Yup, also the way everyone puts Maddy on a pedestal because she’s pretty and a “baddie” and never acknowledge the fact she falsely acused someone of rape
@@Aria.Alchemy That's part of making them feel complicit as well. If it feels good, it means no one pressure you into it and they cannot be held responsible. And gets you hooked. There's obviously other way to get that feeling.. But why are they somehow less available?
One thing that amazes me about Nate's character is that when he beats the shit out of the guy that had sex with Maddie in the pool, he does it only out of frustration(???), he knows he wasnt raping her, I mean, he was in fact just beating him because he is a psycho. Thats insane. Nate's character development is insane. I love how Euphoria explores that.
If Cassie's mom is loving and understanding why Cassie in this situation now??Just because her mom gave her permission to do whatever she liked didn't make her a loving and understanding mom.
@i know exactly who you are listened to it again months later, it still doesn't sound like sarcasm to me. They even supported their stance with explaining how she's gaining confidence and earning money
I think McKay JUST graduated from high school. So he is 18 which is why him and Cassie being together isn't weird cause she's 17 Edit: I'm referencing 2:00 when she says McKay and cassie dating is illegal which its not
Ohh wait I know rue and Lexi are juniors so maybe Cassie and Maddy are seniors. This would mean Nate is a senior and Jules is a junior. And Rue's sister is a freshman???
what scares me about this show is how quickly our youth are turning to this type of behavior. It's actually horrifying to look around you and realize that this type of "exaggerated" shitty and degenerate behavior is literally becoming normal, and even glorified. And I am more appalled at this channel's commentary on it, where she literally says "good for her" about a child camgirl. Sad.
Bruh I know but it's not everyone's youth and reality and it does say a lot about society and so forth but again we shouldn't generalize it too much there are still decent people and these are actors in a fantasy drama...in real life living like this is exhausting and usually some people reach an epiphany or something others don't
*please* do a recap for S2 as soon as possible. This video was great, and as someone who doesn't watch shows this dark because it triggers my depression and anxiety, recaps are my only way to stay up to date on lots of popular shows. You are kind of my life saver right now :)
I know this was a while ago but I think mckay is way too overhated. I understand why fans say they dont care about him because the writer wrote him like he did not matter. Some say mckay was worse than nate and Daniel wtf?????Mckay was not perfect but that will always confuse and disturb me. I feel like he was the most underwritten compared to everyone else. He got an episode and still felt like a background character. He was the token black stereotypical jock with the weakest storyline and development who was more of a plot device for cassie than a character. I think his story can be interesting but the writer chose the least interesting aspect to somewhat explore: football instead of being black in a nearly all white town, his frat, his relationship with family. Where was his mom?, his friendship with nate, why he let people influence him, how toxic masculinity affects him and young men in general. Hell even his sexual assault( dry humping) was not explored. The writer completely downplayed it and shifted the focus to cassie instead of exploring his mental health and trauma which I am shocked that no one is mentioning and how they used the black male lead as a plot device for a white character and nothing more. They presented mckay in a one dimensional way I feel. His episode was more about cassie than it was about him. Also mckay is less than a year older than Nate and Cassie . is it really weird he hangs out with him??? And Nate threw the party at mckay house. Great video tho
lmao no mckay is literally like my ex , not really any personality just football and sex so it’s realistic some ppl just dont have so much to hide or happening in their lives. McKay isnt nearly as bad as nate or daniel but he’s still bad in his own way.
OKAY THANK YOU! I also said out if everyone I feel like McKay was written so boring! And a lot of his moments were made all about Cassie! Even his SA scene! It's like he was written just to take up space. His episode didn't even get a name like the others it was just titled "The Next Episode" idk I get low key colorism vibes when it comes to the writing of him. Probably bc he was written by someone who isn't black
i want to see more of McKay but i think the fact that he’s not in high school and he’s not even really connected to Rue in any way makes them not explore his character more. even though Fez isn’t in school he’s at least connected to Rue. not sure if that’s the case, just a theory.
Cassie and Maddy are seniors and and McKay is a college freshman, so McKay is only 1 year older than Cassie. Cassie is 17, McKay is 18. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with their relationship tbh, especially since they knew each other and were in the same friend group in high school.
It's not legal and she's still a minor, that's full on rape and pedophilia charges since he got her to send nude photos. Idk how people don't realize this shit because it's not ok.
@@Bread-nx9fo depends on where they live. It’s never specified what state euphoria is set in. In California it would be illegal yes. But I live in Canada where the legal age of consent is 16 so I don’t get it. At 16 I was able to consent to sex with anyone who wasn’t in a position of power. They are literally 1 year apart
Idk about logical after season 2. He's very reckless and killed Mouse, his buddy, and Custer which lead him to having to sacrifice himself to keep his brother safe
@@kai8617 hey he is taking accountability for his actions and done that because he deem mouse and custer endangering his brother. I would even say he is even more responsible than Cassie and rue combined. He died a brave but foolish man but man nonetheless
i feel like rue is the true villian i hate her lowkey she chooses herself over everyone else and when they try to help her she brings them down with her
Great recap to refresh my brain. And I’m a Fez fan! He loves Rue like a sibling for real!!! He may do what he do…and Nate is foul for what he did, but Fez is cool af
7:18 - you say “good for her!” Despite minutes earlier acknowledging that the illegal video uploaded to PH of Kat was CP. and therein lies the cognitive dissonance of Euphoria fans
i don't think it's fair to generalize like that- the problem lies not in the people who are fans of the show, but the people who assume the show endorses everything it depicts, which it doesn't.
McKay is 19, Cassy is 18. he's only a year older lol. not really illegal or even that weird. now if he was like 24 she was 16 that be another story. hell if he was 19 and she was 16. but 1 year? plus she's a legal adult, I wouldn't say it's all that weird. I'm 19 and most of the people I know are either 18 19 or 20. being within a one-year range is pretty normal. Maybe it's the junior thing?
THANK YOU so much! You spared me from watching the whole season. I found the show too heavy and messed up, but I was still interested in what eventually would happen. LOL. Your recap was awesome.
came back to recap the 1st season. Looking back this is exactly what high school was like from seeing all the random things kids would ingest during school and in parties all the way down to that one toxic psycho couple that breaks up every other day.
i been debating watching euphoria since it came out because everybody loves it and i love zendaya and hunter schafer but i know from what ive heard that watching the show will undo every hour of therapy ive ever had so thank u for the recap
Thank you for the recap, I usually remember what happens between seasons, but it's been so long since season 1 because of the pandemic that I forgot so much!
Loved this recap, calling out some of the lame bs in the show too. I watched first episode and was happy to find this cliff note version of the rest of the season. couldnt stomach watching a whole season of this over sensationalized, over dramatized version, that's not anything remotely close to real high school.
Literally me watching this to decide if I want to dive into the show 😭 because episode 1 was enough for me to log out. Like, there is ZERO repercussions for these people. No beatings by parents, permanent expulsions, STIs, a nosy neighbor, NADA
Pretty triggering. I’m glad I watched this recap to see what all the fuss is about, but there’s no way I could get into the show. My stomach flip flopped a few times just hearing what happened. Yikes! I mean, maybe a few kids at my high school were like this, but it wasn’t glamorous it was mostly really sad and some of them died.
I'm never watching this show I'm only here because instagram and legit every single social media platform is shoving this show down my throat and I don't understand a lot of it. Really glad this video exists so I don't waste my life any more than I already am.
I just want to take a moment and appreciate the humor of this video's narrator. Seriously, this recap was much more interesting because of how you narrated it 😂
this is the only way for me to watch euphoria 💀 like, i am genuinely interested in euphoria but i can't watch it that much... it's too heavy for me, so thank you
Thank you so much for putting this together. It was done so well. I didn’t want to watch the show because of the cursing and other stuff but I still wanted to know what was going on
I remember after this show was released and people started to watch it, Nate’s behavior and how he is relationship wise started to get romanticized. I personally believe there aren’t any bad people in the world. they just grew up in certain environments or became subject to things that affected them to make them who they are today. We can see that in Nate, the way his dad and his family treated him, played a role in shaping who he became. But really it isn’t right at all to romanticize and set a standard for women and men/boys and girls to be treated like that in a relationship. It is seriously toxic and unhealthy. Please remember this and take care of yourselves out there. His behavior towards others, most especially Maddy, isn’t praiseworthy at all.
It’s too bad right now it seems like they’re into each other for the wrong reasons 😭 Jules seems to like attention/validation (and the idea of Rue loving her like the video said) and Rue has addictive tendencies and needs a rush/distraction in any form (regardless of whether or not there’s actual love there).
Watching this before starting season 2. Jules' reaction at 11:13 made me spit out my drink LOL. Completely forgot about that scene! I had forgotten half of all the diabolical shit Nate did in season 1. That lunatic really is a bond villain!!! 😂😂😂
I find it's way better for a show to complete, and then watch it. I can't stand the time delay between seasons anymore. I finally watched GOT last winter, binge-watching is the way to go. I do it in a particular way when there's a complex plot, like with Westworld. I watch episodes 1,2,3, then watching 1,2 again, then go 2,3,4, then 3,4,5 and so on. This is a must-do when watching a complex show. It also pays to wait a decade and rewatch something. I recently watched Lost again, for the 4th or 5th time, and understood a lot more, and picked up a lot more, by rewatching it years later. I did the same with BSG.
Thank you for the warning, many of my friends are talking about this but I can’t handle basically everything you said in the warning. Appreciate it ! 0:17
@@niyaexclusive56 so you think it’s okay for a 17 year old to date a 13 year old bc they are both minors, but not a 18-19 year. Both are legal only one is morally wrong and that’s the side you’re choosing with your logic.
So Cassie and McKay we’re dating before he turned 18. She’s 17 and he’s 18. She’s on the higher age spectrum and he’s on the lower. He’s one year older than her, so that makes it significantly less illegal. It is a legal adult and legal child, but he was a child and she was a child when they got together. You got me?
Its actually not illegal at all. All states have the Romeo and Juliette law which includes any minor dating an adult within 30 months (2.5 years) of their age. Someone sixteen can legally date up to 18. Someone 17 can legally date up to 19, those are the age ranges allowed under the law. (Anything younger and they are both minors, Anything older and they are both adults, hence why the law applies to these specific ages).
