I bought one of those crested lactia grafted a year ago and it’s not growing not dying, yours are so big must be a few years of growth, thanks for sharing!!!

Hmmm, if it's not growing you might want to give it a repot, soil change. Or it may just need some food. A secretary we have at work had one in her north facing window of her office. For a few years, like you say, no growth. Just sitting. She was afraid that it might die eventually, so she gave it to me. I immediately I repotted it. Then after a couple of weeks I fed it and It got better light , boom! It started growing!!! It's put on about three inches in hight!! So it may just need some encouraging!! From Morris park in the Ozarks , thanks for watching!!! Peace,Love,Plants!!!!✌💖🌵🌸🌴🌲🌺🌳🌻🌿🌷🍀🌹😀👍

Another very informative video, Clyde. I noticed yesterday that one of my Opuntia crests is putting out some normal growth so I’ll have to cut those off eventually. I use the cinnamon powder on cuttings too, also learnt that from Lyn. I used cinnamon on the cuttings I sent to you as well 👍🏻 Thank you for sharing with us as always my friend, have a wonderful Sunday from Edith & myself to you and Deb 🌵☀️🌼🌸🌺🏜

Speaking of the plants you sent, the monadenium ( Euphorbia) neorubella has its first flower buds!!! Thanks for watching guys!!! @@deepgreenmoon Wow! I am quite surprised they don't have any good selection of Euphorbias🤔 that is a big city !!! Here, even in the smaller cities , big box stores get in a selection, sometimes surprisingly great ones!! We live out in the Ozarks country side. Our closest town has nothing. Although, the small town I work from 16 miles away, I found a little Euphorbia pulvinata in a tiny produce shop!! It's now a large beautiful plant!!! Funny where a find can happen!! Bought my Euphorbia aeruginosa at a farmers market!! Try on line! I've bought a few this way with great results!!! Glad to here you love these plants!! Thanks for watching!!! Very interesting! I’m not sure if you mentioned it but can a crested Euphorbia be grown in its own roots?
@morrisparkintheozarks6831
@morrisparkintheozarks6831 3 года назад
No, Ana , but that is a good point!! Yes they can! But their roots are weaker. Especially on variagated types. So grafting speeds up growth & makes them stronger. Which makes things easier and not so stressful and more enjoyable to grow!!! From Morris park in the Ozarks, out to Las Vegas, have a great day Ana!!! Peace,Love,Plants!!!!!✌💖🌵🌴🌺🍀🌷🌲💐🌻🌿🌹😀👍

Grt. Chapter on Euphorb. 101 , I'm glade you covered this information. I've had a question / thought !? on Cresting for awhile ! What causes it! and can a Hobbyist replicate it into the jeans of a seedling from pollination or other undiscovered ways ... if not already ! Something similar to animal breeding for genetics if you will!! to get the genetics from the parent plants . In addition , why I've had these interest is... I have a Crested Obesa Male .. so , my thought was... if I pollenate it to a crested Female the chances are that that much greater the seedlings would have the genetic jeans to reproduce as crested ! Or is my theory incorrect!! At the same time it is trying to correct itself w/ a main stem/ trunk ... I'd hate to cut it Off since it would give it an Eye Sore Look, being from where it's growing ! Hopefully it goes back to mutating ! I would Greatly Appreciate your input Knowledge/ Expertise ...Thank you .. From Calif. Rosemead/Temple City .. Your Old Hood! lol .. Cactus On !
@morrisparkintheozarks6831
@morrisparkintheozarks6831 3 года назад
As far as I know, this can only be replicated by cuttings, or a chance seedlings or plant that mutates. Seed from crested plants may carry a gene that makes it more possible for seedlings to come out crested also. But as far as I know these are the only ways. From Morris park in the Ozarks, have a great day!!!! Peace,Love,Plants!!!✌💖🌵🌴🌺🍀🌷🌲💐🌻🌿🌹😀👍

@@eclectic1080 We clone plants by taking cuttings, removing pups, or dividing large plants. If you want to get real scientific, and real expensive, there is meristem culture. People have been cloning plants for over a thousand years. That is the only way to reliably propagate crested, variegated, monstrose, or many genetically unstable varieties. Seedlings are not clones. Seedlings carry the genes of both pollen and seed parent. Since most desirable mutations are genetically recessive, the seeds will not reproduce that mutation until after several generations of inbreeding, if ever. Many desirable mutations are not caused by genes, but by a physical trauma to the growing meristem, caused by disease, radiation or some other injury and will not be passed down to seedlings

Have you ever had your normal growing euphorbia or cacti start cresting? I only have the normal growing white lactea. What is the likelihood that i'd end up with a crested arm?
@morrisparkintheozarks6831
@morrisparkintheozarks6831 Год назад
Yes, this doesn't happen very often. Having your normal lactea crest is more likely not to happen. If you want crested plants the best way is buying them or getting cuttings from friends. Growing from seed can give more chances of crested plants because of random mutation that can take place with seedlings. So if you want crested plants, best to buy. Or it may be a long wait. Good info! But why my cutting getting mushy after I dry it for a week?
@morrisparkintheozarks6831
@morrisparkintheozarks6831 Год назад
This could be a number of things. Was the plant you took it from dying or rotting! Did you water it heavy when you planted it? Or is it just natural from water loss from drying. Also depending on what plants you took cuttings from. Some don't retain water as well as others. So without seeing it I'm not sure. But these are just some of the factors that it could be. Thanks for watching!! Hope your cuttings will be fine!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, have a wonderful weekend ahead!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🍀🌻🌳🌱🌾🥀🌷🌴🌹🌸🪴💐😃👍

Overwatering killed my plant. When I'm away for a long weekend, I ask a buddy to water it. Unfortunately, I failed to instruct her to first inspect the soil. My plant is almost the same size as yours. I'm feeding her well, and she's blossoming with brilliant colour. So, by the time I got home, my plant had already died. I removed the mushy one and saved the other slice and I had about 20 cuts, but none of these survive except one I had now. I've tried various methods I learned from articles and RU-vid, but none of them work. Appreciate if you could advise about it. Thank you.
@morrisparkintheozarks6831
@morrisparkintheozarks6831 Год назад
@@itchyfeets4514 unfortunately when Euphorbias rot it rapidly spreads.this is because of their large vascular system that carries all that sap. So once infection starts it goes through the plant quickly and theirs not much hope. If it's gone mushy it's too late. Also never try to start in water. This just makes it rot faster. Cuttings of these plants can last months without soil or water. I've had pieces of these setting on the bench forgotten for a couple of months, planted them and they are fine. Water is the problem. To me it sounds like a new plant is the solution here. Also next time you go on vacation for a couple of days or even a couple of weeks, it's better just not to water .mine survive all winter with none at all!!! Almost 6 months!!! Water these plants only when the soil completely dries out. Then water well and repeat the process of drying out between watering. If anything is left of the plant , cut away rot, dry for two weeks, then plant. But it sounds like it's too far. After 20 cuts sounds like it's gone too far. Best of luck! Sorry you lost this plant. Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🍀🌻🌳🌱🌾🥀🌷🌴🌹🌸🪴💐😃👍

Can crested be propagated?
@morrisparkintheozarks6831
@morrisparkintheozarks6831 14 дней назад
Yes, crested plants can be rooted like other normal plants. They are a bit slower, but will root. Variagated ones a bit slower but will still root . Thanks for watching!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, have a wonderful week ahead!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🌻🌷🌴💐🌱🍀🌹🌿🌸🌳🪴🌾😃👍
