We all did and I think that is the trait which makes the UD miltary forces so formidable. We're not ashamed to learn from others, its embraced when another force has better ideas/practices. I learned so much from my british counter parts. ❤

I am a veteran of the Air Force, 6 years with Strategic Air Command. We had the B-52s on 15 minute ground alert, pre-flighted, full of fuel and nuclear weapons on board, our base was designed with this in mind, the air crews were consolidated into the Alert Force, these crew had only 15 minutes to be airborne should the horn go off, and it did any day of the week, all kind of weather at any time of day. This was the brain child of the late General Curtis LeMay and it still exists today in 2023. The alert area where the bombers were parked had a direct taxiway to the runway threshold, any traffic on base were required to leave the roadway if the horn went off, leaving the roads to Security Police (my job), fire department, Alert Force and command staff! Failure to exit the road caused that airman to stand before his commander which was never a good day. I arrested a commander's wife, the commander had to stand before the Wing Commander which could end an officer's career! or get him sent to Alaska for some cold weather duties!! We never had any accidents and we never flew the bombers with weapons on board. I am proud to have served with SAC!!!

We may have a lot of equipment, but it’s working together to best utilize that equipment in a joint and coalition operation that makes us (the Ally group) effective. The SAS was the basis for our Special Forces and later Delta Force, and so much more! I’d argue the biggest reason to “not mess with the US” is not equipment, but our partners and allies, like the UK! 🇺🇸 🇬🇧 💪

One of my favorite quotes goes like this: "If you ever encounter an unknown armed force, fire a burst over their heads and await a response. If they respond with a volley of accurate, precise rifle fire, they're British. If the response is a shit ton of machine gun fire, they're German. If there is no response for several minutes and your position is then destroyed by an overwhelming and utterly destructive airstrike, they're American." Can't remember the individual who's responsible for this quote but it lives rent free in my head.

@DaperDerBy Usually, yes “accurate” would describe that well. Collateral damage in warfare today is rarely because they missed what they were aiming at. That doesn’t excuse militaries for picking ambiguous targets with high chances for unintended casualties.
@allanpolk2681
@allanpolk2681 2 года назад
@DaperDerBy When the slovenly cowards that are targeted, use hospitals and school children as a shield to protect their munitions and despicable leaders from the weapons used against them, then yes, there will unfortunately be collateral death and damage. The blatant disregard of some of our enemies for the lives of their own children, is a perfect example of why their ideology is a cancer to the human race. Their willingness to hide behind Innocent children, preying upon them in hopes that the better conscience of American forces will prevent them from striking them there. That is precisely why there are precision weapons in our arsenal designed to pinpoint the target, and eradicate the bad guys. These weapons are usually deployed when the target is away from civilian innocents, such as when they are on the move in a vehicle in an isolated area.

When the “Yanks” (Americans) showed up. They informed us we selected the wrong place. They took over. Cleared the jungle foliage, leveled the runway laid grid iron and had planes landing with supplies and troops in a few days! Never had he seen such organized speed before or since in his life.
