Rue better be in rehab the next episode. This episode was so intense. But I impressed at how she was able to avoid the police, the drug dealers, the dogs, couple she stole from like that.

Everyone is sleeping on Kat’s “Cass that’s like…really bad.” She’s both telling Cassie off, and subtly warning her to start running before Maddy does 😂
I think that when she says she is not afraid of maddy, that's her saying like from that part of her that gets to feel bold and in power when she's with nate, but when she's alone like by herself shes just the girl who's dad didn't love that much to stay around or at least thats how she feels. She's fighting those emotions, loving nate and not feeling guilty about that to the point of saying she is not scared of her and running away scared and crying for doing maddy wrong and feeling guilty about that.
I think had Cassie not would’ve said anything rue wouldn’t have said anything because like I stated in my previous comment, I don’t think she was trying to be in their business

As soon as Cassie said that “one day at a time” and then rue was like wait I gotta question.. I knew it was OVER for Cas 🤣 lmaooo Lexie’s reaction is literally me.
I knew it too 😂 and it was more surprising like this way, if nate or cassie would say it to maddy, or something else. Daaaamn, I laughed so much at this point (sry for my bad english, im hungarian)
Everyone knew that line Cassie said was stupid and naive but they just nodded at her dumb ass to protect her feelings. That's the issue with Cassie, her loved ones are never willing to tell her straight up about herself. So Glad Rue shut that down even though she still wrong for using Cassie as a way to take the heat off of herself 💀
@@writersblockerrday1672 Cassie herself is stupid and naive. She knows how toxic Maddy and Nate were, but she still managed to convince herself that Nate’s in love with her. Cassie’s issues run deep, but the coddling and babying she receives from the people around her only make it worse.
I’ve realized how Cassie is played as someone caring and wanting to solve “problems”, when Rue didn’t ask her at all for her help. Cassie shouldn’t have said , “take it one day at a time”, and later switched to “shes a drug addict”. It really showed how Cassie can switch up in seconds.
No fr. She’s played as this innocent sweet character when in reality she genuinely doesn’t give a shit about anyone but herself and does things just to make herself look good even though she hurts others. Even the “take it one day at a time” thing is sly. Being addicted to drugs is horrible and the way she said that line makes it seem like that shits easy to overcome.
@@sarahhayes2147God can you just shut up😭 drug addicts know damn well what they are doing and they can stop at any moment, stop acting like it’s very deep. Rue is fucked up for taking drugs just like how fucked up cassie is Lmao😭😭
I meaaan technically most people will switch up when backed into a corner and try to bring the attention back to the drug addict, when their backstabbing of their BFF is being exposed. Also most people are selfish just like Cassie , y’all don’t like it being shoved in your faces in an exaggerated manner. Literally all characters in the show do selfish stuff, all, Rue, Jules, Maddie , Kat, Cassie , and even Lexi by throwing that play . Literally all of them are extremely selfish at times because they’re f-img teenage girls from not that stable homes or environments…. I’ve seen /heard way worse stuff happening between girls from my middle school tbh idk what kind of stuck up nuns you grew up around but what they’re all doing is just typical teenager stuff if not typical stuff since adults also act like that ..
I just noticed Maddy's little smile when Cassie looked at her after that "one step at a time" thing, she really saw her as a very close friend and trying to be supportive even though the advice was tone deaf in regards to Rue's situation
The fact that Maddy knows Cassie well enough to know that she's lying speaks volumes to how much she trusted Cassie and truly believed that she was her beat friend.
she didn't just believe it. cassie is genuinely maddy's best friend, and maddy is cassies. cassie's just too mentally unstable and desperate for any scrap of male love or affection that she'd risk it all. she's a hypocrite and it's undeniably an AWFUL thing to do, but she's compartmentalised her friendship w maddy and her relationship w nate so much so that she thinks that both can exist separately without anyone getting hurt. a shitty friend, but i do believe she genuinely loves maddy.
right, i keep thinkin about how cassie gave maddy that cute scrapbook for her bday and she cried and hugged her. like the betrayal hurts knowin cas was already fuckin nate at that point lol
@@angeljones255 i did not miss anything..i was just thinking that if somebody was threatening my sister i would physically try to protect her..no matter what she did. Cassie earned it all
You can see that Lexi knows it is true because it is all making sense. That one close up with Lexi shocked covering her mouth, the wheels are turning and now cassie having breakdowns on the phone, crying and blacking out on maddys bday… it is all adding up
I kinda feel like Lexi already knew . I saw her watching her sisters behavior at the party and then then looking at Nate. She's an observer. She watches and takes in information then puts the pieces of the puzzle together. That's what we do.
HONESTLY the second she tried to be positive after we saw Rue literally acting a menace the whole day, I knew she should've just sat down in her little jumpsuit lol
I think Cassie was trying to be supportive. She is definitely not a good person and none of what she's done can be condoned. But it isn't anywhere near the same level as what Rue has done
This shows how addicts leave a path of destruction and chaos behind them. This scene broke my heart for each character but the entire episode was realistic. Great song!!
The only person with common sense. Because we all know Rue was counting on Maddy to loose her shit to divert the attention from herself (wether she wanted to actually run of from the beginning or just make everyone miserable - I can’t even tell at this point).
@@JB-wy8fc what would you do in Maddy's situation? I would freak out if my childhood best friend did it, she has the right to be angry, to be honest I thought she would react much worse, she just was calling her a b*tch, you thought she was gonna just stand there and smile? it would be fvcking weird, and how wouldnt she be angry if cassie did it to her and she is the one crying and she dare say that rue lying after all this
I know this is old, but hear me out. The reason Maddy believed Rue almost immediately is because she knows Cassie. When Rue said it, there’s a split second where Maddy doesn’t believe Rue. Hence her turning to look at Kat in the blurred background. It’s a nice touch actually, because the blur represents Maddy soon being blind. When Cassie reacts to said question, the blur clears, showing that Maddy, based on Cassie’s reaction, realizes that Rue isn’t lying. I’m sure you know your best friend like the palm of your hand. I knew every time my best friend lied. That’s why Maddy straight up says, “you’re lying.” Like bitch I know how you function, lying to me like I’m not your supposedly best friend is an insult. So Maddy, being the person she is, called her out. And if you look, Maddy looked at Kat twice. The first time being a ‘I know this bitch ain’t accusing my friend of no shit like that.’ And the second time being a ‘Holy shit she’s not lying’. That’s why Maddy believed her.
I know everyone is surprised at how much "calmer" Maddy is than we all expected, but think about it.... Cassie is her best friend. She absolutely loves that girl, I would be in shock.
@@c.c.m98 It’s calm for her standard. We saw through a flashback that Maddy gets violent whenever someone pisses her off. You’d think that she’d slap her in the face or try to throw something

For people saying that cassie ruined the friendship anyway for dating nate. Yeah you're right. This entire episode was so chaotic that it kind of gave me anxiety. From Rue fighting at home, then realizing her friends were in the living room, to her stealing and running from the cops made me hold my breath. When Cassie tried to encourage Rue by saying "You don't have to. Just take it one day at a time" I though it was slightly cringe because she's trying to convince a person with the most tragic breakdown to 'take it one day at a time'. It was like telling a depressed person to "just be happy" or an asthmatic person to "just breathe". But then Rue spitefully revealed Cassie's secret and I was like "oh damn, girl".
Definitely a little naive and patronizing, Whether she realized it or not. It’s like saying to Cassie “it’s super easy Cassie! Just stop seeking validation from men! Don’t worry about what your dad did to your family! One day at a time 💕” like... there are steps involved in changing. Cassie can’t say no, she fears losing people and always says yes to a shot at love. I still feel bad for both her and Maddie for falling in love with the worst possible person. There’s no peace with Nate Jacobs.
Oh fuck yes. Unless you’ve been through comedowns you don’t GET to tell me how it’s going to be 😂. Cassie deserved every thing she got. Go Maddie, kick her ass seabass
This really shows a lot about their characters. It shows how much rue really doesn't want to get clean to the point where she redirected the conversation away from herself, it shows how much Maddy actually saw Cassie as a friend and how much she trusted her, it shows how self-centered Cassie is to the point where she would rather stay dedicated to the innocent nice girl role rather than telling the truth and facing the consequences, it shows how Kat really does care for both Cassie and Maddy seeing as how she didn't jump to getting really upset at Cassie and still tried to comfort Maddy, it shows how much of an observer Lexi really is seeing as how she didn't try to intervene, and it shows the maturity levels of the parents seeing as how Rue's mother stayed focused to the main topic and Suze subconsciously tried to make Maddy feel like the bad guy by saying "you're acting like an animal".
I’ve started to realized too that Cassie and Lexi mom hasn’t been drinking much as she has in the past episodes, seems like she’s realizing that her daughters need her as a mom more than a friend and it’s nice seeing how much she’s trying to be there for them now
Not to mention the many attempts of her changing her appearance to try to get Nate to notice her, she even dressed up almost exactly like Maddie. That makes her selfish. "She's a drug addict" well she is telling the truth isn't she? She used her friend's addiction so no one would believe her. Like? girl? The evidence is right there! You tried to hide your guiltiness by crying
the fact that Rue just said that 'cause she wanted to create a distraction to escape from his mom was...unexpected. This episode was hard to watch in the way Rue cut ties with all of his family and friends. Rue knew what would happen if she said what she saw, i'm scared of Rue's fate not only for the money, but for what Nate will gonna do, even Cassie. Now only Maddy would be nice to her haha
i cant stand anyone saying it isnt cassie’s fault either. she clearly still wanted to do things when nate spoken to her about it & knew what she was doing. she even demanded it just as the same way nate did. so yes its both nate & cassie’s fault.
It's also Rue's fault, Cassie fucking Nate is something that she is incredibly afraid of and the idea of Maddy finding out caused her a lot of mental and emotional distress which Rue knew about, she has no right to out Cassie like that.
I honestly thought Lexi would find out and spill this tea in her play I did not expect Rue to casually blurt it out like that I kept having to pause this whole episode
@Smile Time I’ve been trying to figure out if she knew or not. I thought she did from the birthday party episode but since they didn’t say yet I really wasn’t sure
Riiighttt when I was watching the episode and rue said hey cass can I ask u sum, I was saying don’t u dare😑, cause I wanted Lexi to reveal it but rue had to ruin everything 🙄
Well, she needed an out & she knew Cassie was gonna open her mouth because, it's Cassie, so with Maddy there & knowing how Maddy can be she knew if she let out that little peice of information Maddy will takeover & Rue could run for the hills.
For those commenting that Rue is “selfish” and “crazy”. She is not any of these things. When your brain is addicted to a certain type of substance that provides you with emotional relief, it is EXTREMELY difficult for the addict to just “quit” taking the drug. When you’re an addict, your entire world depends on getting that fix or chasing that high, you’ll do whatever it takes and hurt whoever is in your path to obtain that substance. If you noticed in Season One, while Rue was sober, she was docile and an overall kind human being. However, it was when she was sober that her mental illness developed (bipolar disorder). So, she could also subconsciously be trying to medicate herself while getting high.
Thanks for saying this. Your comment about those who are addicted to substances really put it into perspective for me just how dependent they get on taking drugs and how nothing else matters. This show and your comment alike have helped me to understand more about those who take illegal substances, and I hope I can grow to be more sympathetic and understanding so thank you!!!
she is still selfish and crazy though. She is addicted and the addiction is making her act this way but that absolutely doesn’t absolve her from any of the shit she’s done. ik y’all sympathize with her but saying she isn’t selfish or crazy or manipulative is simply not true, even if the reason she’s acting this way is because she’s addicted. she is still responsible for everything she’s done.
What?!! Man shes an addict and definitely is selfish and manipulative asking her mom for the suitcase of pills and trying to convince her mom it’s someone else’s drugs which will put them in harm later on, and trying to steal her friends dying grandmothers pills for her own fix cmon shes a feen whos causing problems with everyone around her. lol don’t defend that or condone such activities
Being an addict, having mental illnesses(let's denormalize "crazy"), and being selfish are not mutually exclusive. She can be all of the above simultaneously.
I think Maddy's costume design is great here. If you look closely at Maddy, you can see under her blue fishnet top that she is wearing the necklace that Nate got her just an episode before. However, she is wearing a baby blue top, a color usually seen on Cassie. I think this shows how Maddy held them both on very high pedestals yet, Cassie was on top. Cassie was her best friend and yet they are both hurting her. They are both trailing off her emotions and she has her emotions on her sleeves. Maddy wanted them both in her life and now they're both gone
I do think there is an unspoken respect between Maddy and Rue, but Cassie's reaction to Rue's question was what made it instantly believable. You can tell her mom and Lexi are shocked too but neither of them seem to not believe Rue either. If it was a false accusation Cassie wouldn't nervously laugh and shake.
I really stan Maddie at this point. She believed Rue even though Cassie was her best friend. Cassie tried to throw curveballs at Maddie to make her think Rue was stupid and just a drug addict, but Maddie saw right through her little lies. Maddie knew Rue wouldn't lie because Rue was already going through enough shit, to begin with. She wouldn't pile on more shit at this point just so she could get Cassie in trouble. Rue also wouldn't lie because Cassie was really close to Rue then. it would make me so happy if Nate fucks up then Maddie shares the video of Jules and Cal. Also, I feel like Maddie and Rue could potentially be friends in the future. I mean they have both been betrayed and cheated on, and they already seem to have a good connection with each other sooo?
Just pointing out that her having sex with nate thinking they weren't getting back together doesn't make her any less kind or nice. Also, compared to what everyone was doing in season 1 this is literally not the worst Ya'll seem a little too cruel to her nd also didn't maddy literally send an innocent guy to prison...... why are ppl defending maddy but hating on cassie
@@igotapoundcakee I mean not neccacerally because Nate sort of bribed her into it but I can totally see where you're coming from. You're right it's not the worst but it's probably one of the biggest plots in the show.

I’m so happy maddy called out her crying, why are you upset when you’re the one lying to your friend?? Cassie is not innocent she’s just as fractured as the rest she needs to quit the saint Mary act
Exactly! It shows again when she still denied it and tried to turn it by saying rue is an addict... she just can't come clean with everyone and rather represents rue as the bad liar than admit to being a bad friend
Love the actress Sydney Sweeney who plays Cassie. She plays sociopaths who want to be loved by all, when she secretly wants put everyone around her in a blender and hit the blitz button, so well. She was incredible in Handmaid’s Tale 💕
Let’s not act like that wasn’t the most logical thing to do at the moment for her, it was more self defense than pure disgust at rue, which let’s be honest drug addicts get in society. I think Cassie is genuinely good in that sense, at least for rue as she is her relative from young age, and would’ve helped rue if she asked for any help that wasn’t bad for rue’s already worse health. Infact, a good thing to take away from this show is to view such people in different light. Any normal human being in fright would give that argument. It would’ve even worked if Cassie wasn’t emotional and Maddie didn’t have her doubts on her.
Awe I just noticed Lexi opens the door and goes “Cass, you wanna go on a walk?” She’s so sweet, tbh I don’t even remember her character from Season 1 but this whole storyline she’s got going with Fez is such a wholesome break from all the horrible stuff happening
Lmfao I bet when Rue said that all of them got a huge moment of CLARITY! Even if Cassie tried to continue the lie and say "Rue is a drug addict you can't believe her," it wouldn't work because Rue's statement makes too much sense and explains a lot of Cassie's weird behavior perfectly. - It explains why Cassie has been dressing like Maddy - It explains why Cassie hasn't been picking up facetime calls, especially at the same time Nate hasn't been picking up. And apparently Cassie always picks up. - It explains why she's been waking up at the buttcrack of dawn to get ready and also coming home super late. - It explains why no one could get a hold of her on New Years and why she was overly concerned when Fez attacked Nate. - Also, everyone knows Cassie has never been single, so the likelihood of her being with someone is high. - It explains her frantic phone calls crying. Her mother even says, "Those are not the emotions of a single person." - It explains why she got wasted when Nate showed up at Maddy's birthday party, threw up in the pool and started frantically apologizing to Maddy. - It explains why she snitched on Fez so easily once Call said the cops will look through their phones.
Absolutely right! Everything clicked in this moment. I guess this is why everyone seems so shocked, because they remember things that happend and put the pieces together.
The way Cassie was playing the nice persona to Rue and then immediately discredited her, saying how they could believe her since she’s a drug addict- Cassie we gotta sit down and chat
but still. cassie has her own set of REALLY fucked up issues, and it was not rues' place to out her like that in front of everyone. it was rude, and rue is honestly a horrible person too, she shouldn't act like she isnt.
