And I hope you also bring a fire that we have been missing in Europe for a long time. We all got drunk on our success when we 'won' the cold war. Blind to the shortcomings of the hyper capitalism we were trapped in and it's pitfalls. We need the fire again to fight for the rights of workers, consumers, citizens and more. To have culture, literature, civility and more taught in schools once more instead of having them be boot camps to produce obedient worker drones. Europe is more than just it's economy and it's roots as an economic alliance means we have to be vigilant that the economy doesn't subsume society any more than it already has. Now to be clear I am not anti-EU. But I believe freedom, democracy, prosperity and civilization is not a goal to be reached, it's something we need to actively maintain. Otherwise it will be taken away from us rather that is by ultra rich oligarchs, political scheming, radical groups or foreign powers. I look at America and just how hard many are fighting against the tide of fascism there. We need that same fighting spirit in Europe as well. Prosperity is created by the people and if the people don't fight to defend it then it will be taken from them.

The new Goths trying to cross the Roman border. Euromaidan was unfortunately an unrealistic Cargo Cult festival that did not lead to Ukraine ascending to the EU. Ukraine is not even considered for membership, and there is literally a war in that country. It is also the poorest country in Europe.

But as Europeans we also need to evolve ourselves. The EU was founded on the neo-liberalism of Reagan and Thatcher but that has by now proven to be a disaster. We need to free ourselves from this yoke of worshipping capitalism. Admit that we made a mistake bulldozing capitalism in favor of hyper-capitalism and that we should have been more weary of the shortcomings of capitalism and done more to accommodate for them. We should never be blinded by our faith for capitalism and always look for ways to improve it to allow prosperity in Europe to last. I think we need a return of state industry to produce neccecary goods like furniture, vehicles and other things people NEED. Private firms can exist as well but we need both public and private options to prevent price gauging. We need strong consumer and privacy protection laws. We need exit taxes to keep companies in the union. I think we also need an EU funded and managed social media site that is specifically designed to promote intelligent and civil debate. Sites like Facebook, Twitter and Tiktok are designed specifically to avoid this. As the EU we made a big mistake at the fall of the Soviet Union and allowed ourselves to stagnate. We can't allow that, prosperity is not reached and that's that. Prosperity and democracy takes active effort to maintain. We also need to learn to get off our high horse. Europe is not the superpower it once was so we need to stop with the constant sanctions. We need to start making friends. Like Brazil who is struggling with it's social programs, the EU could agree to bankroll it. That would get us a lot of friendship from Brazil. We also need to apply our own philophy to this and not tie them into actual debt. We just should give and trust them that they will give back.

Very well said. For some reason, I haven't watched this video before. Now I watched it and it raises a lot of feelings. What the Ukrainians have been forced to experience since this video was made, is something that is just quite difficult to understand, an enormous sacrifice. If this sacrifice doesn't pay off, Europe has failed. For now, the EU should do everything it can to make sure, Ukraine has it's freedom. I hope to see Ukraine part of the EU as soon as possible. The day that happens will be glorious. United Europe is definitely something we should aim for. I truly hope, we can get the Russians along some day. For that to happen, the current regime has to fall and those responsible for the war should be convicted. Also, quite a lot of democratization is needed. All that is possible but patience is needed.

I also feel it has waken up Europe from 30 years of stagnation after the fall of the Soviet-Union. We need to continue this to dismantle neo-liberalism that is allowing poverty to return to areas where it was wiped out before and that is destroying our culture and heritage for the sake of short term profit for billionares. I am hoping at least some of the energy of Ukraine will blow to the rest of Europe. Cause we have a lot to do to bring back democracy as it's been eroded more and more to cut taxes for the rich and deny services to the poor which has caused skyrocketing inequality. We need to make sure housing, food, water, medical care, a living wage and so on become human right in Europe. That's how Europe can live up to the ideals it promises. Having graphs go up on a spreadsheet is nice but what truly makes prosperity is the people and how they are living and right now it's clear capitalists are squeezing Europe dry to go from 10 times more money than kney know what to do with to 10.000 times.
