I personally think he’s sexual attracted to Jules but has no intentions of being with her. But he’s attracted to Rue on a deeper level, like he actually wants to be with her. He hasn’t sexualized Rue once unlike Jules which is all he did this season. But it’s obvious he’s trying to break them up which is just mad shady 💀

Rewatching this scene and realizing how much passion Elliot put into kissing Rue lol my guy was INTO IT. In an alternate universe and minus the drugs they’d actually look good together.

i think jules did this so that if rue finds out she was kissing elliott behind her back then she can say “you kissed elliott too” so it’ll make her feel less guilty. like who dares their partner to kiss another person? that’s so weird and for him to go along with it? he’s just there to play around with them and ruin everything. the both of them do not need to be together. and elliott is just annoying me. i feel like jules doesn’t actually like rue, she just likes stable attention. and she’ll quickly trade rues attention for anyone else. no one who actually likes you and values you will cheat on you and pretend like nothing happened 30 seconds later.

Jules pisses me off in this scene. She’s straight up cheating on rue but when Elliot kisses rue she gets all heated and jealous. Like tf. Is she jealous because Elliot was kissing rue or that rue was kissing Elliot.

Elliot is manipulating both of them. He knew Jules is still struggling with this horrendous idea of confirming her feminity through the male gaze and he knew Rue was high as a kite and not due to weed but some really dangerous things you shouldn't mix with alcohol; nevertheless, he offered them to go and steal some booze (drinking won't affect him because he chose not to sniff the line Rue had prepared for him). Then, he proceeded to advised Rue not to drink alcohol, to create this image of a "concerned friend" in Jules and even Rue's eyes. Besides, he's deeply aware of the "sex problems" and the communication problems this pair have had from day one. They both talk to Elliot like they aren't able to talk to each other. Don't get me wrong, though. I stopped shipping Rue and Jules after the end of the first season, I'm sure they were a mess way before Elliot was added to the equation, but to deny Elliot's involvement in all this chaos is insane.

Bruh, at this point, they might as well have a threesome. Rue loves Jules, Jules loves Elliot and Elliot loves Rue. If this ain’t a triangle, I don’t know what is 🙃

I think Elliot is manipulating both of them. He knows that Jules is very insecure in her sexuality and is still unconsciously seeking male validation, so he tries to make her doubt that Rue loves her, and he knows that Rue is higher then the writer’s making this episode, and won’t notice anything

I think Dominic has real feelings for rue and not just sexual feelings. And Jules likes Dominic but keeps rue around for attention (which isn’t good) and rue actually likes Jules. I feel bad for rue.

Everyone is claiming that Elliot is so manipulative and calculated but I genuinely think he's just confused. Rue and Jules are both using him and literally putting him in the middle of their drama and I just think he's going with the flow because he doesn't know what else to do. Keep in mind he's like 17 and high out of his mind, he doesn't have the emotional intelligence to process what's really going on, I don't think it's that deep for him.

I think what a lot of people forget is that Jules represents who Rue used to be and wishes to become which is having a hopeful future, but at the end of S1 Rue let's Jules go i.e. letting that part of herself go since the entirety of S1 she was trying to stay sober for the people around her in order to return to the person she was before drugs. Through Jules, she realizes she can't return to that person and why she can't stay clean. This is where Elliot's significance comes in. He symbolizes a new chapter in Rue's life and through Elliot she'll learn to change and grow into a new person, not for the benefit of others, but for herself. As for Jules, this season she represents Rue ready to let go of an old chapter of her life, but embracing a new and brighter future. This is why in this episode we see Rue hallucinating in a church because it's her confessing her sins and cleansing her soul of the guilt and despair she has been feeling her entire life. Her father and Labrinth who are supposed to represent her guardian angel and/or God is them saying "it's okay, we'll love you no matter what and we'll always be there for you. You're not a terrible person. You're just lost and need to find yourself".

I just don't get the appeal of Jules. The show keeps having characters fall in love with her and constantly tell us how amazing she apparently is but she seems ordinary. Not to mention how poorly she treats Rue

I’m pleasant surprised this scene has so many views because I rewatched it on hbo several times. I love so much about it- how loose Elliot is dancing, the way Jules flips onto the bed, the way Elliot falls back and snuggles into Jules, and when Rue comes back and vibes with the song. Great music, actor chemistry, set dressing, camera movement.

Zendaya acting when Jules said fu**king amazing is really brilliant. I was literally in same situation when one fucked up person did as Jules did. I couldn’t say anything but smile and pretended to cool. Z didn’t say anything but the viewers can feel what’s happening inside her.

Jules wants their relationship to be more sexual, she wants Rue to want her more physically (Rue was literally faking an orgasm earlier in this episode) and she's using Eliot to get what she finds lacking in Rue. Rue on the other hand wants Jules but also wants to be free to do drugs. She says the best thing would be Fentanyl and Jules, but since she can't have both she'll have Jules FOR NOW (which is also prettty disturbing) and since she can't share that part of herself with Jules she's using Eliot to get that need met. They are both going behing the other's back to get their needs met.
