I've recently been working on my Euro Nymphing technique and having some success with it, despite my relative inexperience. It's a fun way to fish and definitely productive, particularly for bigger fish and for deeper faster water when the sun is up and the fish are hiding down in the depths.
On this day I'm joined by a good mate Phil from the Sydney Flyrodders. Phil is an excellent dry fly angler, so he is targeting the top layer of the water column and any trout that can be sight fished, while I'm focusing more on reading the water and covering the likely trout lies thoroughly with weighted nymphs.
The Snowy Mountains can be a tough fishery at times, but this particular trip provided reasonably good fishing for me each day, although we did have to work hard to catch them. It's such a magnificent place though that I just love coming here, regardless of whether the fishing is tough. I'll be back here again next year to my favourite NSW trout river.
I've deliberately not named the river in this video as it already receives a fair amount of pressure, so if you recognise it (which I imagine some you might) please refrain from naming it in the comments. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy this! :)
