

@@unityofconsciousness475 I'm sorry I meant to get back to you sooner. So Etsy now has this fee. I think they're going to be rolling out and then there is all the fees on top and then there are getting like eBay where they'll be holding your money for a certain length time. It boils down down to you need capital if you're going to be on Etsy. Having your own store on Shopify or having a pop-up store is a better option. You save money on fees. You don't have to pay a starter cost well on printify Popup store. You don't have to pay a startup cost. But you do have to get traffic to your site so you can start making finances. So if you are broke and you just don't have any capital then printify pop-up store is the best route.

Both Printify pop up shop & Shopify needs you to generate traffic. This can be done by social media, adverts, affiliate marketing, & UGC. But even with Etsy you may need ads & they like it when you drive traffic to your Etsy shop.

I wonder if that's why I'm on a payment reserve again. My shop is about 6 months old and I have no negative history. I was on a reserve when I first opened it

made an account. added 2 listings with no trademark and so on. suspended account. asked why suspended. perma suspended. Dreams come and go fast damn.

They suspended my account to: 3 days account, no explanation before or after the appeal. They do not want to get contacted again. I do not know what I did wrong without being let known.

@@gregbt Yes I am, I do not know, I was told nothing. I thought I could use a method of determination in order to get the suspension lifted by contacting them almost daily. I contacted them if FB as well. I was answered from FB/Messenger that they have passed my case on. But, no other contact or anything else. Good Luck to you.

Hi. I watched your Gelato and Printify videos on how to do combo listings. If I have a Printify listing already up, can I add a variation to it? I've tried doing this but the price doesn't update, and the price of the old listing becomes the price of the variation. The pictures also don't end up syncing.

Why do everybody say that it cost 20 cent to list? You have to pay tax to. So its more around 26 cent. And you can get suspended without geting to know why. The support is super bad. They have no control in the setup if you forget to add things you need to. Then they just suspend your shop when you get a sale as something is missing. So i dont have mush good to say about Etsy.

Thanks so much for this, will Etsy still charge people for their listing or will we pay until Etsy proves and has a track record to ban people with: firstly notifying them and then later to show a track record for banning people with their knowledge and notification.

Etsy still charges $0.20 per listing (in the US, not sure if that's the same everywhere), but I believe they subtract the listing fee from your seller funds even if your payouts are in a hold. So if you are making sales, the funds in your seller account could still be used to pay the new listing fee. If you open a new shop and create a lot of listings without any sales, then you would at some point be charged by Etsy for the listing fees.

I just created my ETSY store yesterday. Had to associate it with Payoneer for payments. It's been a day and it's still there waiting for me to add some personal bits and items to sell. Will work on it slowly. Question (at the end): Part of my plan is the T-shirt, smartphone case, coffee mug route. I figure making initial Printify templates will be time consuming since there are loads of iPhones and Galaxy smartphones, T-shirt sizes, and a few mug choices for each. How do you recommend going about making Printify templates to save? I've watched one video where you discussed inputting SKU for each t-shirt. Wondering

Hi! It depends on how you want to set up your Etsy listings. If you plan to sell one design per listing, adding the variants is easy and handled on Printify before publishing to Etsy. For phone cases, you can add all the phone models on Printify when you are creating the listing and they will come over to Etsy. If you want to offer more than one product or design within a single listing, that's where you would have to use the method covered in that video where you manually create the Etsy listing variations and then copy over the SKUs from Printify so your orders can automate. This is only necessary for those situations where you want to offer multiple things in one Etsy listing because you can't combine them on the Printify side. But if you're planning on creating your listings for each product & design separately, everything can be done on Printify before publishing including adding the options for various phone models, and for apparel all the size & color options.

I think it's a great idea and about time. It will help keep the scammers off. If you're serious then it shouldn't be a problem. It will also help with stopping the crappy uploads.

As a current Etsy seller (who happens to be on a 30% payment reserve since I've found recent success and my sales spiked), I am happy with all of these changes. Sure, the payment reserve may seem unfair for honest, hardworking people looking to get into the POD business, but these changes will cut out so many scammy shops and people who are trying to "get rich quick" with their subpar designs that clutter the platform. The changes seem great from where I stand... just as long as Etsy is very transparent about all of this in their communications to sellers.

@@gregbt They do not give any details, they suspended me without warning, said to check my email - no email, when I applied to get it lifted - they were not happy with my answers (I did not know the reasons in the first place), then they told me that they could not reveal the internal investigations: in what world do we live in? Did not say anything about the timeline as well?!
