Thank you for this wonderful eulogy. I am not Jewish, but was a great admirer of Rabbi Sacks, because he was such a warm, inspirational teacher, a beacon of light for all mankind. We have much to be grateful for.

What an excellent additional eulogy that I had not heard before. I was doubtful at first, but Rabbi Dunner won me over with his sincerity and his stories. He knew Rabbi Sacks and presented a human being, a mensch. I see Rav Dunner must be a highly effective rabbi for his kehilah.

This is who we are. One. This unique Rabbi was a legend in his own time taken from us far too soon. A tragic loss.

most of you reading this already know this, but for the few who may not, the closing melody played on this video is Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach's song, "Am Yisrael Chai" alluded to in the above eulogy by Rabbi Dunner who, btw, is quite a fantastic writer, speaker, and of course Rabbi in his own right. how i wish I would have known about these two Rabbis when the dedication to Rabbi Dunner's shul in Beverly Hills took place twelve years ago. it would have been one of the highlights of my life to have been there

One of the most uplifting tributes I've heard and delivered with the kind of spirited oratory that Rabbi Sacks would have recognized as much like his own!! Thank you, Rabbi Dunner.

Pinny ,great message, was as you said, he was such a mench, besides all what he was, once I took a 13 bus soon after shabbos from GG Station, for hashgocho work ,it was soon after he finished being Chief Rabbi, he and his wife got on 2 stops later at the Dunstan Road stop ,I felt a little embarrassed, and blushed, what did he do, they sat specially adjacent to me ,and had a such a beautiful down to earth chat with me ,I got off at St johns wood ,and the Sacks's must have gone on to the west end ,his humbleness and menshlekite shone, such a tragic loss to the world, זכר צדיק לברכה

Reb Shlomo, Sue Lawley, Gateshead...it's like we never left Richmond Terrace. Thank you for a beautiful tribute. Chaval al de'avdin was never a more appropriate epithet. He was a giant of emmes and meaningful and impactful humility whose like these days is rare. Good Shabbos

Thanks for this well deserved eloquent eulogy for this godol beyisroel. Please note that he held to his view about the monopoly on truth as it can be heard at the end of the clip with Gordon Brown at NYU and probably more. Thus, he did not change into thinking that the haredis have this monopoly, which is part of his greatness. For the sake of peace he edited the next edition but left the first one as was.

thankyou for a most dignified original and eloquent tribute in both content and delivery, one of which Rabbi Sacks himself would have been proud - i can see him saying up on high - "thanks Pini for that amazing Hesped...it really meant a lot to me - and to the "oylam" up here !" can one nevertheless in the interest of honest and open debate which the late Rabbi Sachs himself would no doubt encourage, point out that the idea of relativistic truth of the Torah which he did appear to entertain as opposed to an absolute monolithic truth was something of a revolutionary idea not to the best of my sorely limited knowledge found in the Torah or the Talmud and with a potential spiritual danger not for individuals like Rabbi Sacks himself but for others who might be tottering on the edge - this is not to attempt to diminish the legacy or life of the late great Rabbi Sacks but rather to bravely embrace rather than avoid the substantive and to my mind possibly problematic thesis of that said book - perhaps one might venture to say that it was ultimately the intense Menchlechkait itself of Rabbi Sacks which Pini so sensitively describes, and his deep respect and feeling for all that may have unwittingly motivated Rabbi Sacks to attempt to bridge this hitherto unpassable theological divide. (my apologies, for brevity and brevity only by Pini i mean Rabbi Reb Pini Duner)
