Oh yeah, not even done watching yet but that slowmo replay told the tale. Your missile came off the rail stupid & just flew a straight course to, like, I dunno, Alpha Centauri?()? but Longshot just HAPPENED to fly right into it! Holy shit, that was the ultimate kinetic kill. 💥🤛😅
RIGHT IM GOING TO PAINT 🎨............What's gong on in my head IS My TWO BUDDIES G.SideWinder And Longshot are going FCUKINGGGGGGG HEAD TO HEAD ..... WITH 2 OF THE BEST 4'TH GEN FIGHTERS ON THE PLANET!! The Typhoon ...... And Yes the FA-18 was built in the 1970's ...BUT NOT this one THIS is A SUPER HORNET.... As the 2000 Eurofighter ( TYPHOON ) Protects me.. like you live in the states its the F-22 NOW we have F 35 B's.... but the main fighter is the Typhoon and for the Navy its the Super Hornet ONE of my Fav Fighters ever ... i am 0:25'seconds in , now i know who is flying what, Longshot the typhoon ( side Note i asked him yesterday to pls do a typhoon for me and he was so nice but knew this was coming and we had a good laugh longshot is a cool dude man ) Right i cant wait any more THANK YOU SO SO SO MUCH....COME ON TYPHOON
Who else is vibing off the music during the replay cuts? Chills like when John Wick is drilling holes in all the bad guys at the Red Circle Club in the first movie. Nicely done whomever is producing the vids for Growling.
lolol thanks buddy, I appreciate that a lot, also, I'm making the videos lol, I fly, I record, I edit, I choose the music. There is no one editing my videos for me.
@@GrowlingSidewinder Nice to hear. Your production values are very good, if not excellent. Your cutting down on Tac View except for when it is a necessary lesson that needs highlighting has really streamlined your watch-ability over the entire vid. That and your cheeky takes on titles like the "Two Idiots" series. My better half is a gorgeous blonde that stopped to watch one day because of your exploits with Longshot while learning to fly helicopters in DCS. The genuine laughter between the both of you had her hooked and now when she hears your or Longshots voice being streamed through the media room or other televisions here, she smiles and says, "Good find. What is Growling up to this time?" She's even learned the lingo and counts whether you go left or right after slinging AMRAAMs and then into a descending offset. "He's left handed, most of the time that is his offset." I argue that you are right eye dominant and that is why.
amazing, always super cool to hear these stories, I'm serious when I say thank you for sharing these are the kinds of comments that anyone would love to read, be sure to thank her as well on my behalf sounds like you got yourself a special lady there.
@@privatelisting366 Wow thats a great comment! as GS said, thank her for me as well, You made my day buddy! thats exactly what i was hoping for you guys that watch my videos. You two are awesome, Cheers!
@@GrowlingSidewinder Made her day too! Me : "Growling AND Longshot responded to our post about you loving the dynamic between them when they fly DCS." Her : "No! Really?" (Big smile on her face as she read your words) "Those guys are so funny! So smart and talented and brave enough to do the Two Idiots thing to make me laugh. I can't believe they responded!" She danced off to the den to look at your merch stores after that. Thanks guys for making her feel special for being a fan! Edit : She just bought herself a "Russian To Get You" T shirt size small in tahiti blue (she said it matches the interior on their (russian) jet cockpits. "The girl looks like me too!" Yup it does. ;P
never realised the damage modeling was so precise. The explosions always looked canned to me, but this level of detail is amazing. Flaps, pieces of stabilisers...that's great stuff.
There is an written interview on the web somewhere with a USMC exchange pilot with the RAF who flew Typhoon (and who was an F18 instructor previously) advising that in a dogfight the F18 has an initial chance due to its high alpha (as shown in this video) but after that if you wanted to see the Typhoon all you had to do was look behind you. This suggests to me that the Typhoon has been handicapped a bit in the DCS modelling as turning performance appeared very similar in the video (as opposed to real life performance suggested by the article).
Frisian flag 2012 exercises in Holland, Finnish F-18Cs gets 100 kills and 6 loses against Eurofighter (Germany, UK), Polish new F-16 and older F-16 planes (Norway, Belgium) and Gripen. The kill ratio is about 16:1 in favor of Finland's F-18C. Finland's F-18C variant has beyond 45 degrees AoA that is higher than USN/USMC's F/A-18C's 45 degrees AoA. Swiss F-18C has up to 9G with beyond 45 degrees AoA.
I heard that Switzerland is waiting for you to compare the F-35, Rafale, Typhoon and Super Hornet before they make a decision on which jet to puchase ;)
Quick story about why this is the coolest plane I ever worked with, The British Royal Air Force had a squadron out where I was working, and when they would take off they would be just off of the deck with the nose pitched slightly up like a wheelie. I asked one of the pilots why and he said "Because if I didn't I would be supersonic before I hit the end of the runway." By the way it was only a 9,000 foot runway. They are so cool, thanks for coming to my ted talk! :D
@@radfahrer875 BVM or keeping the dogfight going vertical. Edit - In this video you see how longshot would hold his plane above their nose. Stuff like that. Using that small altitude advantage to beat their agility.
@@Ep1cSh0tz1 That's what I tought but then Longshot dropped the nose occasionally entering the "toilet bowl" that kept me wondering... Same with the MiG-29, the MiG could climb over the Hornet anytime but I rarely see that ability employed for some reason.
Longshot at 11:56: "I'm tired of flying circles around that F-18. Let's turn into his HUD to give him a chance !" Also the first engagement was very impressive from EF. Instead of merging, Longshot decided to turn in front of you, showing his 6 when he was 45° up front of you and afterwards still did like a 160° turn...
@@davidsmith8997 ... which means no Raptor pilot would enter a rate-fight with a EuroFighter. They'd stay 1-Circle and do as they please, and even HOBS Fox-2s won't help the EF then. What makes the Raptor so dominant is it doesn't have any weaknesses. It has a lower IR sig, a lower RCS, a higher turn-rate, and can get nose on much quicker in a 1-Circle. EF was a jobs program for European aerospace engineers, just like the SEPCAT/Jaguar, and the Tornado. The best Tornado is the Viper. Seriously. Look at the design goals of the Tornado and look at the performance of the Viper & Sufa. Designing by committee just takes too long and therefore, costs too much.
@@roijoi6963 ...which means absolutely nothing in relation to dcs... because he was talking about the HORNET. Why do raptor fanboys have to defend their plane so aggressively? The raptor was built to be a dogfighter, and with thrust vectoring it can do the fancy airshow moves the su 35 can (that f15 pilots say are useless... guess they've never flown with thrust vectoring in a dogfight, or been against a raptor). The fact that the eurofighter can keep up with a f22 in a dogfight says a TON about the eurofighter. Its also the only fighter known to do so. BVR doesnt matter at fucking all here. Not to mention the irst can easily track stealth aircraft, which was also proven by F14D tests where it got a lock on a raptor from quite far away using its irst, according to navy tests ;)
From a "close personal contact" current in the Typhoon, they "love" playing with Hornets....... The "key" point does come back to Pilot skill's and time / training on the airframe (Their words not mine)
Yeah, i would think that a typhoon kicks the hornets ass in irl. In the end in comes down to wich pilot can use the capabilities of their machine the best.
I can believe that. Most sources seem to suggest that aerodynamically the Typhoon can do everything the F-15 and F-16 can do better than they can but the slow speed/high alpha performance of the F/A-18 is the one part of the teen-series flight envelope that Typhoon can't match.
@@zhufortheimpaler4041 Sorry it it wasn't clear but I was only talking about flight performance in a standard air-air configuration for Typhoon and the F-15, F-16 and F/A-18.
@@Akm72 There is an interview with a US Hornet pilot somewhere online who did an exchange with the RAF on Typhoon. He said that the only way a Hornet would win is if the Typhoon made a mistake and tried to go slow/high AOA with a Hornet. In all other engagements it wasn't even close, particularly as the Hornet is well known for losing energy at a rapid rate in any turning fight, whereas Typhoon could be accelerating and regain energy in turning fights.
I’ve seen the AIM-9M in the Tomcat act that way once. It was 1500ish feet off the rail against a hornet which was closing on me (DCS). The missile probably had less than 1000ft to arm.
@Fire_ESP No a helicopter is a helicopter and it does not just move vertically. A missile uses a rocket propulsion system along with fins and a guidence system therefore known as a missile, as for the me163, that was a rocket plane. A rocket is a method of propulsion in the same way a jet engine is a method of propulsion, eventhough missile is called a missile it still is and works as a ROCKET.
@Fire_ESP what are you talking about my guy? Rockets must carry their own oxygen with them for combustion, planes use an engine… you’re cracking me up here
Retired by the USA maybe. Here in Australia, the Super Hornet is still king of our skies and seas. I think the Canadians have similar separation anxiety with the F/A 18 and have kept it, rather than forking out for the -Dud35- err F-35 Lightning.
@@Raz.C Im not referring fo the Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet. McDonnell Douglas built the F/A-18 Hornet (Legacy Hornet). I think The Block 3 Super Hornet will be active in US NAVY for decades longer. So yeah, 2 different aircraft, mate. Cheers
@@Raz.C yea nah m8, legacy hornet is referred as a/b and c/d variants of the hornet, the super hornet, is the newer, bigger, more aggressive e/f variant, while the electronic warfare variant is the g, also called growler. fun fact, the super hornet, is also called rhino for carrier ops with both super and legacy hornets
@@datutturugang666 Dude, when you say "Yeah" and "Nah" in the same sentence, immediately after each other, then I don't know if you're trying to say "Yes," or if you're trying to say "No." In the interests of clarity and of 'meaning what you say,' please choose either "Yeah" OR "Nah" and go with it. I don't understand what your comment has to do with my comment. I'm Australian, so I'm aware that Australia uses the Super Hornet. The last time I heard about Canadian military aircraft, I remember some officer or politician saying that Canada no longer wants to buy F-35s and would rather get Super Hornets to replace their legacy F-18s. It's all there in my comment. Right next to the part where I ask people to explain things to me that I already know. No... Hang on... It turns out that I DIDN'T ask people to repeatedly explain things to me that I already know.
I suspect another 2-6 months before the Heatblur Eurofighter. As to how the fight will go against the HB Typhoon - especially if it comes with the IRIS-T, ASRAAM, and Meteor missiles - the trick will be force the Typhoon to overdo his AoA in the initial merge or one of his turns and it will make him quickly bleed speed to the point the Hornet MIGHT have a chance.
I love your videos! I am a huge fan of what you do and you make great content. The fights with Long Shot are truly spectacular. I’d love to see tackveiw debriefs with the two of your together after a fight.
Really enjoy watching. I have been following for a few months. I was in the Corps, so of course I am biased towards the 18s. We had the for CAS missions on several occasions in theatre. Would love to see more ATG missions. Finally, would love to see you in an FA-18 v Viper. Usually its the other way around. Cheers
I've been starting to watch a lot more of your video's, quiet enjoying them, although seeing you angle/merge before cockpits pass each other gives you a little more of an advantage, not that one jet might be better than the other no matter what. But thanks for the video's its making me more and more to want to buy a Hotas setup, so I can play some DCS.
Awesome video! Sure glad this type of fight between two of my most favorite fighters, the Hornet and the Typhoon didn't happen in person because I'd hate to see either of them destroyed! But Red On Blue at Red Flag or on DCS is a different story this is awesome! Thanks for the upload.
Incredible 5 round bout! I saw someone comment about having the Rafale and Typhoon have it out just like you did the Raptor and Felon back then, and i second the motion 😁😁
Bruh, this Eurofighter looks so intimidating to dogfight against it, its maneurable but also manages too good its energy while sukhois become a mid air floating target when doing all these "supermaneurability" BS. (Yes, I know this Eurofighter is a mod)
Round 4 looked like the Euro lost its aileron which would have rendered it pretty much useless and the fact that it still won that round is a little strange
I was talking to a member of the RAF and they told me that GB will be decommissioning the Typhoon from the AirForce and replacing them with F35’s, so the only use the Typhoons will have is in AirShows like what the Hawk-T1 for the Red Arrows
That member was drunk. RAF is going to purchasing/upgrading Typhoon to tranche 4 and the Tranche 4 will be the best 4.5 gen aircraft in the world. Easy.
You have a lot of great content brotha.....plan on having fun creating DCS vids very soon! Appreciate all the work that goes into your vids! Cheers and Subbed ya!
Not sure if that landing looked like me playing Ace Combat, except for the exploding bit at the end, or me playing War Thunder including the exploding bit at the end, but it was certainly a landing I've made before.
in 2003 Poland contracted F-16Cs and F-16Ds with USA over Eurofighter Typhoon, from EU. I would like to see BVR and dogfight of these (F-16C or F-16D) vs Eurofighter Typhoon. Which is better?
