Nice tips. I actually never even knew the sortie option was there until I started watching your vids a few weeks ago, and I'm not a new player either.. Btw, unless I'm wrong, I think reinforcement cost is based on unit cost, and usually cavalry costs more than infantry so if you have units you can move out of a fort you're sieging to save on manpower and ducats it's probably better to prioritize moving out cavalry, but you left 1 stack.
Calvary also raid at approx 3 times the rate, so it balances out while there is still loot. I will often carpet siege and then carpet loot if the provinces are rich enough.
3:38 Normally, If AI sieges the capital, I shoot them at the end of the month with sortie from the siege, because calvary with sortie units gives better combat width. Also, it prevents AI from getting morale bonus.
This is an ingenious trick in itself. Kind of reminded me of preventing a retreating army from crossing a strait by bring boats out at the very last minute
I think I used the sortie trick on an AI once when playing a custom nation. I had won a siege race, and to save my capital from being saved I sortie'd at the last second, just in time for my troops to reinforce and win the battle. The war was a great victory thanks to it
Really good tips here. I use sortie more often than I should, but not to stop a month tick. I'm obviously a dumbie for not making that that connection and stopping the tick!
