I just got this vacuum, and it does not do well on low-pile carpet like an area rug. I guess because there is no roller, you are pushing the head against the carpet, and I felt almost no suction when I did this. It was also very difficult to push against the carpet and would sometimes sort of skip off of it. When I tried it on regular wall-to-wall carpet, it was better, though not great.
