can I change out the drill bits for non press in hinges?

Yes, I believe so. The carbide bits are available in different sizes, or you could just remove the 2 bits for the press hinges.

Recently bought a CMT orange 35mm router bit (looks similar as the one in your jig) and also get a lot of smoke when drilling a hole in melamine board.I use my router on lowest RPM, about 7K, but doesn't help much. Is this normal? I'm worried the heat will destroy an expensive router bit. I think I will just use it on my cheapo drill press

Your upgrades only work on one end of the door. What do you do to drill the other end?

I just remove the stop from the T-Track and turn it around and put it in the other side. Since I normally have 20-30 doors to bore, I'll go through and do all of one end, then move the stop and go through all of the other end.

Hey, do you think I can use the cmt system with just a cordless drill?

Technically I suppose you could. It has its own depth stop built in. You might get a little tired if you have lots of doors to do, but it should work. I just have mine mounted semi-permanently to an inexpensive bench top drill press.

At no point did you use the actual hinge boring jig which was the only reason to even click this video.
