Yeah, they release from the westernmost province in Jharkand. Looks like a really difficult start: Jharkand is too small to get rivaled by any of the big nations, so you can't get any of them to support your independence. Since Jharkand is sandwiched between Jaunpur and Bengal, they can often get a big ally of their own, though, because another large nation which is rivaled to either Bengal or Jaunpur allies Jharkand due to it being Threatened status. If that doesn't happen it should be a very easy independence war... but then you're still stuck as just a 3-province minor neighbouring both Bengal and Jaunpur, and them plus all the other large northern nations hate you because you're Hindu. You can ally fellow Hindu Vijayanagar for defense, but they're too far away to help you in offensive wars. It deceptively looks like there are a bunch of small nations around you that you can rapidly gobble up to grow big, but a lot of them are already vassals of Orissa, Malwa, and Jaunpur. The few that are independent will probably get eaten up by Orissa and Bahmanis while you're still waiting for the 5-year truce with Jharkand to expire. One unusual strategy that might actually be viable here is to diplomatically become Jaunpur's vassal after you get free from Jharkand - they'll rival Bengal and Bengal will want your land so you can set Threatened status towards Bengal and Jaunpur should agree to it, I think? Then as Jaunpur's vassal you can get Janupur's big rivals like Bahmanis and Delhi to support your independence war and either take a lot of land from Jaunpur or keep them as large allies (or a bit of both), even though those countries would never have agreed to ally you normally.
Hawk, dont ignore the Dhimmi like that! Getting them loyal and influential is a huge benefit, specially if you are going for Mysticism The extra generals is reaoly nice too!
I remember back before they nerfed it I would stack lightship combat ability and run full lightship navy to force myself to think about using trade ships properly
Defensive provides a pseudo attrition buff with the leader maneuver. Not that it's as good as the flat buff from quantity, but hey. You still got your attrition reduction.
Quick (maybe dumb) question, wasn't there a perception from the game regarding your ruler to give him traits? Like, for example, you got a high mil ruler and keeps beating rebels, he tends to be cruel? If you got new tech and your ruler is high diplo you tend to get scholar and so on?
You are back in India... Pretty mid ideas, the Infantry bonuses are past halfway, so unlikely to come into effect... I guess ally Vig & Bengal, fight Orissa then Jaunpur & Bahmanis.
It is a tough nation. Seven and a half years ago, I got The Third Way achievement as Pate. I recall doing a lot of restarts to get the ball going, and it still is one of the most difficult achievements I have gotten.
