Bring a portable charger!
Quick room check before you leave your room! Always double-check!
Download the maps app in your city, as you may not have wifi while travelling
Print a hotel/hostel list for all places you are staying!
Ask in tourist areas (restaurants) if they have a surcharge. A lot of places will either have a tip system or Surcharge for example (15 euro to eat) at Restaurants
They will charge you for the bread on the table if you eat it
Don't accept free bracelets - mainly in France

My ankles and feet were exactly the same on my Contiki! It was very embarrassing when I struggled to get on my strappy heels on a night out hahah!

Contiki flu… yes, yes and YES. I was in America and that is still the sickest I have ever been in my life. Not. Exaggerating. Highly recommend eating lots of fruits, vegetables and juices before you go. Take vitamins… hell… even get one of those vitamin drips. It’s something that keeps coming back throughout the trip, like a roller coaster. Some days you are 100%, next just death warmed up. And you have to still travel. I had the bad pressure headache for days, nearly fainted, mass sweats. Friend had to go to hospital at one of our stops because she was so bad. And that was in America with their health care, can imagine how sick she was to risk that bill 🤕.

Great video! Did you prefer travelling on your own or Contiki? I know they are two very different experiences but I'm curious to know if you still got a good taste of culture and had some flexibility when travelling through Contiki.

very different experience I still loved traveling with a group i just wouldn't do such a long contiki again. I do feel you do alot more activities with contiki and see everything at a fast pase. I definitely think contiki good if you are travelling by yourself. If you have friend you could go by yourself.

Hey! Love your video, it’s super helpful! Were Contiki really fussy on luggage size? (Not weight) I have a bag that is like 2cm too big and I’m worried!

Hey, thanks for watching I'm glad it was helpful! tbh they didn't care that much about size in Europe they did weigh my bag so they cared more about keeping it under i think it was 22kgs but when I did one in other countries like USA and nz they did not weigh my bag at all. :)

I find it ridiculous that they expect a tip being an Australian/NZ company with majority Australian travellers who aren't accustomed to tipping and have paid a pretty hefty amount to do the tour to begin with. It's not like the US where the servers are being paid $2 an hour, the guides make a base salary of about $50k for working six months of the year apparently. Say you have a 30 day trip and all 50 travellers tip 2 euro per day, that's an extra 3k euro which is almost $5k Australian. Pretty easy money for doing what they're actually paid to do to begin with. It's not like they're volunteers 😞

I know crazy money hey! I was pretty shocked when i found out contiki should really pay them better wage and withdraw the tip! .It's unfair as everyone has already paid so much to do this trip as well as contiki would make a % from company they do add ons at and bring us to night clubs and what not..... I have a 12 day contiki for end of Jan and now I feel Put off by going. I have a terrible bladder and I read you can't use the toilet on the bus which is total bs if that's true I'm paying all this money I will be using their toilet!!

you can do number 1 it's number 2's that you arent supposed to do and it's not just a contiki thing it's a coach thing, imagine being stuck on a bus all day with someone whose taken a dump - would stink the whole bus out. + in Europe because of the strict laws the bus drivers have to have a break about every 2 hours so there are plenty of opportunities to go to the toilet

I went with a company called travelmoore it was through contiki or a travel agent :) contiki sorted by vista in europe

Do you know anything about TopDeck? I'm tossing up between Contiki Europe and Top Deck Europe, but more leaning towards Contiki because it seems like more of a fun party vibe.

sorry i don't know anything about top deck as i haven't travel with them, Contiki is deffs party vibe for 18-25 i feel and top deck is more easy pace and mid twenty vibe. :)

Thank you for this!! I’m going on a contiki through Europe in a couple weeks for 19 days. Question - did you tip the driver and the guide? Were they somewhat annoyed that it wasn’t what they were expecting? And is it when the tour has ended?

Hi Stace, Thank you for watching the video & commenting. So you did then at the end of the trip, they give you envelope & review booklet to fill out. They could of been annoyed but I wouldn't of know and it shouldn't matter...bc you may never see them again. Just tip what you want to tip. They won't find till you've already finished the trip x

Do you think contiki would be possible as a vegan? In basically every video I've watched the restaurants are serving animal products.

could be done, but definitely would be very hard to get some yummy options! But there were quite a few vegos on my trip! :)

Vegan is more about europe as opposed to Contiki itself

Would you say 18 is too young for a contiki tour?

I wouldn't say its too young, but may be restricted to places in aus, but in europe should be fine. A lot people on tour's were ages 18-25 I would say as the main target

Girl since when is europe warm and people with gorgeous brown skin um no and you're Australian it should be obvious 🤣 I'm South African and cannot handle European winters especially when anything below 20C is cold for me
