Euro NCAP Crash Test of Dacia Logan MCV 2014 

For an entire year in 2017 I seriously considered buying this car, but opted against it after watching this crash test. Guess I would never place my family in that car. Greetings from Denmark...

Don't forget that the tested car here was a diesel, whereas the Sandero model was a gasoline engined vehicle. There is a significant weight difference between the two. I feel that the Euro NCAP tests should take that into consideration as well. Otherwise we're just testing boxes on wheels regardless of weight.

I think the Sandero was tested by older standards.

+adelin vasile true dat. real life experience is not the same as euro n cap tests. i had a friend with an Mitsunishi pajero who went into a wall with onlu 70 km/h and the engine almost killed him. u will not see such a thing in a dacia. never, ever. a saw some crazy accidents with dacia s and they were pretty safe trust me. ( i m a cab driver )

You should add +20 km/h and see the real difference, it'll be not 2%

The Mustang got a low rating because the tested model didn't have assisitve technology, which already meant that it could not receive above a 3-star rating to begin with. Besides, crash tests aren't all that meaningful because they crash the cars against their own weight. Crash a Mustang which weighs 600-700kg more head on with this Dacia, I think the results would be very conclusive as to who lives and who dies.

Don't be fooled by the same crash test speed. A car that has over 200 BHP, should be tested at higher speeds then a 75 BHP car. Look at the side pole test done at 32km/h for the Mustang. Then come back here and continue with your rant.

You can also buy used car and not trash piece of shit new car. I don't understand why would someone buy this over a used older car.

Because some people just do not have money to afford better luxury, better safety, better performance. And they have families to feed. All they can afford is a basic car. Dacia is bottom of the line, but still much more spacious, more utilitarian and more affordable than some cars made 20 years ago. Buying a used car may be an option if you know how to assess its condition and have good workshop to repair it in, but bear in mind that some people can barely afford a used Dacia. An Audi with 200tkm will still be out of reach for them.

You pay 200-300 euros a month for a food and other important things. So you can keep 100-150 euro a month. What options do you have to buy a car? Wait 20 years? No. You can collect near 2000 for a year or two and then get a credit. But for a used car you'll have near 40% credit rate. I am not joking, 40% per year! So you'll need like 30 years to pay for it. Or you can buy a Logan. It's a new car, so you'll have like 18% credit rate. Maybe even 16%. You've just saved like 10 years of your work. Now you understand?

+Melih E. Because the best car is a new car, or so some people believe. Most people who buy this car just buy it as a cheap run-around for the city. It's also perfect for a taxi. It's cheap to maintain, and it's new, so a taxi driver can drive it around happily for 10 years until he is required to replace it.

***** Doesn't matter. The Dacia still performs like absolute crap. It performs only slightly better than my 1996 Audi A4. A design that is 20 years old, and you can get a second hand A4 for less than 1000 euros in some cases, not 7000 euros like the Dacia. Not to mention build quality, comfort and extras. Dual zone climate control, a nice comfortable suspension, same chassis that was used for the performance RS4 and the interior doesn't squeak 20 years later. I've been in a Sandero and Logan. They are OK for the price point, but nothing compared to what you can get second hand for MUCH cheaper. Nab yourself a 15 year old Volvo S40 for half the price of a Sandero or Logan. You will be safe and secure, with a lot of luxuries and enough leftover cash to maintain the car for another 15 years.

They aren't made for the off-chance that you will get hit by a meteor or your way to the shops, or accidentally end up on the train tracks of the bullet train, heading in the opposite direction.

Actually, I came here after watching the Lada Granta crash test, and believe me, I rather preffer to crash in a Dacia than in a Lada.
