thanks for this video! excited for our trip :) , we will be in Zurich 28th Feb til 4th March...got out eurail passes already, can't wait to explore the country :)
How is your trip going? I plan on getting a eurail pass this week. How easy is it to use? I'm heading to Switzerland from Serbia with some stops along the way.
Hey guys.. great video giving clear information with example. You made it very easy for us to decide which pass to use while visiting Switzerland.. Keep up the good work :)
So informative, thank you so much you guys! Doing a Europe trip this August where we're gonna mostly be in cities except for Switzerland, where we mainly want to see the Alps. Looks like getting both a Eurail Pass and the Swiss Travel Pass might be the ideal option here.
Another great vlog you guys! This is very helpful. We plan to tour Europe someday and will surely do so by rail. Your channel has really been going strong, gotta love that! Great job! This map of Eurail shows you can go everywhere just about!!!
This is sooo sweet! Also I don’t know if you have tried TrainPal yet. Another good idea of booking cross national European train tickets! Highly recommend
Yeahhh, I love train around Europe. I was fascinated by the stunning scenery and rich history, but I was overwhelmed by the high cost. I think trainpal's discount coupon saved me.
Love, love, love your videos. Have been watching y’all for the past year when one of your videos popped up on my feed. Very helpful, and you guys are just lovely folks. Question: My husband and I (both seniors) will be using Eurail for our trains between cities and between Switzerland, Austria and Italy in August/September 2024. Our home base in Switzerland is most likely going to be primarily Interlaken (most likely Wilderswil). I know Interlaken has a card for folks who are staying there that will allow us to access the buses and museums, etc., which will help us get around. We will most likely have a few days trips to places like Bern, Lucerne, Lausanne. To supplement and allow us to gain access to gondolas and cogwheel trains, etc., which other pass would you recommend we obtain to help reduce our overall costs and allow us as much “ticketless” freedom as possible? We will be in the region for 7 days.
I would appreciate some advice. My wife and I are traveling to Switzerland in September 2023. We will be on a guided bus/train tour for eight nights beginning and ending in Zurich. After that, we want to take a train to the Berner Oberland region, staying five nights in Wengen. We will not need passes to travel to any other region on our own other than the Berner Oberland region. We will see the rest of Switzerland on the guided tour. I need some advice please on whether we should get from Zurich to Wengen (through Interlaken?) using the Half Fare Pass AND Top of Europe Pass or Half Fare Pass AND Berner Oberland Pass. We want to see Jungfraujoch, Schilthorn, Grindelwald, Gimmelwald, Murren, Lauterbrunnen and perhaps go on the Interlaken lakes. Thank you.
Please note the prices for adult 2nd class do change. At the moment 10th July 2023 looking at the site it is $575 USD - Adult selection using 2nd class for 15 days . Cheers :)
hello @TheTravelingSwiss; question should I buy 1st class Eurail pass if I do reservation for Bernina Express or can it be 2nd class? There is not choice in the webpage only Eurail pass thats it.
Hi Lex and Louis, thanks for doing these videos, they have been a great help for planning a trip in May. I have a question, I have 2 nights in Lucerne, 3 in Interlaken and 1 in Zermatt booked so far and could do another night. Would 2 nights in Zermatt be recommended or would you recommend Bern or somewhere else in west Switzerland. Might fly out of Geneva or Basel rather than Zurich. Mountain scenery would definitely be top of the list for things to see.
Does the Eurail pass cover any trains going from Zermatt to Geneva? And I know you mentioned the Eurail pass doesn’t cover any trains going to Zermatt, but wouldn’t the glacier express fit into that category that does? Would appreciate getting more info on this. Thank you!
To travel in Switzerland, the Swiss Travel Pass is preferable, which is valid on practically all or almost all railway lines, steamships, Postbuses, funiculars, etc. as well as on certain routes abroad such as, for example, the Italian section of the magnificent international narrow-gauge railway Domodossola - Locarno, the border sections Iselle transit - Domodossola, Pino transit - Luino as well as on the BERNINA EXPRESS summer bus that connects Lugano with Tirano and vice versa across Italy
From the moment you travel from a Europeanen home country to switserland and back you are already cheaper of with Interrail (= eurail) A return ticket from Belgium - Germany- Switserland or Belgium France Switserland is often more than €400 so that s why i never buy swiss pass. Good that some places offer guest passes for the local transport . Saas fee , Appenzell , unter engadin, Lucerne , Laveau ,….
Great video ❤ but I am still confused. We are travelling to france next year for 3 days and then Switzerland for 6 days (mainly staying in Interlaken and Zermatt for 6 days ) and then Italy for 5 days . I am thinking of buying 7 days flexible eurail pass and 6 days of Swiss travel pass . Please let me know if that seems to be efficient??
Hi there! We have a free tool on our website that helps select the pass that will work best for your itinerary, check it out! www.thetravelingswiss.com/free-train-pass-selector
I am in Hungary would like to visit Switzerland on April most probably with my 2 kids aged 5 and 10... my main visit point would be to the Lindt chocolate factory can you please suggest reasonable cost effective way ... how can i visit the chocolate factory and simultaneously get to view the natural beauty greenery and snow.
Love all your videos - you guys are so cute! Used all your advice on my trip to Bernese Oberland and Zermatt last summer. This summer I am travelling to Paris and Chamonix. Are there any passes to save on transportation and mountain lifts in those areas?
I am planning a family trip from London to paris, Switzerland and Italy planning for a Eurorail pass only as planning to travel swiss mostly by train will I require any other pass?
As far as Switzerland is concerned, the Swiss Travel Pass is valid on many more lines than the various Eurail and Interrail passes. For example, it is valid on all lines of the PostBus AG as well as on the most interesting paddle steamer lines (Lake of the Four Cantons, Lake Geneva, including the French Basin, and so on).
We are flying into Paris, staying 3 days then going to the jungrafu region of Switerland for 6 days and then traveling by train to Milan, in this case should we buy the euro rail and or the swiss half price fare or something else? I'm SOOOOOOOOOO confused!
Questions please, I know I have to do some seat reservations for some of my trips. Question when do I have to do the seat reservations. A day before a week before when exactly. Help please
Well, I wouldn't recommand a half fare card to an occasional tourist, as the order process for a swisspass can take up to 10 days and is meant for locals...
Hello Alexis and Louis, great job explaining the Eurail pass. I plan to be in the UK for my first let going into France before heading over to Switzerland. Does the pass include the UK and the Eurostart? Years ago, the UK was always separate from Eurail pass.
you should have what covered and what not covered list some time you said its covered everywhere and sometimes said "No" 😀, better clear on what are saying.
Thanks for the video from India. I was really looking for this info. I am travelling with family to paris, switzerland and italy. Also could you let me know if the eurail pass covers trains from zurich to interlaken and interlaken to zermatt.
There are a lot of places in Switzerland which can only be reached by bus. Eg the the very important mountain resorts of Saas Fee, Adelboden, Leukerbad, Lenzerheide and Flims. (I could go on for a very long time....) That fact, and the fact that the boats on all the main lakes are included, are COMPELLING REASONS to buy a Swiss Travel Pass. Put another way, the coverage of Eurorail pas and Interrail is inadequate.
Hi Guys ! Your videos is very helpful. But, I want to ask about the EurailPass. I have plan to visit Swtizerland and some countries in Europe on november this year, I want to book EurailPass. Can I use the Eurailpass through Uzwil-Zurich-Bern-Interlaken-Leuterbrunnen (round trip) ? Or Should I buy different train tickets? Thank you Guys !
Hi i just want to know if i board on sleeper trains and used eurail pass from point A to B. So it will be like using the pass at night it will use the next day pass? Because night time is until 12 only and it changes the day 12:01 so how does it work on night sleeper train?
Hi. Anyone can advice if a German Eurail Pass be used to cross over the border to Lucerne in Switzerland? Or do I need to buy a Eurail Global pass to do so? Thanks in advance!
Does SBB train serves me to travel from Vienna to Interlaken West Station? If not, what is the alternative train to take ? On SBB mobile, it says it takes 4 transfers and 10 hours 😢
We're traveling for two weeks- planning on train from Zurich to Thun, then using train around the Jungfrau area, then taking train to Florence. A week later we'll take a couple of italian trains. Does that seem like a good time to take Eurail?
Eurail was a nightmare for me. I am HANDICAPPED traveling alone. No one at any train station could help me with my issues. I started out ok but fell apart when I could not get the QR code for the individual tickets to generate. There is no one to call for help. No one in the train stations would help me.Unable to use the last two months of the pass. Forced to fly home at my expense from Poland on my tab. Major unexpected expense in the middle of my once in a lifetime vacation. Do not use Eurail. You maybe sorry like I was.
I will never buy Eurail pass again. Because: 1. You cannot select seats if you use their pass. System will randomly allocate seats. Four of us were allocated in different places. 2. If you buy pass from them the actual rail companies will deny to help you. 3. Their refund policy is not customer friendly. All most 100% sure, No Refund. 4. No phone no. to discuss your problems. 5. For any issue, their standard response " we are just intermediary, cannot help you. We have no control over rail companies". It's actually in their web page. 6. If you plan ahead you can get much better service form the rail companies directly almost at the same price. 7. Eurail pass eventually costs more or same because in most important routes you will have to pay for seat reservation additionally.
I am intending to visit Switzerland and Italy (Milan, Cinque Terre) in October. I am considering to purchase Swiss Travel Pass for the first 6 days of the trip where i will be staying in Zurich, Lucerne and Lauterbrunnen. On Day 7, I am planning to travel to Milan by train (either from Lauterbrunnen or Interlaken). There onwards, i am planning to stay in Milan for 3 nights, and return to Zurich on Day 10 from Milan. I was contemplating to get the Eurail pass to cover my train travels between Day 7 to Day 10. Based on your comments and especially point 7, do you have any tips that you can share? Especially if there are any alternatives to Eurail pass like "Italy Travel Pass"? I have researched online but the only thing that appears is the Eurail Italy Pass (which would have the same problem).
Your videos are very impressive & informative. I am going to travel to Swiss in next week. Is there any App that you can recommend to search for official public transportation information? Thanks.
You guys, if you're travelling Swiss, I guess that means you've travelled to other places too, other than Switzerland. Don't you find it monotonous to continually make videos about Switzerland alone while can actually talk about other counties you've visited before? Are you afraid to spice up your content? Please diversify the menu.
hi there! we love sharing Switzerland, and that's why most of our audience follows us, as they are planning trips to Switzerland. Not sure if you keep up with all of our videos, but 3 of our last 5 are videos about different places in France, and we have dozens of videos filmed in Italy, France, Germany, etc saved in a playlist. Cheers!
