Thanks Chayo!! These Euphorbia lactea variagata are so easy to start from cuttings!!! A great plant to have!!! And very easy to grow Also. I hope your yard has recovered from that drought last year. It's hard to watch the plants that we normally nourish with love with attention get so dry and helpless. Nature doesn't always rebound, but we can rebound when we have to think and act within another set of boundaries. Oh, and I love it when I get to go on a yard tour and the tour guide knows and loves all the plants down to the yellowing mint plant growing up the side of an out building. Take care and may your property be nourished with lots of rain.

Well Terry, unfortunately it's been a continuation. If I showed just a pic of a section of grass....grass? It looks like I am back in Tucson!! Dead and crunchy!! We have been watering every day different sections of the park. Not the grass, but like an area we call the money row, all peonies!! Our little bitty veg garden & other plants. It's a hard battle! Rain is very infrequent. And not enough to make a difference. When it stops, it goes powder dry in an hour. Until last night. We got a great storm that moved through, dropped a lot of rain over a couple of hours. But today is a steambath, in the high 90s!! We are supposed to get more tonight . I hope! At least the cactus and Euphorbias like it ok!!! Thanks for watching!!! And your great comments!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, have a wonderful day!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🌿🌻🍀🌹🌴🌱🌸🪴🌾🌷🌳💐😃👍

That’s a good looking pot full of Lactea! I like how it came out. Wow, your yard looks like a yard here in Vegas. 🙁 For you to get that dry too, something is really not right with Mother Earth. My fig tree too did not come up well this year. I used to get a basket full of figs but this year, I only got 5 small ones! 😩 I let the birds just have them. They are too small to eat. Hope we all get some rain soon. Thanks Clyde!

Thanks Ana!!! Yes I think it looks better thicker! These grow so tall and rangey I like them better short & bushy!! Boy oh boy!! It is powder dry!! We finally got some rain yesterday, not alot, enough to hear the plants say AHHHH!!! I think I will still get some figs, just not as many. Although the deer may end up with them!! Deb noticed a deer in the park started eating her impatient. We didn't run her off cause everyone needs to eat & drink. They are jucy!!! And they are gone now!!! The doe really enjoyed them!!! Hahaha!!! Luckily they don't like cactus ,Euphorbias aloes & agaves!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, out to the desert there from the desert here, have a wonderful week ahead!!! BRILLIANT video and tips on propagating and planting Euphorbia lactea cuttings Clyde, its a gorgeous Euphorbia and they look awesome all potted into the wonderful clay pot, so sorry you guys are having a drought there, I hope you get rain soon, the UK and Ireland are having a freak very hot heatwave right now and it was 115F in our polytunnel yesterday and that was with two big fans on and the door wide open, and we haven't had any good rainfall for weeks now and our garden is so dry and its very unusual for us to go so long with no rain for Ireland haha, thanks so much for sharing Clyde, and Hans and I are sending you and beautiful Deb and all the pets and plants all lots of love and happiness and PEACE, LOVE, PLANTS and PLANT POWER to Morris Park for a fantastic Tuesday XXXX

We finally got some nice rain Sunday, but unfortunately it's not near enough. The temperature this week will be 100° - 105°F all week long!! I like hot weather, but this is way too much!! Really afraid we might lose a lot of plants in the park. Last time this happened 10 years ago, trees in the woods even started dying. Hopefully it won't get that far. Yeah very unusual for you all , the UK & Europe to get this, I think of you all being cool compared with us during summer. This is crazy!!! Let hope for a break soon guys!!! Is the propagation procedure the same during the winter ? Say like a milk barrel or zipper plant ?
@morrisparkintheozarks6831
@morrisparkintheozarks6831 Год назад
@@markdale278 Propagation for these is like most cactus & succulents with thick stems. After cutting, let the cuts dry for a week or so, then plant in well draining soil , cactus mix. Root powder works well also. You can root them during winter as long as they are inside where it's warm. Make sure they are actively growing. This helps.if cuttings are big like my Euphorbia resinifera cuttings, I just cut them dried the wound then put them on dry soil in the greenhouse. I won't water them till March. They ate so big and thick they will last for months without water. Want to wit till the greenhouse warms more around spring. Then it should be OK. So if you want to take cuttings, put them under a growlight in the house or a nice warm sunny window and you should be good! Thanks for watching and your great question!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, have a wonderful weekend ahead!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌️💖🌵🥀🌳🏵🌿🌸🌱🌷🌲🌹🌴🌾🌻🪴💐🍀😃👍

You mentioned "Moss Rose Purslane", I have loads of those plants in my garden & flower beds. I have the heirloom variety who's blooms are the single type. I'm not a fan of the cultivar with the double & quadruple bloom that more resembles a carnation. Every year I'm amazed at the variety of colors of their blooms: yellow, orange, red, violet, purple, pink, tan & sometimes even white. I don't do anything special for them, they come up every year from seed & do well amongst other flowers & garden vegetables provided they get enough direct sunlight.
@morrisparkintheozarks6831
@morrisparkintheozarks6831 2 года назад
Yes, Deb loves them!!! We get many varieties every year. I usually take a piece of each variety in the fall and root them. Keep through the winter. So we have a container with a bit of everything. Then we buy others in the spring. One of the few things that take this heat!!! Thanks for watching!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, have a wonderful week ahead!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌💖🌵🌺🌿🌻🪴🌹🏵🌳🌷🌴😃👍

@@morrisparkintheozarks6831 Cool, mine come up from seed as volunteers every year so I don't have to help preserve them. Like many gardeners I also have the the weedy kind of Purslane people call "Pigweed". I cultivated a 3 foot square patch of it a few years ago because I heard it was edible & very nutritious. As far a taste goes they were no big deal & ultimately their scattered offspring just added to the amount of weeds I had to remove so I went back to pulling them all up & occasionally I'll add a couple of them into my salads.

@@allanpeck8523 yes, when I worked at live oak gardens in Arcadia California when I was young, my boss li Chen used to call it pig weed!! So this must be a world wide name for it, she was from Taiwan. Thanks, haven't heard it called that for decades!!!😃👍

Yes, watering has been the daily grind after work!. This is not normal for us. Usually we get very warm and humid with some rain every week or so. We went over two months with hot dry weather. Reminds me of when I lived in Tucson Arizona. Or when we have been having strong hot winds, it's reminded me of so.California during the Santa Ana winds, these are hot winds that blow off the Mojave desert to the coast. Like being blow dried!!! And since we are nowhere near the Mojave, it's like what is up with this hot desert wind here in the Ozarks!! We just started getting some good rain this week. And the grass has gone from powder to greening up again. Still hot. The good thing is I'm lucky I like xerophytes. All the cactus & succulents have done well in this!! Yes, the lactea really needed to be restarted, the old woody roots just didn't want to grow back after replanting last year with the King. So I think restarting a new set or roots will be good for it. I left the stumps of the two with the King just in case they decided to grow again. Hope you guys break the heat soon and get rain!!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, Peace, Love, Plants, and Rain ⛈

@@morrisparkintheozarks6831 Thank you Clyde🙏. Oh yeah, I have similar problem, we change from humid and mild climate to a dry and extremely hot summer with Sahara desert winds that kills all the greenery. We got the first rain yesterday (hopefully that means the end of summer is closer) but tomorrow we start with another heat wave alert... Just four or five days of relief🙈. You did perfect with that Euphorbia, hope you get de some sprouts of the stumps too🤞🌱😘, have a good weekend!☮️🌵💞.

@@cactusandfriends_by_vane Not looking forward to end of summer here. This means a prelude to what's coming!! Fighting mother nature for who gets the greenhouse!! As we can get so cold here!! 🥶 We finally got a really good rain early this week!!! Gave a lot of much needed deep water to all the plants outside. I thought I could hear all say AHHHH!!!! I even had to bring my trichocereus grandiflores hybrid in to the greenhouse so it wouldn't rot!! Lost one that way from just one day of heavy rain a couple of years ago. What we like to call a toad strangler! Or gully washer! Luckily I grabbed a seed pod off it and now have 8 seedlings from it. So all was not lost! Our weather here has cooled down to the mid to high °80s F. A lot nicer than °107 F!! Thanks for watching Vanesa!!! And your wonderful comments!!! Hoping you get some rain!!! Nicely done, Clyde 😊 Repotted my variegated lactea recently, hopefully it’ll put out some new branches but if not I can always cut it. Your lawn looks like ours at the moment 😂 Can’t remember the last time we had any significant rainfall here, and my rain water barrel is almost empty 😬 Yeah tomorrow and Tuesday are gonna be the scorchers, I’ve already draped some 90% shade netting over the greenhouse as I can see temps in there getting up close to 50c! Going to cool down dramatically by Wednesday though thankfully, but we got some very warm nights to deal with as well, maybe as high as 25c, gonna be uncomfortable sleeping. This plant is very popular right now here and I have to say that your cutting composition is the most beautiful version of this plant I have ever seen. Can you show us the mother plant also together with the cuttings ? Yes the land looks pretty dry in your garden. I wish you will have rain very soon ! Yesterday we had 41 degrees C in Paris and the air outdoor was so

Unfortunately I cut the whole plant apart to restart. The original roots looked questionable when I replanted them last year. The roots were too woody . And I was thinking this. So no growth this year confirms what I thought. So a whole restart was the best way to go. Left the bottom third of the plants and just restarted. And yes I think it looks much better!!! And as it grows will look much better!!! Yes, I hope this heat breaks for us all!!! I like heat, but not over 100, or high 30s - low 40s for you all. Got a little rain Sunday, but was just a drop in the bucket!! We all need more!!! Let's hope! Thanks for watching Anna!!! And your great comments!!! @morrisparkintheozarks6831 2 года назад
The thing to remember on these is don't baby it!! Don't think about " oh my!! Does it need water!! Water when completely dry. It doesn't need to be moist all the time. Don't pay so much attention to it. As I said in the video, I've had cuttings laying out I've forgotten about for a year!!! And they were still alive and some formed short roots with no soil at all!! So as a basic rule, only water cactus & Euphorbias if the soil has dried completely they will probably do better with a little neglect rather than worry. During winter I don't water at all. They stay dry!! My lacteas get water from March to October. Make sure your soil is well drained!! This is important . They like the moisture when they need it. Water thoroughly, drain quickly and let dry until next watering. Feed monthly half strength tomatoe fertilizer during growing season. Thanks for watching!!! Spring & summer , now are best. As a matter of fact, I've been repotting a few lately. After repotting, put in a shaded area so they can heal up for a couple of weeks. And don't water for a week to two weeks, depending on how moist the soil was during transplanting. Two weeks is safe. My mix is one bag of beyond peat, a peatless wood compost mix. This alone is only good for a base. Then add two of the small bags of coconut coir and then two bags same size of perlite ( or pumice preferred if available) we don't have that available here. So perlite. Mix thoroughly in a wheelbarrow. Then one third bag of pave sand which can be purchased at Lowes or any home improvement store. Mix in thoroughly and then I put the Mix in the soil bags. I often save a few old miricalgrow bags from using that out side for regular Plants. Then store it away till I need it. I also will mix in for " big bend" plants that grow in lime stone soils, I mix in crushed dolomite that I get from the bluffs over the river a couple of miles away from the park. I use this for Astrophytum & lophophora, or any other plants from that region. And that's it!! Hope this helps you out !!! From Morris Park in the Ozarks, have a wonderful day, enjoy that rain!!! Peace, Love, Plants!!!✌💖🌵🌺🌿🌻🪴🌹🏵🌳🌷🌴😃👍
