Summary of the whole talk is that: Europeans have categorized societies of the past according to their own limited studies of themselves and that's why their arguments are not entirely accurate. if you pursue reality, then you have to make a through investigation including eastern sources before arriving at conclusions about the societies of the past.

Eurocentrism is prevalent because other societies lack strong social critiques or social sciences. One needs to ask how many Chinese, Arab, Japanese, or Indian scholars truly, logically, humanely critique traditional perspectives such as Buddhism, Hinduism, or Islam. The mindsets in these societies remain stagnant for centuries. Consequently, European liberal (freedom-oriented) perspectives have become central in the world. I would like to see a Japanese philosopher who is humanely critical of traditional values because they have the economic or political capacity to do so. Then people might make a a shift from a Eurocentric world to a more balanced perspective over time.
