I think the volunteer forces that has allowed our forces more intense training for longer periods time. Draftees had to stay in the army for 2 years. Now volunteers sign up from 2 to 6 years depending on their job, MOS. I would think our soldiers now are far more motivated than draftees. Personally, I’m very grateful and proud of our military. Politicians screw up and start wars but it is our military that has to clean the mess. We Americans argue over everything but maintaining our military at the ready is not something citizens gripe about. Despite all the negatives coming from a faction in this year’s election, you can be assured that Americans treasure our freedom and yours. We defend democracy everywhere. We love our troops. They are the best of us all.

If there was ever an invasion, people could gather together in some of the homes and form 24 hour patrols. Working hours are only 26% of the week. You need a team to keep alert at all times. I'm thinking get a block of 10-12 houses and get at least 40 people who can shoot. They would work shifts. One house with 4 hunters will topple eventually. The country is big enough that sections not currently being invaded can form groups like this beforehand. Some women would be fit for patrol duty, but nearly all are fit for grocery duty. A militia must be fed. Children can learn as they go, and perform some minor lookout duties, wake people for shifts, stuff like that. I'm sure there are other things that come up. Everyone will need to pitch in to make it work. You would also want to coordinate with other blocks. Facebook could be utilized for this. You want to know if the invaders are coming from the east or the south. Very important to know where and when.

There's a story about the F22 in Iran. The Iranian Air Force was tracking a US Drone, getting ready to engage with two or three planes. While obtaining a radar lock on the drone, the F22 pilot ended the engagement with four words by coming right up behind them undetected and simply saying over the radar "You should go home"

US military spending is why the world now has PCs, cell phones, GPS, microwaves and a bunch more modern tech.
@dead-claudia
@dead-claudia 3 месяца назад
gps was literally originally a military system. the modern internet was originally a hybrid military-academic partnership. large scale long-range wireless connectivity was pioneered in the us military. modern computing owes its early existence to modern cryptography, and modern cryptography came about due to the west's need for extreme secrecy (and the fact they at the time just figured out how to break almost all prior forms of encryption). and the list goes on.

Unfortunately a lot of our sacrifice is our family. I am disabled but I would give a lot to get back time with my kids. And my son in law gets very little time with his kids even though he is out of the service now. His job is as a guard on an army post. They are refusing to fill empty slots for other guards so he is doing ridiculous amounts of over time. Gives me a lot of time babysitting my grandkids but I wish they got more time with their parents.

The F22 apparently has the radar cross section of a small bird, but the F35 has the radar cross section of a bee. Much more effective stealth!
@dking1836
@dking1836 Месяц назад
Got those backwards: F 35 has a RCS of 0.005 meters squared. F 22 has a RCS of 0.0001 meters squared. Both are very stealthy, but the F 22 is a (even more expensive) ghost. The original stealth F 117 has a RCS of 0.001 meters squared. But it carried fewer and smaller bombs than either of the other two. I was in the USAF when we were flying the F 111 and transferring to the original F 15s (RCS 10.5!).
@theredscourge
@theredscourge Месяц назад
@@dking1836 That seems very counterintuitive. The F35 is newer, one would think it was designed from the ground up to use newer stealth technologies. Also doesn't it do a better job of certain things that help with stealth such as carrying all of its armaments internally?
@jaredhenderson6163
@jaredhenderson6163 17 дней назад
@@theredscourgeone of the biggest considerations in the f-35 was cost. The f-22 was much more expensive, and so was more stealthy, but in smaller numbers. Also the f-35 was designed as a multi role aircraft so it may have had to sacrifice some of its stealth to accomplish the expanded list of missions, but the f22 is mostly designed specifically for air superiority.

@RFredrickPhotography regardless we are still equipping even our lowest troops with good equipment, especially compared to China or India. The other fact is in a war we would never rely on infantry in the first place, not like Russia is doing which China and India would both have to do. The US would just do what we did in desert storm, air strikes for weeks to take out infrastructure and supplies and communications and THEN roll in with tanks and IFV, absolutely nail everything with artillery and himars and cruise missles, still bring in more airstrike and attack choppers as the tanks roll forward which are basically impossible for most nations to destroy on the field, obviously they can destroy one singular one if it's just sitting there but when a whole convoy is rolling up covered by IFV and attack copters and air support it ain't happening so kit of the average soldier doesn't matter much when we will just use machines

I’m commenting on a bit of inaccurate information someone posted. The Marine Corps is not 500,000 strong. Currently they are 172,577 strong. They are not Soldiers, they are Marines. A quick way to cause a fight is to call a Marine a Soldier. Soldiers, Army. Sailors, Navy. Airman, Air Force. Guardians, Space Force. The Marine Corps does not have ships as they stated. The Marine Corps falls under the Department of the Navy. Therefore, the Navy transports Marines and their equipment by water anytime it is needed. Army - 453,551 Navy - 332,322 Air Force - 318,698 Marine Corps - 172,577 Space Force - 8,879 (Organized under the Department of the Air Force.) All of the branches have Reservists. I have 14 Veterans in my family whom I’m so very proud of. My Dad, husband, son, brother, uncles, cousins. Countless friends as well. My career was on a Navy base, and a Marine base. The B-2 was an evolution of the YB-49 flying wing, designed by Northrop in the 40’s and adaptation of stealth tech used in the F-117, which stealth was derived from theory developed by a Russian mathematician in the 70’s. No alien technology required, just money, clever engineering and know how.

Over the history of the United States (1776-2024), we've been involved in far fewer wars/conflicts than the other "Great Powers". However, since World War 2, we've become involved in more than most countries, a result of our auperpower status, just as the British during the 19th and early 20th centuries when they were the world superpower. Our current military is completely professional and volunteer-based, unlike the conscript militaries of most other countries, and vastly experienced due to the U.S. military being deployed somewhere continuously since 1990.

It will fly over you without a sound, you only hear it after it's already passed you some distance. But by the time you hear it, you're already dead. It looks like a bird in the sky and you only realize what it was after it's already gone. Absolutely terrifying.

Your reactions are good, and though I am a fan of the Apache Helicopters myself, the A10 Warthog is a very capable automatic cannon with an aircraft wrapped around it and wings to hold almost anything the pilot would want. The A10 Warthog can literally get it's pilot ba k to base without most of it's tail and half of it's wings...no other aircraft I know has done that. Check out a few video's on "American Female A10 pilot lands after hydraulic systems failure"...it's an amazing story!

The stealth technology is so good even the US struggles to detect them. On September 17th, 2023 a Marine Corp controlled F-35 had a malfunction during a training flight over South Carolina that force ejected the pilots. The F-35 could not be detected on radar and they didn't know where it was headed when it ejected the pilots. It took the US almost 2 days to find the missing jet. It was found 75 miles away from where it ejected the pilots and since it crashed in an unpopulated area, no one saw the crash to report it.

I don't know if the air force brass was legitimately so far removed from reality as to confuse CAS with air strikes, or if it was just an excuse to fund what they wanted to fund. I've also seen Harrriers hovering over the eastern coastline, the Thunderbirds F-16's flying over my house on the way to a local air show , F/A-18's (you really need to check out any video that explain why the F-18 got the /A added to it), Apache and Blackhawk helicopters on the ground where I got to look inside them, and all kinds of cargo planes flying overhead just about every day or so. When you see these machines on a regular basis, it reinforces just how strong our military really is. It was just a few weeks ago when I saw an F/A-18 flying low, and I hear fighter jets flying overhead on my afternoon walks on a regular basis.
