There’s something so soothing about Rick Steves. He’s like the Mister Rogers of travel. ❤

It's tradition. And it's practical, because museums can stay open on the weekends when not much else is open, so they can get more business, and on Tuesdays people usually have other plans anyways, so they can close then without losing business.

I Count 33 days before the cuts and 22 days after the cuts and it looks like an extra day was added to Swiss Alps. Look at and pause at his itinerary. Also Rick Steves did a show like this before and his itinerary added up correctly then.

As a European I always freak out when I hear from the travel plans of many Americans and Asians (even worse!). I'm not saying that I won't do the same mistake in America or Asia but they always plan to see way to many places in a short time! Last year I spend 24 days just in Croatia and Bosnia backpacking, which are tiny little counties. I had a great time and met many people which isn't possible when you're always on a rush. I could have stayed twice the time there without getting bored.

Part of it is that a European trip is a once-in-a-lifetime thing for many Americans, especially when people have limited vacation time (if they get any). They want to squeeze in so much because they don't know when they'll be back and they may only get 1 week to do it. This is why cruises are becoming more popular (at least pre-COVID); visitors can squeeze in more places in less time, but of course, this leads to cities like Venice becoming overwhelmed with tourists.

I think this suggested massive trip visiting 12 destinations in 6 countries in 32 days would be very exhausting, and you would probably need an extra vacation just to recover from it.
