You just made my discover more songs to listen to from my heroes from the lovely 1980s. Thanks! And great guitar work. You've played all the time since seven?
Hey, what a cool comment! I grew up in the 80s and this is also childhood sentiment for me. When I heard the solo in The Final Countdown by John Norum (I was 5 or so) I knew I wanted to play guitar. My dad played a few chords and taught me A, D and E. In the 40 years that I have been playing, I have had 1 year of lessons where I learned, among other things, the pentatonic scale. I learned the rest old-school by ear with a lot of destroyed cassette tapes and determination. 😂 Thanks for the nice comment. Rock on!
@@guitarhilley The Final Countdown is one of the most successful songs of all time. Wherever you go, people of all ages recognise that song. It was my parents who bought the cassette-not me-on a family trip with all of us driving through Sweden in 1986. Us kids in the back and my father "DJing" with his box of tapes in the front passenger seat. I played the piano as a kid, but when I first time got my hand on a Yamaha DX7, which had presets close to the TX-816 (and Roland JX-8P) from the track, that was the first riff I played. It just came straight out of my head. Cool dad you had/have! Mine taught me lots about music. I drove him nuts with Beat It recorded multiple times on the same cassette side - I just blasted the stereo with that song over and over. Did the same with Eye Of The Tiger, maybe even more 😁 Keep playing! (And teach your kids!)
