In this video titled EU4 A to Z - Forming The Romanian Empire as Aragon I do a playthrough as Aragon in Europa Universalis 4 1.31 Leviathan. This is the thirteenth video in my series titled A to Z where I attempt to play every* nation in EU4 in alphabetical order. Of course I had to remove some nations so the challenge doesn't get too boring. In this video I play as the nation of Aragon and I attempt to form The Roman Empire or The Romanian Empire as well as do a secret second challenge. So let's see if I managed to do it! Arakan in some period of the history was an heaven of pirates... And it was always under Bengal influence (vassal or tributary). Why not let the pirates of Arakam turn the table and conquer or vassalize Bengal? But this could be easy... So you could add something else

The one disappointment here is that you killed Ottomans before forming Romania, so you couldn't get the mission that lets you impale the Sultan on a wooden stake

ngl, espionage ideas are very good for short archievement campaigns, the age bonus of claims can border claims and -10% AE combine really well with it. You get -30% AE and you can snake claims much easier to whoever you need to attack when they cost 5 less to make and you got an extra diplomat.

I know it's really far away but this is something I only just discovered and was reminded of with the second secret mission here - when you get around to Montferrat you should restore Byzantium with them (without culture shifting, but instead using their own special decision)

Actually Not a terrible Strategy to go for Aragon Missions then Byz Missions - though Not so sure about Romania, though tbf you could keep their ideas If I remember rightly they are decently strong.

Man feels bad for hungary and poland in ai hands, they really suck. Even aragon, one of the most strongest nation at the start of the game sucks very much in ai hands (ofc i'm talking about the case where aragon doesn't get pu'd by castile)

The Polish AI would probably do better if it preferred picking idea groups that improve its cavalry or helped it play the diplomacy game. I'm honestly not sure how to help the Hungarian AI.

The war declaration breaks the alliances and you get to call in the allies you wanted in the war anyways.

It is better to return cores because that actually gives the Byz insanely increased relations which is very important due to them being pissed that you forcefully vassalized them.

I can really appreciate you taking a different spin on Aragon! But as someone who is not that good at EU4 I really appreciate learning what ideas / perks / combos / strategies you use in these A-Z challenges to become a better player. The crazy goals are great but maybe pick sensible idea groups? Just my feedback thanks for the amazing content!

I think Poland does decently well whenever they get the union with Lithuania and 9/10 will form the Commonwealth, but an updated mission tree would be nice. Hungary on the other hand gets PUd by the Austrians or gets eaten up by either the Ottoblobs or the Poles, so I think they defo need a buff

I'm looking forward to Aztecs. There's a lot of wacky stuff you can do. I don't know how much of the religious reform stuff works in 1.31, but I did a run in 1.29 where I changed my religion to Pagan (which allows you to adopt Feudalism, and spread that to a neighbor), then to Mayan (and reform off of a neighbor you spread Feudalism to), then eventually tag switched to Manchu. You can either switch to horde government ASAP and eventually form the Mayan Manchu Aztec Mongol Horde Empire, or you could go for forming The Roman Empire as the Mayan Manchu Aztecs, and *then* become the Mayan Roman Aztec Horde Empire! Just beware country formations such as Manchu that move your capital out of colonial territory, and that the only way to make yourself Mayan is to force a Mayan country to convert you to Mayan, meaning you have to be worth less than 100% total warscore to offer that strange capitulation.

You can get claims on Greece from mission tree but they are pretty. But at the start of game you dont have them

As for arakan run, own the holy city of Mecca, Medina and Jerusalem Arakan is a Buddhist kingdom however historically their rulers used Muslim titles and names due to influence from Bengal, your goal now is to achieve this weird syncretism by conquering the holy cities of Islam
