We have a saying... "better safe than sorry". Albo has taken great care of you so far so doing the same for her and yourselves is just damn good business!!! Awesome chapter in your journey -- keep it comin'!!!!
Hot tip! Never reverse while recovering someone. Your differential gears have very low contact in reverse and torque loads often break the crown wheel doing this. A common repair in the shop.
Very refreshing to see an awesome couple, experiencing our beautiful country. The European attitude is something to behold, always smiling, always content and above all always loving. Is Aussies could learn a thing or two from these legends. Good luck on the rest of your journey guys 🤘🤘
Superb! Looks like you guys had a lot of fun on the Telly Track and everyone came back in one piece! Albo did extremely well following in the tradition of Land Rovers being Australia’s original 4x4 from decades ago. I believe Land Rovers were the very first cars to complete the Telegraph Track many decades ago. 😊
Wow! That was amazing. You say it was “disappointing” to miss Palm Creek and a couple of others. I think more accurately it was “vital so as not to drown Albo”. Was relieved to realise you didn’t need to return by the same route.
Solid effort guys. The OTT is such a fun track. Enjoy the east Coast for all it has to offer and be sure to stop by the big pineapple on your through for once in a lifetime photo opportunity
Hi Guys. Great filming and driving. Thoroughly enjoyed this one. By now you will be well down the rast coast. Look forward to the next one. God Bless. H
hahahah you noticed, honnestly at first I had put waterproof shoes and overalls ready for the fight and then we saw the Aussies and were like.... ok let s do like Tham bare feet and swimsuit>>>
Wow...that's an insane track...Aussie's are next level for sure. As disappointing as you likely felt...what a good decision. So...I am confused is there a "normal track" road all the way to the cape and the old tele is just a side track? I looked it up on google but couldn't figure it out.😅 So proud of ALBO! His human units are pretty dang cool too!😊 Amazing!
since the end the 90s I think there is now a track fairly normal (corrugated and boring) going to the cape. they call it the peninsula development road, it is slowly being paved. It is so important there are a few communities living up there so it changes their lives.
Well done for not attempting the deep water. If you flooded all of your electrical equipment it would be a very expensive repair and you would be without your home whilst the repairs are being done. Very sensible decision especially after just having to pay for a new engine 👍 Another brilliant video 👍Looking forward to the next part of your fantastic journey. Love the channel ❤👍👍👍
Awesome trails! Yep save Albo for the world trip and come back later with something you don’t need. Looking at Nick’s face I think he’s hooked on the off roading thing. I have been for around 40 years! At least you’re not a dodo heading for a cliff! That was great.
I'm so glad to finally find people touring Australia in a defender. I love land rovers, I have a defender 130. I've subscribed and I'm keen to follow you and watch your videos. If you're ever near Perth wa I'd love to meet you. We could even have a camp together
welcome to the channel!!! Unfortunately we started the journey in Perth ... already did the meet-up there, so we wont be returning. But thank you so much for the invite it is super kind!
When I was younger and closer to home I took the hard trails around here and payed the price of bad decisions. Now I’m older and have an over capable truck I take the chicken tracks to save the truck. Great job you guys and good decisions. Cheers !
Absolutely loved this part of the adventure! I cannot wait to do the drive to Cape York someday. We are a couple Canadians in Townsville if you need a spot to throw some laundry in and camp for the night on your way south
that;s so kind of you! you guy are indeed not far from the cape! it s superb up there. we have already passed Townsville on our way south but thank you so so much for the offer
Great job, mates, well done. The only thing if you rescue someone with your winch : don't reverse, stay put and use the winch only (not good for the gearbox pinions)
Great effort, great video. Knowing that your vehicle's limitations are less than your own means we get to see more of your incredible adventure and that's the best part . I'm so impressed with your determination and resilience. Onwards ➡
When the Tele track was the only way up they would doz the sides in on the creeks after the wet season to make it passable I have a photo of an old Holden hd in the wenloc. Even then gunshot was a challenge
Great trip - shame someone has ruined the sign at Cape York :-( We did the PDR in our Troopy last year but did not want to risk the car on the Tele Track! It is a fantastic place!
This was one of those times where I didn't mind experiencing the road by agent rather than driving it myself 😁. As well as being able, from my comfortable chair in front of the computer, to send a big thank you for a very interesting video travelogue to the smart and safety conscious French agents!
well that surprised me seeing you haven`t got dislocation cones on the springs and yes you do right not putting lover boy in danger he`s going to take you on a lot more adventures undamaged and little cost
Amazing! Trails, but water can really destroy your vehicle. You made the correct decision not to exceed the maximum water forg of Albatross. That trail is my kind of adventure, but this one is water extreme! ❤❤
I love that video. I view a lot of videos from australians on their tracks. As you said, it is the next level. You managed it perfectly, limiting the risk, but keeping it a bit spicy. Enjoy.
Wonderful video. I do remember some of those snakes in north Australia. In fact, I remember a lot of them. When I returned to the States I was tempted to tell any rattler to quit making such a fuss.
When you skipped Palm Creek, I knew exactly which ones you will be skipping and taking the chicken path lol But you made the right call or you would be back in the mechanic shop with thousands of dollars in bills. There was more than usual level of water in Palm Creek and I did Palm creek but definitely skipped Gunshot . The risk reward ( more like a momentary high) is too much). Saving your truck for the long haul is more important than making impulse decisions to cash the cheques your ego is writing at the moment. Good call 😀 You guys doing the Canning Stock or the Simpson Desert? Simpson should be doable for you.
Hey ABraracourix, it s so hard to say no when you re just right in front. we really wanted to go every time. Soooo no canning stock, we feel the diversity of landscape we would get as a reward is a bit limited for the length of the track so we decided against. Simpson we wanted to go, still want to but our current schedule bring us there in December which is terrible heat I believe. so we ll see if things change and play it by ear :)
@@NextMeridianExpedition You made the right call and resisted the urge to just do it and suffer the consequences later 😀 I did Palm creek but I skipped Gunshot and Nolan’s Creek and for someone like you where the vehicle is your lifeline plus your home, it’s the rational decision. Ultimately, getting to the top is the goal not attempt every obstacle lol They won’t let you do Simpson after September/October until April. That’s the window you can attempt driving the Simpson between April and October. Canning Stock is a big undertaking and you need a group to convoy with plus carry a lot of fuel, water and food. Not something everyone attempts while visiting there. I think there was more than usual level of water in Palm Creek so you made the right call not to damage your electrical system. It’s doable at the right time and usually it’s a practice run for Gunshot Creek. Nolan’s creek poses a different situation and it’s quite deep. There are also Salties in the creek and you don’t want to get stuck and become the lowest on the food chain. Your video was enjoyable even without attempting the big obstacles and in the big picture, you made the right decision. What’s wrong with your diff look? You can’t engage it from the inside using the shifter? Check it out before it gets serious. I don’t know if you watch Grizzly and Bear and they went to Africa and problems started with their diff locks and they ended up replacing everything on the vehicle and Lee had to work a second job to pay for it. The joys of Landrover ownership lol not withstanding the occasional Toyota you winch out for bragging rights haha .
That was fun. You did more than enough. Gotta keep the big picture in mind. There is no doubt that you did the right thing. Albo lives to travel another day, week, month year.......forever.
Can't wait for you to come down to Victoria. Would love to show you my local hots spots around here and would love you to meet more people that are into land rovers!!!!!
The 80series did it down the hill into the creek crossing easy 💯👍thats why their called the last off the best 4x4s 😊 but your landrover has taken you around the world 🌎 thats amazing 👏 but its your home i don't blame you taking the chicken tracks and turning back all the time i would do it too and ive got an 80series 😉
Crazy tracks but you did it! I would have been chicken to do half the tracks. Albo did great and with Nicks awesome driving and Mathildes instructions. Do you take the same way back?
Hey Andrew, that s the cleaning part we did: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-jotBKKjAJzM.html and then the video when we got it out of the port: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3ZUUZAFoZPI.html . There are more details on our Patreon, or honnestly if you get yourself an agent as we did he/she will explain It all to you. For us in perth it was just: temporary driving permit, insurance, roadworthiness, registration at the department of transport. for the shipping the agent will brief you I think they know it all
Thank you ofr the offer. Honnestly we handle it ourselves and we dont want to outsource it cause we simply do not have the finances for having an editor. we enjoy doing it for now. Thank you for the offer
@@NextMeridianExpedition I really appreciate your honest and kind response. If your situation changes in the future, I’d be here to help! Have a great day.
Discretion is the better part of valour. You and Albo did exceptionally well. Many have breakages, sunken vehicles and are too daring for their own good. Two more cardinal points to go. Yay. 👍🏻🙏🦘
