The Dacia Logan is a partner model to Sandero Stepway and their structure is practically identical. Euro NCAP compared both vehicles to verify that the Dacia Sandero Stepway results can be applied to Logan and performed additional tests where necessary. The footage includes video of the Dacia Sandero Stepway 2021 and additional Logan 2021 tests.
Euro NCAP performs a series of crash and safety tests on car models:
a frontal impact test, 50% of the width of the car is striking an oncoming deformable barrier, also travelling at 50 km/h
a frontal impact test, the car impacts a rigid full width barrier
a side impact test, a mobile deformable barrier impacts the driver's door
a pole test, the tested car is propelled sideways into a rigid pole.
A series of pedestrian tests are conducted with different impactors, adult and child head form, lower and upper leg form and whiplash tests are performed on a sled as well as AEB pedestrian and cyclist tests.
Active safety is tested based on the car’s equipment: autonomous emergency braking car-to-car scenarios, occupant status monitoring (including seatbelt reminders), lane support and speed assistance technologies.

The newly modified ranking is just absurd and biased. From what i understand until now they made an average between the scores from every category. But now they just take your minimum score from any class and set it as the general score. It's like having an A student in math, geography, history, literature and chemistry and D in Physical Education and they make the general grade D. While a student that has C in every class is a general C student. As i previous stated ... absurd.

It seems to perform pretty good for me. The cabin is not deformed after the impact. Not sure where the 2 stars come from. Maybe at least 3

@@giannisantypas9316 you're wrong. While the other scores were average, the pedestrian protection score was very low: 41%. If this last one would have been average, too, the car would have gotten a 3-4 stars rating. Yeah, indeed, this is defintely not a 5 star car...I'll give you that

It lacks knee airbags, AEB pedestrian, AEB bicycle, AEB reverse, adaptive cruise control, road sign recognition and lane keeping assist hence the 2 stars rating for 2021. In 2019 it would have received 4 stars but it's two years too late.

from press release: "radar-only autonomous emergency braking system reacts only to other vehicles - soon a legal requirement - but it is not designed to prevent crashes with pedestrians or cyclists and there is no lane support. However, crash protection is respectable, with performance that would make the car a four-star performer if it were not for its shortcomings elsewhere."

If they were to test McLaren F1 today, it would score 1 star or 0 stars. Despite having a super rigid carbon-fibre monocoque and central driver position. It just lacks air bags, has zero pedestrian protections, zero electronic aids (no cameras, no sensors, no automatic brakes)...

There is no camera in front, only radar, that's why it behaved poorly, but i am not buying a car to kill pedestrians or bike riders, so is good for me. :)

Once again - when euroncap invented, it was super good and essential, but to today, it has become more and more pointless electronic gizmos show. Why only two stars, it did not perform so bad? If you want to rate your electronic apps or games, make separate category, do not mess with real security that electronic mumbo-jumbo.

They’re built on the same platform. That’s why they’re using the Sandero Stepway. When they did the safety test of the Audi A7, they used the A6, cos they were based on the same platform.

@@axxisblack no, dacias arent sold in the us, so you cant look at those tests. Also european standards are higher than american, so it would not be surprising if it scored 3 in the us test. NHTSA is the federal goverment test which is standard, but very weak. Many poor safety cars are often scored 4 or even 5 stars!! Crap points system and crap agency, for true test look Europeans, EURO NCAP.

I want a car that protects me in a impact above 90 km/h and from roll-overs not getting "points" for having stickers for retards to read on how to use a car. Also the real protection matters not artificial intelligence of collision prevention, that's why it's a crash test not a pre-crash test

@@giannisantypas9316 ever wondered what those 5 stars mean? well, 0% to 100%, and that means 0-20% for 1 star of rating, 20-40% for 2 stars, 40-60% for 3 stars, 60-80% 4 stars, 80-100% 5 stars... Of the thest was based just on adult protection, the new dacia would have been rated with 4 stars.. for the cheapest (not toy sized) car in the europe, i think it's worth it. when you buy a car you think about what happens with you in a crash, not a pedestrian.

Correct! I think less features is what makes Dacias super cheap. When the Logan first came out in 2004, it was only around €4000, cos it had no electric windows, no central locking, no power steering and no radio.

It has only 2 stars because it's lacking some automated safety features like lane assist and some automated breaking shits. With the stats it has now,if the car was tested last year or two years agi, it would have 3 to 4 stars. For a low cost cars is pretty safe and for that price with every feature available, it is still a best buy. Why? Because wireless android auto, the keyless go system that even some mid range to premium cars don't have it, the engine gas+gpl,the gearbox with 6 speeds and the space you have in the car. There is no other new car in this price range that has all of the above....
