Alt Shifts latest video on "The Real Jon Snow" is incredible and truly shows the differences in writing between the show and books

To be fair season 7 already had the consistency of diarhea. And no Euron was a garbage one dimensional character with nothing of his book character aside from pirate.

Never forget that Euron’s actor, Pilou Asbæk, knew all about Euron and was excited to play him in the still insanely popular tv show. And then he was given off-brand Jack Sparrow.

This man is like if you combined Konrad Curze and Erebus and then dropped them in a fantasy setting.

this is 40k levels of extreme.. so basically this guy would be a champion of all the chaos gods except nurgle

I think Euron might end up being the Lorgar of this story, unknowing puppet of drowned god about to summon him at his own peril while jump starting the new era of magic, gods and horrors.

Considering how you discovered the differences between the show and the books with this video Alt Shift X's "The Real ..." videos would probably be great follow ups to this (thought they are rather long)

Its funny too that the Dragon Horn may not actually control Dragons, because Winter too has a Horn from Beyond the Wall and its missing. When blown, the Wall will come down. Its also theorized that Azhor Azai, the one who ended the Long Night wielded a "sword" Lightbringer. A sword that may very well have been a Dragon.

I can't confirm this, but I feel like there were going to be far more moving parts in later books and a dark rebirth of high fantasy for the world after an age where it hid or decayed on the fringes. Rather like Beserk with more factions at play. The Titan of Bravos walking again, ancient magics being marshalled, the Night King marching south to do actual damage, the remaining Children of the Forest coming our of hibernation, whisperings or even new rumblings out of the old parts of the world like Valyria and Asshai. And the idea of an ice lich with an ever growing army competing with an eldritch anti-christ to destroy the world is.... spicy. Or if they ally as this theory video posits, death, ice, and water seeking to cover the world vs the Fiery life of high flying dragons. Even early in reading the books, I felt sure that the Walkers would do battle with Dragons at the climax. They are antithetical creatures to each other. The Walkers are dark cold death, and the Dragons are about as close to the embodiment of fire given life as a creature can be, bringing light and heat wherever they go. They can't share a continent, or possibly even an entire world. Though of course, a Kraken as the embodiment of the deep dark ocean is also pretty antithetical to Dragons. And Euron might find himself as the direct opposition of Azor Ahai if the prophesized figure is all they're cracked up to be and truly come to exist. Side note, the visual formatting of Alt Shift X is quite nice.

@34:44 "But... We'll have to wait for the next book to see what happens next..." What a nice, roundabout way of saying we'll NEVER know, since G.R.R. Martin seems determined to write everything BUT the Winds of Winter until he kicks the bucket. In the 13 years since A Dance With Dragons came out, Martin has written and published more words than the entire 5 books in the Song of Ice and Fire series combined, yet we still have no 6th book because all of that work he did was for other stuff. At this rate, it seems likely that the only way Winds of Winter will be finished is if Martin's estate hires someone to finish the series like Robert Jordan's did with The Wheel of Time. In that case, if we're lucky we might get to see book 6 finished and published by the time the 2040s roll around.

Love that you reacted to more of Alt Shift X videos, I would also really reccomend his "The real X" character videos, specially his the real Jon Snow and the real Tyrion, they both do amazing job at showing how badly the show bastardized many characters in the books.

You might want to read The Forsaken, the sample chapter from Winds of Winter that is about Euron. Its really overwhelming when you first read it. The imagery is amazing. Btw, before The Forsaken, this eldritch apocalypse god thing was just a fan theory by PoorQuentyn who wrote a big essay about how Euron is more than just a cocky ironborn. Very niche theory and this man was vindicated when GRRM read out The Forsaken which confirmed basically the whole theory.

I would highly recommend Black Sails to you if you haven’t already seen it It’s basically a prequel to “Treasure Island” and combines that with an admittedly romanticized take on the Golden Age of Piracy. Definitely a fun ride and a must-see

The fact that you liked Euron in the show which you seem to express at the start fucking boggles my mind. In the books he’s this super interesting dark torturous guy who’s not not some basic horns bad guy like the show made him. In the shows his character was ruined so I’m so shocked you liked his portrayal lol. They ruined 90% of all book content or didn’t even include it after s4 Just saying. I can link some more videos on the changes on things like the Dorne arc which is actually good in the books as well as another Euron vid and maybe some on Tywin.

I am reading a fanfiction about what if danmachi's setting Orario is suddenly throw in to game of thrones. I wonder what the author is going to do with Euron and how he will react to meeting actual gods.

i hated the narrator for the books too AT FIRST, now? he's my favorite narrator ever... RIP roy dotrice. ( small fact - the pyromancer tyrion gets the wild fire from in the show was the narrator for the book series. )

I don't know, season 8 of GoT was pretty rough, but things had kind of been going downhill, and there are some severe disappointments to compete with. Like hoping 2021 would be release us. Or the Halo show. Or the Artemis Fowl movie which... mmmm... I could go into detail if I could remain coherent through the rage.
