Hi Andy, I've had a thought that you might want to explore. Your website shop sells the packs but we all lose flies on snags. There is no mention on the site on how to acquire just individual flies or a pack of one pattern, if that is possible e.g. by dropping you an email, it might be good if you mentioned it on a future video as a visitor to your webshop only sees buying the whole kit again.

Good to see you back on the water Andy. It's been a brutal winter here as well. Tons of snow, with long stretches of sub-zero temperatures. I got so desperate I tried ice fishing haha! I finally did get to one of my favorite pools on the Kenai and caught only one fish. A 26-inch rainbow! I can certainly live with that. The fly I used is similar to your deep purple except the collar is a UV pearl, in size 14. I've been tying these for a few years and in the late winter or early spring, we have many very small stoneflys. At this stage, there are mostly pupas stuck on the rocks.

Tough day - much more instructive for us viewers than an easy day - seeing frequent changes of fly teasing some takes, when to fish squirmy, many other great tips. Whatever you were wearing under that orange jacket, it must have had some remarkable insulation. Excellent video as always, Andy!

With this style of fishing, there's little benefit to blending in. If they can't see a squirmy at 12 inches then they can't see me from 20 feet 😂

Lovely video Andy! I usually find that 30 minutes plus is way too long for a RU-vid video but watched all of that with pleasure. Have you done/will you do a video about the Euronymph setup with the pack you sell? I think it is a bit of dark art for some of us newbies and it would be great to learn more about controlling the depth etc and buy one of your packs of course!

Great to see you out on the river again. I noticed that one of the rods you were using was a Shakespeare Oracle II. I haven't fished one as yet but I have handled one (10ft 4wt) at Sportfish and I think they represent exceptional value for money. I wonder if you might be able to do a review video to give your opinion?

Good information Andy on why you were changing tactics/ flies, do you prefer the Squirmy on the point or dropper?

Thanks Peter! I'll often have it on the dropper, I find they'll move for that big meal in a way they sometimes won't for a smaller conventional nymph. I think for the last fish it was on the point as it was lighter than the other fly, I much prefer it this way round under a bung 👍

Live upstream nymphing and mending. Euro nymphing is not really fly fishing for me; so little casting! Have heard horror stories of people who can’t cast yet represent their country in international competitions. There is more to fly fishing than catching fish at any cost. Love your videos but euronymphing is a huge turn off for me. 20 years ago, it was called Czech nymphing….

This definitely isn't Czech nymphing bud, fishing at much greater range than that, a very different method. Upstream nymphing would be lovely, but in cold, high rivers like this, it'll be very ineffective. Each method has it's place 👍

Thanks for the reply. I see little difference between the two styles. It’s getting the flies down very deep within a couple of Rod lengths of where the angler is standing. There is little or no casting. I appreciate that stealth is required, and it is a skill in itself. But without the casting, it is aesthetically unappealing.
