You cannot fail to notice how muxch like La Sylphide this Ballet is, the music has the same melody in parts, and the choreography reflects the syle and content of the Pas de trois in Act 1 with Effie, James and The Sylph.
Harald Lander's fantasia on the steps of the ballet classroom, is a superb choreographic work which has too few performances in the wider world. I was a bit confused by this video as the opening scene set at the barre was missing for some reason. All the dancers performed with grace and charm, but the corps work was a little ragged and mis-timed in places. The last time I saw this ballet it was performed by Peter Schaufuss and Eva Evdokimova with London Festival Ballet, so it was a great delight to revisit it.
Looking at it again, the costumes do seem like La Sylphide, the headress, romantic long ballet skirt and little armlets. Though of course there are no black or white titu's in La Syphide. Looking at the Ballerina, her feet do let her down, it looks as if she has removed the inner sole or metal support, which makes them look wrong. They should be broken in properly to avoid excess noise on the stage, but not wrecked. The way the heel sits gives the game away. Imaking the foot look weak.
