Awesome! Without a HomeBase 3 and hard drive, you'll likely get around 7 to 8 days of continuous recording if you set it to dual view. If you want more than a week of video playback history, then you'll have to connect it to the HomeBase 3 and insert your 4 tb drive. It has to be a 2.5" drive btw.

Great review. Is there ability to set default light brightness for night time and separate brightness for motion? That way if there's motion it can use full brightness but at other times it doesn't need to be so bright.

Hey there, I haven't tried with a corner bracket, but someone else has with a previous eufy Floodlight Cam model here: www.reddit.com/r/EufyCam/comments/qxlq20/eufy_security_floodlight_cam_2_pro/ Looks like you'd just have to order a corner mount and see if it lines up before you mount it to know for sure. Do you get notifications for cars and pedestrians walking outside of the boundary of your property? I would like the camera to follow and record them but not notify me.. is there a way to do that?

I'm not sure how to do this. You have the option to define an activity zone, but then you'll receive notifications within that zone and it will only track in that zone. You might have to contact eufy about this question to see if they have some kind of creative work-around for it.

Hey @thelawlesshiker, here's what eufy support said: "Yes, the eufy Floodlight Cam E340 does support RTSP/NAS. However, when connected to Homebase 3, the RTSP/NAS function may not work. It's important to ensure that the NAS supports the RTSP protocol and that the camera and NAS are connected to the same Wi-Fi router. Additionally, setting up the camera with a static IP address on the router is crucial for successful RTSP/NAS support. If you encounter issues, ensure that the correct parameters are entered and consider retrying the setup. After completing the setup, if you don't see video clips, it's important to note that motion detection may be disabled during the connection testing, and it may take a few minutes for the system to upload clips to your NAS. If you experience frequent "Connection recovered" and "Connection lost" messages, these are normal occurrences and can be ignored." I also heard from others that RTSP support is limited to 1080P from what I've seen on Reddit, but haven't tried personally to confirm it.

Hey Adrian, Just watched your video on the Eufy Floodlight Cam E340 - 3K & 2K Lens, AI Tracking, and 24/7 Recording. First off, I'm loving this camera! I'm in the UK, and security is a big deal here, so this is a game-changer for me. Quick thing though - my car's been taking a bit of a beating in our driveway, and I think this camera could be the solution. I saw your installation video, but I'm not quite there yet, especially when it comes to the junction box in the wall. I just got a 1960s semi-detached house in a bit of a rough area - first home for me, my wife, and two kids. Electrical wiring isn't exactly my forte, so a more detailed video on the installation side of things would be a lifesaver. If you could dive a bit deeper into the process, especially around the junction box, it would help me and others like me a ton. Excited to boost my property's security with your product! Hey @Habib_Ur_Rehman_ thanks for watching! In truth, I'm not that great with electrical wiring either, I had to get help because the wiring in my home is also a bit dated and the wiring was not even color coded due to how old they were. I highly recommend getting an electrician, especially if your home is older so they can confirm if the existing wiring can handle the power draw requirements and that everything is properly grounded. I know electricians are quite expensive to hire, but it'll be worth it because it's easy to mess up wiring. You can offset the cost a bit by checking this other floodlight camera I also reviewed, which I actually like a little better because it's more aggressive with car monitoring and issuing a very LOUD alarm or audible voice command to leave the area. You can check it out here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-xEPOdKZ8F5s.html (It's around half the price of this camera, but it lacks dual lens.) It still has 24/7 recording, no fees, and a 3K camera though. Good luck : )

Does this get stuck when a tree is waving? My wyze 360 cam just records my 24 foot tall palm tree bc the branches always wave with the slightest wind, and gets stuck there? Can this cameras differentiate this? My wyze cam isn’t even installed as high as my 24 foot palm tree but some how it Alway zooms upwards at every slight wind blow and gets stuck there. Will this camera also get stuck on waving trees that’s 24 foot in the air? Please help

Hey there, I don't have a tree in my live view for it to get stuck on, but it's fairly intelligent if you tell it you only want to track human and vehicle motion. You can also draw out detection zones/activity zone to prevent that from happening.

The detection range on the E340 is around 40 ft and on the previous S330, around 30 ft. I recommend just getting the E340 though because it has 24/7 recording. Once you have 24/7 recording, you'll capture everything regardless of if motion was detected or not. I watched a different video today about a flaw that will delete your photos when you reset or sink your camera. Have you heard about this?

Ok got an answer from eufy. This issue was present before, but it is now resolved. However if someone breaks into your home and finds your HomeBase 3 and figures out what that device is used for then resets it, you will lose the recorded files. "No, holding down the reset or sync button on the camera will not cause all the recorded files to be deleted from the microSD card and the HomeBase 3. The reset or sync button is used for different purposes, such as resetting the camera or pairing it with the HomeBase. If you want to delete the recorded files from the microSD card, you can do so through the eufySecurity app or by connecting the microSD card to a computer and manually deleting the files. Similarly, if you want to delete the recorded files from the HomeBase 3, you can do so through the eufySecurity app or by connecting the HomeBase to a computer and accessing the storage. It's important to note that if you reset the HomeBase 3, it will restore the device to its factory settings and remove all the settings and recorded files stored in the HomeBase. So, if you have important recorded files, make sure to save them before performing a reset."

We have had this camera for a week. It worked good for a day and a half now no matter what it's pointing backwards at the house detecting nothing but the gutter soffit ???

I'd go back into the eufy App and into the Motion Detection settings to ensure it's still turned on. Then go into Activity zone to make sure none are set and ensure that AI tracking is enabled in motion detection as well. If all of that is set then I think you have to contact eufy support.

Great video, received my cameras today, ive found a few things i dont like but overall its a good camera. The tracking and out of view detection works amazingly. However i found if you change the view mode to single view i had assumed it would still record from both lenses and you could swap between them when reviewing footage but this is not the case, it disables the zoom lense, pretty annoying. I wanted to record from both lenses but be able to pick which lense im viewing on full screen, really annoying reviewing footage on one third of my screen due to extra view and controls taking up half the screen

Hey Mark, yea correct, it only records to the default 1X lens in single view. I guess it isn't powerful enough to record from both lenses at max resolution. Yea for reviewing, I have to download noteworthy clips. I wish they had Windows software so I could access clips on a monitor like some other brands offer.

I meant I have to manually download relevant (noteworthy clips) from the eufy app. There isn't an app called that 😉 I don't think you'll find any third party app for Eufy because there's an encryption and decryption key that is used to decrypt the videos before play and 3rd party apps won't have that key.@@martiangod

Ive found another issue today, in the notification settings, if you unselect animals, cars or all movement to only detect humans, every time you close the app it reactivates all types of notifications so it cant be put on human only. Hopefully they'll sort these bugs out but im not sure how to report them

Just checked on mine to confirm and you're right, it doesn't keep the change when I exit and go back into it, so yea, hopefully another update fixes that. In the app, you can go to "Share Your Thoughts" in the settings of the camera, and you can describe the issue there. I just submitted my issue. @@martiangod

Any issues or risks with water damage during a severe storm? There's a few holes in the front of the camera that would appear to a risk of water damage. My electrician indicate that he had to replace quite a few similar types of floodlights that had these holes during the resent storms in California in 2022 and this year. Said no such issues with the Ring floodlights that didn't have these holes. I purchased 2 of these and was about to install, but now i'm on the fence about whether I should keep them or switch to the ring cameras.

Hey @allenlau293, since I've installed the new E340 Floodlight Cam, it's survived at least three major Canadian Winter storms and at least two rain storms and it's been working without any issue. However, where I mounted my camera, there is a bit of an overhang from my gutters above the camera, which is shielding it a little from very direct downpours of rain, so it isn't super exposed to the elements. However, if you're worried, you can buy an outdoor camera shield/cover to install above the camera to act as a small umbrella.

Is it me, or is the tracking movement a bit 'manic' on this model compared to the S340? (the Rotate Speed was set to high for both cams in Adrian's two review vids). I guess this model has a more powerful motor due to it being mains-powered, but my concern would be that juddery movement could compromise footage by introducing motion blur between frames if the subject is continually moving. I suppose what I'm suggesting is that the S340 footage looks smoother, but can that be matched by lowering the pan and tilt speed of the E340, or is the latter always an overly-eager beaver?

Yes, it can be manic if the detection sensitivity is set too high and if the Pan & Tilt speed is set to the maximum setting. It can definitely be smooth and more fluid than I showed in my video. I just always prioritize faster tracking since it's mostly cars making up most of the traffic in my area. However, if you want to prioritize human movement, it can pan and tilt slowly and smoothly too.

I have a question. I just bought an installed the Eufy e340. Finding it difficult to adjust the sensitivity of the floodlight range. It's coming on every time a vehicle passes by either direction on my street, the neighbors probably think I'm paranoid LOL. Is there a way to decrease the sensitivity? Any advice would be much appreciated. BTW awesome tutorial!!! Thank you.

You could also disable vehicle detection to see if that helps first before you adjust the sensitivity down. You can also try to disable the out of view detection option to see if it helps. I personally just leave my floodlight on all night from sunset to sunrise to act as a deterrent for anyone who wants to try and break into my car.

I have the Floodlight Cam 2 Pro in a true 360 degree situation and the camera has a stopping point in the back. In other words, it can rotate 180 degrees to the left and 180 degrees to the right, but it cannot continue all the way around from point A to point A. Was this changed for this camera? The way mine works, if someone approaches from the right rear and continues to the left, it hits the stopping point and can no longer track them. I hope this was fixed.

Hey @Rasdock, it still has a hard stop when it rotates towards the back because I suspect the way the motor is wired, doesn't allow the cable to twist, so the new model will behave in the same way. The new model is pretty good at tracking, but if someone exists the frame/scene and the camera has to pan to the back, it usually pans back after around 10 seconds I think to the preset patrol point set in the app.

It has the previous model beat in pretty much every area except brightness, your current model has 3000 lumens and the color temp is adjustable. This model has 2000 lumens and has a fixed color temperature.

Appreciate the in depth review. I currently have 2 x 2 Pro EufyCams working off a HomeBase 2. Do you think Eufy will add HB2 support for the E340? If not, it means I either need to use the MiniSD card (not my preference) or I need to buy a HB3 just for the E340. Hope Eufy increase support of either the HB2 or HB3 for their old & new cameras so consumers only need to use one HomeBase storage device...

Hey @TheEthNick, they didn't mention anything about adding HB2 support to me, but eufy chat support will probably have a definite answer about that. When they made the HB2, I'm not sure if it was designed to handle the 24/7 recording on some of the new dual cam lineup. I remember when I reviewed their previous doorbell model, it came with a HB2, but I was actually able to add it to the HB3 and leave the HB2 disconnected completely so I only had to use one HB3.

Question about 24/7 recording. How does it prevent from taking over the HDD? Is there a way to set retention, or keep all footage for 7 days and then motion only thereafter to prevent from taking over?

Hey @DadReviewsTech, there are no retention settings to choose. Once the system needs space, it will overwrite older clips. If you want more than 7 days of video playback history, you can buy the HomeBase 3 and insert up to a 16 TB 2.5" SSD, then pair the E340 Floolight Cam with the HomeBase 3 and it will record to the HB3 storage. I currently have a 1 TB drive in my HB3, but it accepts up to a 16 TB drive.

@@DemCrumbliesI'm interested in capping it at 7 days to encourage sharing HDD space with the s330s. I have the HB3 and a 1tb SSD. But at a certain point, won't the 24/7 footage of the S340 take over the storage of the hard drive? I'm just curious how they live together and share space

I don't believe there's any way to cap it with or without the HomeBase 3. I think all the space is shared and is overwritten as needed without any adherence to prioritizing specific camera footage. If you have a 1TB drive like me on the HB3, the oldest videos files from any camera should be overwritten. Since the S330s record event based video only, they should also overwrite old video files, but should leave the newly recorded S340 clips alone since the recorded or creation date of the file is new. That would make sense from a logical point for how the system behaves, but the only way to truly know would be to contact eufy's chat support. They are pretty good at answering questions the same day or within 24 to 48 hours from my experience. @@DadReviewsTech

From what I remember, the drive is optional. I think the setting was under the Video section, but they have updated the App since I used it, so now I'm not sure where they put the setting because mine is set to use the drive. As long as you insert a microSD card into the Floodlight E340 and format the microSD card in the eufy app, you should see the option in the app under Video or under General maybe. Hey Don, eufy had shipped me a 1 TB Toshiba drive, but any 2.5" HDD will work. Here's one that will work geni.us/sg2tb (Affiliate Link). I have a 1 TB, but since I've added more eufy cameras to the HomeBase 3, I've used around 90% of storage, so I would recommend getting at least a 2 TB drive. @@DimplesDon9 Hey Don, you're right, glad you caught my mistake. I'll remove the second link since it's a 3.5" drive. It's a bit more challenging to find 2.5" HDDs that are at higher capacities, but as long as the RPM is 5400 or higher, any brand should be fine.

Good point, there is no ethernet port, but it connects by 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi this generation.

Hey Eric, I don't have any connectivity issues with it. Mine is placed around 4 meters away from my modem. One thing to note is that you can use this camera as a standalone device where it will connect directly to your TPLink Deco 6E. However, you also have the option to buy the optional HomeBase 3, and to position the HomeBase 3 close to the camera so that the HomeBase 3 will supply WiFi to the camera. The HomeBase 3 can be connected by WiFi or ethernet cable, but I recommend only connecting it by ethernet cable. 2.4 Ghz also has a further range than 5.0 Ghz, so for cameras that have connectivity issues, I'd switch them to a 2.4 Ghz connection. I have asked the Eufy support and spoken to a few different agents and asked in a number of different ways. Their response is always same; “the E340 does not record to the Homebase S380 in full resolution and is limited to 1080p. This is true for continuous and event motion events”. I asked them why the Security app lets you choose 3k recording and they says 3k is just for live viewing. They say this is to optimise storage in the Homebase to ensure efficient recording of events. This doesn’t make sense because I have upgraded storage of 16TB. They should at least make event recording at high resolution as this is when you need the highest detail

So in the Video Settings, there are two separate areas for Recording Quality and Streaming Quality where you can independently set the resolution. If you watch my video and jump to the settings section you'll see that area in the app. Maybe screenshot that and ask them to explain then. I went to my events section in the app, downloaded the video file straight from the eufy app and the resolution shows 2304 x 2592 in HEVC format - 100% confirmed. No 1080P.

I have it set to 24/7 recording and set to 3K and it records at 2304 x 2592 resolution at 15 FPS with dual view/dual lens recording. However, I do have it connected to the HomeBase 3 so I'm not sure if that is a factor but I seem to remember that it records 24/7 in more than 1080P even more I added it to the HB3 iirc. Maybe try to chat with a different agent just to double confirm, and also ask if HB3 connection could factor into that, but I don't see why it should.

Hmm hard to say because I have many cameras installed and running all the time for review purposes. If you contact eufy chat support, they are pretty good at getting that information though to tell you the daily average power draw.

@@ru42112 Hmm that is a bit strange because I know the HomeBase 3 outputs it's own unbroadcasted WiFi for the cameras to connect to when paired with the HB3, but I always thought that you need to have WiFi access to access the eufy app. You're saying that you can turn off both WiFi and Mobile Data and still open the eufy app and access recordings and see app alert notifications?

Thanks for the detailed information. I just installed the E340 and the S340. But noticed when I do the pan and tilt calibration the S340 calibrates by moving the camera both directions all the way left even showing the wall where it’s mounted and all the way to the right showing the wall to the right of it but when I calibrate the E340 the calibration moves all the way to the left also showing the wall it’s mounted on but doesn’t go far to the right showing the wall like the S340 instead it stops at facing straight .Have you noticed if yours calibrates the same way? I couldn’t get through the Eufy support by phone and the chat agent wasn’t helpful.

Do you have the solar one S340? If you do try the calibration and you’ll see it travels both directions.

@@guitarhero9592 Yep the S340 moves in both directions, so I'm thinking the motor track on the E340 must be different so that it only has to go left, then center. If you walk near your vehicle, does the lighting come on? It may have to do with the lighting setting, is Motion-Activated Illumination set to on and set to Fast for Light Activation Mode? Night Vision should also be set to Color Night Vision. I just leave my lights on using the Sunset to Sunrise feature so it stays on all night since I want to use the light as a deterrent for my vehicle.

@@DemCrumblies Yeah I thought they were both the same camera except one is Solar. Actually the light setting is on Smart. I’ll switch it to Fast and see how it goes tonight. Have you noticed if your E340 detects less at night? I had to put it to the highest detection when I noticed cars passing and didn’t detect like it did in daytime. How about that Multi-Bridge setting. Have you tried it? Does that help at all? I have my camera connected to Homebase but does it strictly have to be WiFi to use and not connected with Homebase? I really haven’t found anyone talking about it.

@@guitarhero9592 I set my E340 to 24/7 continuous recording, so it's almost impossible for me to miss anything unless the camera is already recording motion in one area when a new subject enters the frame, so I haven't actually really checked the NV detection since it records all the time. I have mine connected to the HB3 only because I wanted the extra storage capacity from the HB3 for the 24/7 continuous recording. If you connect the camera to the HB3, I believe the HB3 outputs it own wireless signal for eufy cameras.

Yep, absolutely. The HomeBase 3 only adds additional storage and and the ability for Human Facial Detection. By default, without the Homebase 3, you still get Human Detection. If you plan on recording using the 24/7 mode, I would insert a 128 GB microSD card so you have a longer video playback history. @@Rebmaster26

What happens if you lower the speaker volume a bit? Seems most of these cameras, regardless of the brand don't have any advanced noise suppression when it comes to live.

Camera ain't that bad, but it gives me way too many false positives, I also have a s300 camera in the same location and this only sends me a notification if a person is detected, with the floodlight cam I get many notifications of persons, but when I watch the footage, there is literally nothing there, hope this gets solved in a future firmware update

I think I had to drop my sensitivity down with it too because it's very sensitive. Btw, if you set up an activity zone and the detection type, it should help to reduce false positives.

I guess for fixed lens without pan and tilt, a cover would be beneficial because people don't know where the blind spot is, but since this is so sensitive with tracking, I like them seeing that it follows every movement.

Good point, but thankfully my neighbors are ok with it because my area has lots of car thefts, so the coverage benefits both of us having it mounted for driveway surveillance. Now if it was setup in a backyard, that'd be another story. If you like the covering, the previous model of this floodlight has that, but it doesn't offer 24/7 recording or large storage capacity unless you connect it to the HomeBase 3.

If someone wanted to rob me and jump me since they know ALL the products I have in my home from my reviews, knowing my license plate around town would be an easy way to get robbed. The neighbor's license plate in public view with no association to what they do for work or the contents of their home is way less of an issue. Now someone could scope their car out and follow them back to me if they really wanted to...
